1 I love thee, O Jehovah, my strength.

Mi Señor, mi fortaleza, ¡yo te amo!

2 J ehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

Mi Señor y Dios, tú eres mi roca, mi defensor, ¡mi libertador! Tú eres mi fuerza y mi escudo, mi poderosa salvación, mi alto refugio. ¡En ti confío!

3 I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Yo te invoco, Señor, porque sólo tú eres digno de alabanza; ¡tú me salvas de mis adversarios!

4 T he cords of death compassed me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.

Los lazos de la muerte me rodearon; ¡me arrolló un torrente de perversidad!

5 T he cords of Sheol were round about me; The snares of death came upon me.

Los lazos del sepulcro me rodearon; ¡me vi ante las trampas de la muerte!

6 I n my distress I called upon Jehovah, And cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of his temple, And my cry before him came into his ears.

Pero en mi angustia, Señor, a ti clamé; a ti, mi Dios, pedí ayuda, y desde tu templo me escuchaste; ¡mis gemidos llegaron a tus oídos!

7 T hen the earth shook and trembled; The foundations also of the mountains quaked And were shaken, because he was wroth.

La tierra tembló y se estremeció; las montañas se cimbraron hasta sus cimientos; ¡se sacudieron por la indignación del Señor!

8 T here went up a smoke out of his nostrils, And fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled by it.

Humo salía de su nariz, y por su boca brotaba fuego encendido; ¡su furor inflamaba los carbones!

9 H e bowed the heavens also, and came down; And thick darkness was under his feet.

El Señor inclinó el cielo, y descendió; bajo sus pies había una densa oscuridad.

10 A nd he rode upon a cherub, and did fly; Yea, he soared upon the wings of the wind.

Montó sobre un querubín, y voló; ¡voló sobre las alas del viento!

11 H e made darkness his hiding-place, his pavilion round about him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

Se envolvió en un manto de sombras; se ocultó entre grises nubes, cargadas de agua.

12 A t the brightness before him his thick clouds passed, Hailstones and coals of fire.

De su deslumbrante presencia salieron ascuas y granizos que cruzaron las nubes.

13 J ehovah also thundered in the heavens, And the Most High uttered his voice, Hailstones and coals of fire.

El Señor lanzó un poderoso trueno; el Altísimo dejó escuchar su voz en medio de ascuas y granizos.

14 A nd he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; Yea, lightnings manifold, and discomfited them.

Lanzó sus flechas, y los dispersó; ¡lanzó relámpagos, y acabó con ellos!

15 T hen the channels of waters appeared, And the foundations of the world were laid bare, At thy rebuke, O Jehovah, At the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

El Señor dejó oír su reprensión, ¡y a la vista quedó el fondo de las aguas! De su nariz salió un intenso soplo, ¡y a la vista quedaron los cimientos del mundo!

16 H e sent from on high, he took me; He drew me out of many waters.

Desde lo alto el Señor me tendió la mano y me rescató de las aguas tumultuosas,

17 H e delivered me from my strong enemy, And from them that hated me; for they were too mighty for me.

¡me libró de los poderosos enemigos que me odiaban y eran más fuertes que yo!

18 T hey came upon me in the day of my calamity; But Jehovah was my stay.

Me atacaron en el día de mi desgracia, pero el Señor me dio su apoyo:

19 H e brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because he delighted in me.

me llevó a un terreno espacioso, y me salvó, porque se agradó de mí.

20 J ehovah hath rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

El Señor me premió porque soy justo; ¡porque mis manos están limpias de culpa!

21 F or I have kept the ways of Jehovah, And have not wickedly departed from my God.

Yo he seguido los caminos del Señor, y ningún mal he cometido contra mi Dios.

22 F or all his ordinances were before me, And I put not away his statutes from me.

Tengo presentes todos sus decretos, y no me he apartado de sus estatutos.

23 I was also perfect with him, And I kept myself from mine iniquity.

Con él me he conducido rectamente, y me he alejado de la maldad;

24 T herefore hath Jehovah recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

él ha visto la limpieza de mis manos, y por eso ha recompensado mi justicia.

25 W ith the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; With the perfect man thou wilt show thyself perfect;

Señor, tú eres fiel con el que es fiel, e intachable con el que es intachable.

