1 M entre Gesù usciva dal tempio e se ne andava, i suoi discepoli gli si avvicinarono per fargli osservare gli edifici del tempio.

And Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way; and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.

2 M a egli rispose loro: «Vedete tutte queste cose? Io vi dico in verità: non sarà lasciata qui pietra su pietra che non sia diroccata».

But he answered and said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

3 M entre egli era seduto sul monte degli Ulivi, i discepoli gli si avvicinarono in disparte, dicendo: «Dicci, quando avverranno queste cose e quale sarà il segno della tua venuta e della fine dell’età presente?»

And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 G esù rispose loro: «Guardate che nessuno vi seduca.

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man lead you astray.

5 P oiché molti verranno nel mio nome, dicendo: “Io sono il Cristo”. E ne sedurranno molti.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and shall lead many astray.

6 V oi udrete parlare di guerre e di rumori di guerre; guardate di non turbarvi, infatti bisogna che questo avvenga, ma non sarà ancora la fine.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for these things must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet.

7 P erché insorgerà nazione contro nazione e regno contro regno; ci saranno carestie e terremoti in vari luoghi;

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places.

8 m a tutto questo non sarà che principio di dolori.

But all these things are the beginning of travail.

9 A llora vi abbandoneranno all’oppressione e vi uccideranno e sarete odiati da tutte le genti a motivo del mio nome.

Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake.

10 A llora molti si svieranno, si tradiranno e si odieranno a vicenda.

And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.

11 M olti falsi profeti sorgeranno e sedurranno molti.

And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray.

12 P oiché l’iniquità aumenterà, l’amore dei più si raffredderà.

And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold.

13 M a chi avrà perseverato sino alla fine sarà salvato.

But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

14 E questo vangelo del regno sarà predicato in tutto il mondo, affinché ne sia resa testimonianza a tutte le genti; allora verrà la fine.

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.

15 « Quando dunque vedrete l’abominazione della desolazione, della quale ha parlato il profeta Daniele, posta in luogo santo (chi legge faccia attenzione!),

When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him that readeth understand),

16 a llora quelli che saranno nella Giudea fuggano ai monti;

then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains:

17 c hi sarà sulla terrazza non scenda per prendere quello che è in casa sua;

let him that is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house:

18 e chi sarà nel campo non torni indietro a prendere la sua veste.

and let him that is in the field not return back to take his cloak.

19 G uai alle donne che saranno incinte e a quelle che allatteranno in quei giorni!

But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days!

20 P regate che la vostra fuga non avvenga d’inverno né di sabato;

And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a sabbath:

21 p erché allora vi sarà una grande tribolazione, quale non v’è stata dal principio del mondo fino ad ora, né mai più vi sarà.

for then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be.

22 S e quei giorni non fossero stati abbreviati, nessuno scamperebbe; ma, a motivo degli eletti, quei giorni saranno abbreviati.

And except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 A llora, se qualcuno vi dice: “Il Cristo è qui”, oppure: “È là”, non lo credete;

Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here; believe it not.

24 p erché sorgeranno falsi cristi e falsi profeti, e faranno grandi segni e prodigi da sedurre, se fosse possibile, anche gli eletti.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

25 E cco, ve l’ho predetto.

Behold, I have told you beforehand.

26 S e dunque vi dicono: “Eccolo, è nel deserto”, non vi andate; “Eccolo, è nelle stanze interne”, non lo credete;

If therefore they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the wilderness; go not forth: Behold, he is in the inner chambers; believe it not.

27 i nfatti, come il lampo esce da levante e si vede fino a ponente, così sarà la venuta del Figlio dell’uomo.

For as the lightning cometh forth from the east, and is seen even unto the west; so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

28 D ovunque sarà il cadavere, lì si raduneranno le aquile.

Wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

29 S ubito dopo la tribolazione di quei giorni, il sole si oscurerà, la luna non darà più il suo splendore, le stelle cadranno dal cielo e le potenze dei cieli saranno scrollate.

But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 A llora apparirà nel cielo il segno del Figlio dell’uomo; e allora tutte le tribù della terra faranno cordoglio e vedranno il Figlio dell’uomo venire sulle nuvole del cielo con gran potenza e gloria.

and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 E manderà i suoi angeli con gran suono di tromba per riunire i suoi eletti dai quattro venti, da un capo all’altro dei cieli.

And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32 I mparate dal fico questa similitudine: quando già i suoi rami si fanno teneri e mettono le foglie, voi sapete che l’estate è vicina.

Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh;

33 C osì anche voi, quando vedrete tutte queste cose, sappiate che egli è vicino, proprio alle porte.

even so ye also, when ye see all these things, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors.

34 I o vi dico in verità che questa generazione non passerà prima che tutte queste cose siano avvenute.

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished.

35 I l cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno. Esortazione alla vigilanza

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 « Ma quanto a quel giorno e a quell’ora nessuno li sa, neppure gli angeli del cielo, neppure il Figlio, ma il Padre solo.

But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only.

37 C ome fu ai giorni di Noè, così sarà alla venuta del Figlio dell’uomo.

And as were the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

38 I nfatti, come nei giorni prima del diluvio si mangiava e si beveva, si prendeva moglie e si andava a marito, fino al giorno in cui Noè entrò nell’arca,

For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

39 e la gente non si accorse di nulla finché venne il diluvio che portò via tutti quanti, così sarà {anche} alla venuta del Figlio dell’uomo.

and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man.

40 A llora due saranno nel campo: l’uno sarà preso e l’altro lasciato;

Then shall two man be in the field; one is taken, and one is left:

41 d ue donne macineranno al mulino: l’una sarà presa e l’altra lasciata.

two women shall be grinding at the mill; one is taken, and one is left.

42 V egliate, dunque, perché non sapete in quale giorno il vostro Signore verrà.

Watch therefore: for ye know not on what day your Lord cometh.

43 M a sappiate questo: che se il padrone di casa sapesse a quale ora della notte il ladro deve venire, veglierebbe e non lascerebbe scassinare la sua casa.

But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through.

44 P erciò anche voi siate pronti; perché, nell’ora che non pensate, il Figlio dell’uomo verrà.

Therefore be ye also ready; for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Q ual è mai il servo fedele e prudente che il padrone ha costituito sui suoi domestici per dare loro il vitto a suo tempo?

Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath set over his household, to give them their food in due season?

46 B eato quel servo che il padrone, arrivando, troverà così occupato!

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 I o vi dico in verità che lo costituirà su tutti i suoi beni.

Verily I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath.

48 M a se quel servo malvagio dice in cuor suo: “Il mio padrone tarda ”,

But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord tarrieth;

49 e comincia a battere i suoi conservi, e mangia e beve con gli ubriaconi,

and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken;

50 i l padrone di quel servo verrà nel giorno che non se l’aspetta, nell’ora che non sa,

the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not,

51 e lo punirà severamente e gli assegnerà la sorte degli ipocriti. Lì ci sarà pianto e stridor di denti.

and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
