1 A nd David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that served the king by course, and the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, and the rulers over all the substance and possessions of the king and of his sons, with the officers, and the mighty men, even all the mighty men of valor, unto Jerusalem.

David reunió en Jerusalén a todos los jefes de las tribus de Israel, a los jefes de las divisiones al servicio del rey, a los jefes de millares y de centenas, a los administradores de todas las propiedades del rey y de sus hijos, a los oficiales y a sus hombres más aguerridos y valientes.

2 T hen David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: as for me, it was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and for the footstool of our God; and I had made ready for the building.

Una vez reunidos, el rey David se puso de pie y dijo: «Hermanos y pueblo mío: escúchenme. Yo tenía la intención de edificar una casa en donde el arca del pacto del Señor pudiera reposar; en donde nuestro Dios pudiera descansar sus pies. Ya tenía yo todo preparado para edificar,

3 B ut God said unto me, Thou shalt not build a house for my name, because thou art a man of war, and hast shed blood.

pero Dios me dijo: “Tú no edificarás casa a mi nombre, porque eres hombre de guerra y has derramado mucha sangre.”

4 H owbeit Jehovah, the God of Israel, chose me out of all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be prince; and in the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel;

Sin embargo, el Señor, el Dios de Israel, me eligió de entre toda la casa de mi padre, para que fuera yo rey de Israel para siempre. A Judá lo escogió como caudillo, y de la casa de Judá escogió a la familia de mi padre, y de entre los hijos de mi padre se agradó de mí para hacerme rey de todo Israel.

5 A nd of all my sons (for Jehovah hath given me many sons), he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of Jehovah over Israel.

El Señor me ha dado muchos hijos, y de entre todos ellos eligió a mi hijo Salomón para que se siente en el trono del reino del Señor y gobierne a Israel.

6 A nd he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts; for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

El Señor me ha dicho: “Tu hijo Salomón edificará mi casa y mis atrios. Yo lo he escogido para que sea mi hijo, y yo seré para él su padre.

7 A nd I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and mine ordinances, as at this day.

Yo confirmaré su reino para siempre, siempre y cuando él se esfuerce por practicar mis mandamientos y mis decretos, como lo hace ahora.”

8 N ow therefore, in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of Jehovah, and in the audience of our God, observe and seek out all the commandments of Jehovah your God; that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children after you for ever.

Así que ahora, teniendo como testigo a todo Israel, la congregación del Señor, y hablando en presencia de nuestro Dios, procuren cumplir todos los preceptos del Señor su Dios, para que posean esta buena tierra, y se la dejen a sus hijos después de ustedes como herencia perpetua.

9 A nd thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Jehovah searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

»Y tú, Salomón, hijo mío, reconoce al Dios de tu padre, y sírvele con corazón perfecto y con ánimo voluntario, porque el Señor escudriña los corazones de todos y entiende toda intención de los pensamientos. Si tú lo buscas, lo hallarás; pero si lo dejas, él te desechará para siempre.

10 T ake heed now; for Jehovah hath chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.

Date cuenta ahora de que el Señor te ha elegido para que edifiques casa para el santuario. ¡Esfuérzate, y hazla!»

11 T hen David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch of the temple, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper rooms thereof, and of the inner chambers thereof, and of the place of the mercy-seat;

Luego David entregó a su hijo Salomón el plano del pórtico del templo y de sus casas, tesorerías, aposentos y salas, y de la casa del propiciatorio.

12 a nd the pattern of all that he had by the Spirit, for the courts of the house of Jehovah, and for all the chambers round about, for the treasuries of the house of God, and for the treasuries of the dedicated things;

También le entregó el plano de todo lo que pensaba hacer para los atrios de la casa del Señor, para todas las salas en derredor, para las tesorerías de la casa de Dios, y para las tesorerías de los objetos santificados,

13 a lso for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, and for all the vessels of service in the house of Jehovah;

lo mismo que para los grupos de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, para toda la obra del ministerio de la casa del Señor, y para todos los utensilios del ministerio de la casa del Señor.

14 o f gold by weight for the vessels of gold, for all vessels of every kind of service; of silver for all the vessels of silver by weight, for all vessels of every kind of service;

Pesó el oro para los objetos de oro, para todos los utensilios de cada servicio, y pesó también la plata para todos los objetos de plata, para todos los utensilios de cada servicio.

15 b y weight also for the candlesticks of gold, and for the lamps thereof, of gold, by weight for every candlestick and for the lamps thereof; and for the candlesticks of silver, silver by weight for every candlestick and for the lamps thereof, according to the use of every candlestick;

Pesó el oro para los candeleros de oro y para sus lámparas; y pesó también el oro para cada candelero y sus lámparas, y pesó la plata para los candeleros de plata y sus lámparas, según el servicio de cada candelero.

16 a nd the gold by weight for the tables of showbread, for every table; and silver for the tables of silver;

También pesó el oro para cada una de las mesas de la proposición, lo mismo que la plata para las mesas de plata,

17 a nd the flesh-hooks, and the basins, and the cups, of pure gold; and for the golden bowls by weight for every bowl; and for the silver bowls by weight for every bowl;

y oro puro para los garfios, los lebrillos, las copas y las tazas de oro. Pesó el oro para cada taza de oro, y la plata para cada una de las tazas de plata.

18 a nd for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot, even the cherubim, that spread out their wings, and covered the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.

Además, pesó oro puro para el altar del incienso y para el carro de los querubines de oro, que con sus alas extendidas cubrían el arca del pacto del Señor,

19 A ll this, said David, have I been made to understand in writing from the hand of Jehovah, even all the works of this pattern.

pues dijo David: «Todo esto me fue diseñado por la mano del Señor. Él me dio a conocer cada detalle del diseño.»

20 A nd David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed; for Jehovah God, even my God, is with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until all the work for the service of the house of Jehovah be finished.

Además, David le dijo a su hijo Salomón: «¡Anímate y esfuérzate! Pon manos a la obra, y no temas ni desmayes. El Señor mi Dios estará contigo. No te dejará ni te desamparará, hasta que acabes toda la obra para el servicio de la casa del Señor.

21 A nd, behold, there are the courses of the priests and the Levites, for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee in all manner of work every willing man that hath skill, for any manner of service: also the captains and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.

Mira, en toda la obra estarán contigo, para todo el ministerio de la casa de Dios, los grupos de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, y todos los voluntarios capaces de realizar toda forma de servicio; además, los jefes y todo el pueblo están dispuestos a ejecutar todas tus órdenes.»