26 W ith the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; And with the perverse thou wilt show thyself froward.

Juegas limpio con quien juega limpio, pero al tramposo le ganas en astucia.

27 F or thou wilt save the afflicted people; But the haughty eyes thou wilt bring down.

Tú salvas a los humildes, pero humillas a los soberbios.

28 F or thou wilt light my lamp: Jehovah my God will lighten my darkness.

Señor, mi Dios, tú mantienes mi lámpara encendida; ¡tú eres la luz de mis tinieblas!

29 F or by thee I run upon a troop; And by my God do I leap over a wall.

¡Con tu ayuda, mi Dios, puedo vencer ejércitos y derribar murallas!

30 A s for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.

El camino de Dios es perfecto; la palabra del Señor, acrisolada; Dios es el escudo de los que en él confían.

31 F or who is God, save Jehovah? And who is a rock, besides our God,

¡Aparte del Señor, no hay otro Dios! ¡Aparte de nuestro Dios, no hay otra Roca!

32 T he God that girdeth me with strength, And maketh my way perfect?

Dios es quien me infunde fuerzas; Dios es quien endereza mi camino;

33 H e maketh my feet like hinds' feet: And setteth me upon my high places.

Dios es quien me aligera los pies y me hace correr como un venado; Dios es quien me afirma en las alturas;

34 H e teacheth my hands to war; So that mine arms do bend a bow of brass.

Dios adiestra mis manos para el combate, y me da fuerzas para tensar el arco de bronce.

35 T hou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation; And thy right hand hath holden me up, And thy gentleness hath made me great.

Tú me diste el escudo de tu salvación, me sostuviste con tu mano derecha, y con tu bondad me engrandeciste.

36 T hou hast enlarged my steps under me, And my feet have not slipped.

Me pusiste sobre un terreno espacioso, para que mis pies no resbalaran,

37 I will pursue mine enemies, and overtake them; Neither will I turn again till they are consumed.

y así pude perseguir y alcanzar a mis adversarios; ¡no volví hasta haberlos exterminado!

38 I will smite them through, so that they shall not be able to rise: They shall fall under my feet.

Los herí, y ya no se levantaron; ¡quedaron tendidos debajo de mis pies!

39 F or thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

Tú me infundiste fuerzas para la batalla, para vencer y humillar a mis adversarios.

40 T hou hast also made mine enemies turn their backs unto me, That I might cut off them that hate me.

Tú los hiciste ponerse en retirada, y así acabé con los que me odiaban.

41 T hey cried, but there was none to save; Even unto Jehovah, but he answered them not.

Clamaron a ti, Señor, pero no los atendiste; ¡no hubo nadie que los ayudara!

42 T hen did I beat them small as the dust before the wind; I did cast them out as the mire of the streets.

Los hice polvo, y los arrastró el viento; ¡los pisoteé como al lodo en las calles!

43 T hou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; Thou hast made me the head of the nations: A people whom I have not known shall serve me.

Tú me libraste de un pueblo rebelde, Y me pusiste al frente de las naciones. Gente que yo no conocía, viene a servirme;

44 A s soon as they hear of me they shall obey me; The foreigners shall submit themselves unto me.

gente extraña me rinde homenaje; ¡apenas me escuchan, me obedecen!

45 T he foreigners shall fade away, And shall come trembling out of their close places.

¡Gente de otros pueblos se llena de miedo, y sale temblando de sus escondites!

46 J ehovah liveth; and blessed be my rock; And exalted be the God of my salvation,

¡Viva el Señor! ¡Bendita sea mi roca! ¡Exaltado sea el Dios de mi salvación!

47 E ven the God that executeth vengeance for me, And subdueth peoples under me.

Es el Dios que vindica mis agravios y somete a las naciones bajo mis pies.

48 H e rescueth me from mine enemies; Yea, thou liftest me up above them that rise up against me; Thou deliverest me from the violent man.

Es el Dios que me libra de mis adversarios, que me eleva por encima de mis oponentes, ¡que me pone a salvo de los violentos!

49 T herefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing praises unto thy name.

Por eso alabo al Señor entre los pueblos, y canto salmos a su nombre.

50 G reat deliverance giveth he to his king, And showeth lovingkindness to his anointed, To David and to his seed, for evermore.

El Señor da la victoria al rey; siempre es misericordioso con su ungido, con David y con sus descendientes.
