1 F or we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.

Bien sabemos que si se deshace nuestra casa terrenal, es decir, esta tienda que es nuestro cuerpo, en los cielos tenemos de Dios un edificio, una casa eterna, la cual no fue hecha por manos humanas.

2 F or verily in this we groan, longing to be clothed upon with our habitation which is from heaven:

Y por esto también suspiramos y anhelamos ser revestidos de nuestra casa celestial;

3 i f so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

ya que así se nos encontrará vestidos y no desnudos.

4 F or indeed we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened; not for that we would be unclothed, but that we would be clothed upon, that what is mortal may be swallowed up of life.

Los que estamos en esta tienda, que es nuestro cuerpo, gemimos con angustia; porque no quisiéramos ser desvestidos, sino revestidos, para que lo mortal sea absorbido por la vida.

5 N ow he that wrought us for this very thing is God, who gave unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Pero Dios es quien nos hizo para este fin, y quien nos dio su Espíritu en garantía de lo que habremos de recibir.

6 B eing therefore always of good courage, and knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord

Por eso vivimos siempre confiados, pues sabemos que mientras estemos en el cuerpo, estamos ausentes del Señor

7 ( for we walk by faith, not by sight);

(porque vivimos por la fe, no por la vista).

8 w e are of good courage, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be at home with the Lord.

Pero confiamos, y quisiéramos más bien ausentarnos del cuerpo y presentarnos ante el Señor.

9 W herefore also we make it our aim, whether at home or absent, to be well-pleasing unto him.

Pero ya sea que estemos ausentes o presentes, siempre procuramos agradar a Dios.

10 F or we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Porque es necesario que todos nosotros comparezcamos ante el tribunal de Cristo, para que cada uno reciba según lo bueno o lo malo que haya hecho mientras estaba en el cuerpo. El ministerio de la reconciliación

11 K nowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.

Así que, puesto que conocemos el temor del Señor, procuramos convencer a todos. Para Dios es evidente lo que somos; y espero que también lo sea para la conciencia de ustedes.

12 W e are not again commending ourselves unto you, but speak as giving you occasion of glorying on our behalf, that ye may have wherewith to answer them that glory in appearance, and not in heart.

No estamos recomendándonos otra vez a ustedes, sino que les damos la oportunidad de estar orgullosos de nosotros, para que tengan con qué responder a los que presumen de las apariencias y no de lo que hay en el corazón.

13 F or whether we are beside ourselves, it is unto God; or whether we are of sober mind, it is unto you.

Si estamos locos, lo estamos para Dios; y si estamos cuerdos, lo estamos para ustedes.

14 F or the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that one died for all, therefore all died;

El amor de Cristo nos lleva a actuar así, al pensar que si uno murió por todos, entonces todos murieron;

15 a nd he died for all, that they that live should no longer live unto themselves, but unto him who for their sakes died and rose again.

y él murió por todos, para que los que viven ya no vivan para sí, sino para aquel que murió y resucitó por ellos.

16 W herefore we henceforth know no man after the flesh: even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.

Así que, de aquí en adelante, nosotros ya no conocemos a nadie desde el punto de vista humano; y aun si a Cristo lo conocimos desde el punto de vista humano, ya no lo conocemos así.

17 W herefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new.

De modo que si alguno está en Cristo, ya es una nueva creación; atrás ha quedado lo viejo: ¡ahora ya todo es nuevo!

18 B ut all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave unto us the ministry of reconciliation;

Y todo esto proviene de Dios, quien nos reconcilió consigo mismo a través de Cristo y nos dio el ministerio de la reconciliación.

19 t o wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Esto quiere decir que, en Cristo, Dios estaba reconciliando al mundo consigo mismo, sin tomarles en cuenta sus pecados, y que a nosotros nos encargó el mensaje de la reconciliación.

20 W e are ambassadors therefore on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beseech you on behalf of Christ, be ye reconciled to God.

Así que somos embajadores en nombre de Cristo, y como si Dios les rogara a ustedes por medio de nosotros, en nombre de Cristo les rogamos: «Reconcíliense con Dios».

21 H im who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

Al que no cometió ningún pecado, por nosotros Dios lo hizo pecado, para que en él nosotros fuéramos hechos justicia de Dios.
