In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans,

2 i l primo anno del suo regno, io, Daniele, meditando sui libri, vidi che il numero degli anni di cui il Signore aveva parlato al profeta Geremia e durante i quali Gerusalemme doveva essere in rovina era di settant’anni.

in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years whereof the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah the prophet, for the accomplishing of the desolations of Jerusalem, even seventy years.

3 V olsi perciò la mia faccia verso Dio, il Signore, per dispormi alla preghiera e alle suppliche, con digiuno, sacco e cenere.

And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.

4 F eci la mia preghiera e la mia confessione al Signore mio Dio, e dissi: “O Signore, Dio grande e tremendo, che mantieni il patto e serbi la misericordia verso quelli che ti amano e osservano i tuoi comandamenti!

And I prayed unto Jehovah my God, and made confession, and said, Oh, Lord, the great and dreadful God, who keepeth covenant and lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments,

5 N oi abbiamo peccato, ci siamo comportati iniquamente, abbiamo operato malvagiamente, ci siamo ribellati e ci siamo allontanati dai tuoi comandamenti e dalle tue prescrizioni.

we have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from thy precepts and from thine ordinances;

6 N on abbiamo dato ascolto ai profeti, tuoi servi, che hanno parlato in nome tuo ai nostri re, ai nostri prìncipi, ai nostri padri e a tutto il popolo del paese.

neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, that spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7 A te, o Signore, la giustizia; a noi la confusione della faccia in questo giorno, agli uomini di Giuda, agli abitanti di Gerusalemme e a tutto Israele, vicini e lontani, in tutti i paesi dove li hai dispersi per le infedeltà che hanno commesse contro di te.

O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.

8 O Signore, a noi la confusione della faccia, ai nostri re, ai nostri prìncipi e ai nostri padri, perché abbiamo peccato contro di te.

O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

9 A l Signore, che è il nostro Dio, appartengono la misericordia e il perdono; poiché noi ci siamo ribellati a lui

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have rebelled against him;

10 e non abbiamo ascoltato la voce del Signore, del nostro Dio, per camminare secondo le sue leggi che egli ci aveva date mediante i profeti, suoi servi.

neither have we obeyed the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

11 S ì, tutto Israele ha trasgredito la tua legge, si è sviato per non ubbidire alla tua voce. Così su di noi si sono riversate le maledizioni e le imprecazioni che sono scritte nella legge di Mosè, servo di Dio, perché noi abbiamo peccato contro di lui.

Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even turning aside, that they should not obey thy voice: therefore hath the curse been poured out upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God; for we have sinned against him.

12 E gli ha messo in pratica le parole che aveva pronunciate contro di noi e contro i nostri governanti, facendo venire su di noi un male così grande, che sotto il cielo non è mai accaduto nulla di simile a quello che è stato fatto a Gerusalemme.

And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil; for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.

13 C ome sta scritto nella legge di Mosè, questo disastro ci è piombato addosso; tuttavia, non abbiamo implorato il favore del Signore, del nostro Dio. Non ci siamo ritirati dalla nostra iniquità e non siamo stati attenti alla sua verità.

As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet have we not entreated the favor of Jehovah our God, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in thy truth.

14 I l Signore ha vigilato su questa calamità e ce l’ha fatta venire addosso; perché il Signore, il nostro Dio, è giusto in tutto quello che ha fatto, ma noi non abbiamo ubbidito alla sua voce.

Therefore hath Jehovah watched over the evil, and brought it upon us; for Jehovah our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth, and we have not obeyed his voice.

15 O ra, o Signore nostro Dio, che conducesti il tuo popolo fuori dal paese d’Egitto con mano potente e ti facesti una fama che hai ancora oggi, noi abbiamo peccato e abbiamo agito malvagiamente.

And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16 O Signore, per tutti i tuoi atti di giustizia, ti prego, fa’ che la tua ira e il tuo sdegno si ritirino dalla tua città, Gerusalemme, dal tuo monte santo; poiché per i nostri peccati e per le iniquità dei nostri padri, Gerusalemme e il tuo popolo sono esposti al disprezzo di tutti quelli che ci stanno intorno.

O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, let thine anger and thy wrath, I pray thee, be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are round about us.

17 O ra, o Dio nostro, ascolta la preghiera e le suppliche del tuo servo; per amor tuo, Signore, fa’ risplendere il tuo volto sul tuo santuario che è desolato!

Now therefore, O our God, hearken unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.

18 O mio Dio, inclina il tuo orecchio e ascolta! Apri gli occhi e guarda le nostre desolazioni, guarda la città sulla quale è invocato il tuo nome; poiché non ti supplichiamo fondandoci sulla nostra giustizia, ma sulla tua grande misericordia.

O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousness, but for thy great mercies' sake.

19 S ignore, ascolta! Signore, perdona! Signore, guarda e agisci senza indugio per amore di te stesso, o mio Dio, perché il tuo nome è invocato sulla tua città e sul tuo popolo”. Le settanta settimane

O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God, because thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

20 « Io parlavo, pregando e confessando il mio peccato e il peccato del mio popolo Israele, e presentavo la mia supplica al Signore, al mio Dio, per il monte santo del mio Dio.

And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God;

21 M entre stavo ancora parlando in preghiera, quell’uomo, Gabriele, che avevo visto prima nella visione, mandato con rapido volo, si avvicinò a me all’ora dell’offerta della sera.

yea, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

22 E gli mi rivolse la parola e disse: “Daniele, io sono venuto perché tu possa comprendere.

And he instructed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee wisdom and understanding.

23 Q uando hai cominciato a pregare c’è stata una risposta e io sono venuto a comunicartela, perché tu sei molto amato. Fa’ dunque attenzione al messaggio e comprendi la visione.

At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment went forth, and I am come to tell thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision.

24 S ettanta settimane sono state fissate riguardo al tuo popolo e alla tua santa città, per far cessare la perversità, per mettere fine al peccato, per espiare l’iniquità e stabilire una giustizia eterna, per sigillare visione e profezia e per ungere il luogo santissimo.

Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.

25 S appi dunque e comprendi bene: dal momento in cui è uscito l’ordine di restaurare e ricostruire Gerusalemme fino all’apparire di un unto, di un capo, ci saranno sette settimane e sessantadue settimane; essa sarà restaurata e ricostruita, piazza e mura, ma in tempi angosciosi.

Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: it shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troublous times.

26 D opo le sessantadue settimane un unto sarà soppresso, nessuno sarà per lui. Il popolo d’un capo che verrà distruggerà la città e il santuario; la sua fine verrà come un’inondazione, ed è decretato che vi saranno devastazioni sino alla fine della guerra.

And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined.

27 E gli stabilirà un patto con molti per una settimana; in mezzo alla settimana farà cessare sacrificio e offerta. Sulle ali delle abominazioni verrà un devastatore. Il devastatore commetterà le cose più abominevoli, finché la completa distruzione, che è decretata, non piombi sul devastatore”».

And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolate.
