1 T hen Jehovah said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

Entonces el Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Preséntate ante el faraón, y dile: “El Señor, el Dios de los hebreos, dice así: ‘Deja ir a mi pueblo, para que me sirva.’

2 F or if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still,

Porque si no lo dejas ir, y sigues deteniéndolo,

3 b ehold, the hand of Jehovah is upon thy cattle which are in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the herds, and upon the flocks: there shall be a very grievous murrain.

la mano del Señor va a caer sobre los ganados que tienes en el campo, y sobre los caballos, los asnos, los camellos, las vacas y las ovejas. Será una plaga muy grave.

4 A nd Jehovah shall make a distinction between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt; and there shall nothing die of all that belongeth to the children of Israel.

Y el Señor hará distinción entre los ganados de Israel y los de Egipto, de modo que no muera nada de lo que es de los hijos de Israel.

5 A nd Jehovah appointed a set time, saying, To-morrow Jehovah shall do this thing in the land.

El Señor ha puesto un plazo, y ha dicho: ‘Yo, el Señor, haré esto en el país mañana.’”»

6 A nd Jehovah did that thing on the morrow; and all the cattle of Egypt died; but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.

Al día siguiente el Señor hizo todo aquello, y murió todo el ganado de Egipto, pero del ganado de los hijos de Israel no murió una sola cabeza.

7 A nd Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he did not let the people go.

Entonces el faraón mandó a ver, y resultó que del ganado de los hijos de Israel no había muerto un solo animal. Sin embargo, el corazón del faraón se endureció y no dejó ir al pueblo. La plaga de úlceras

8 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.

El Señor dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: «Tomen de un horno puñados de ceniza, y que la arroje Moisés al cielo en presencia del faraón.

9 A nd it shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.

La ceniza se hará polvo y caerá sobre toda la tierra de Egipto, y en todo Egipto producirá sarpullido con úlceras en la gente y en los animales.»

10 A nd they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man and upon beast.

Y ellos tomaron ceniza, y se enfrentaron al faraón, y Moisés arrojó la ceniza al cielo, y hubo sarpullido que produjo úlceras tanto en la gente como en los animales.

11 A nd the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.

Por causa del sarpullido, los hechiceros no pudieron enfrentarse a Moisés, porque hubo sarpullido en los hechiceros y en todos los egipcios.

12 A nd Jehovah hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them, as Jehovah had spoken unto Moses.

Pero el Señor endureció el corazón del faraón y tal y como el Señor lo había dicho, no le hizo caso a Moisés. La plaga de granizo

13 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

El Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Levántate muy temprano, y preséntate ante el faraón y dile: “Así dice el Señor, el Dios de los hebreos: ‘Deja ir a mi pueblo, para que me sirva.’

14 F or I will this time send all my plagues upon thy heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.

Porque esta vez voy a enviar a tu corazón, y a tus siervos y a tu pueblo, todas mis plagas, para que entiendas que no hay en toda la tierra otro dios como yo.

15 F or now I had put forth my hand, and smitten thee and thy people with pestilence, and thou hadst been cut off from the earth:

Voy a extender ahora mi mano, y a ti y a tu pueblo los heriré con una plaga, y tú dejarás de existir.

16 b ut in very deed for this cause have I made thee to stand, to show thee my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

A decir verdad, yo te he puesto para mostrar en ti mi poder, y para que mi nombre sea proclamado en toda la tierra.

17 A s yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go?

¿Aun así, en tu soberbia, retienes a mi pueblo y no lo dejas ir?

18 B ehold, to-morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now.

Pues mañana a estas horas haré que caiga sobre Egipto un granizo muy pesado, como nunca antes lo hubo desde que Egipto se fundó hasta ahora.

19 N ow therefore send, hasten in thy cattle and all that thou hast in the field; for every man and beast that shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.

Así que manda recoger tu ganado, y todo lo que tienes en el campo, porque el granizo caerá sobre todo hombre o animal que se halle en el campo y que no se guarezca en casa, y morirá.”»

20 H e that feared the word of Jehovah among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses.

Los siervos del faraón que tuvieron temor de la palabra del Señor hicieron que sus criados y su ganado se guarecieran en casa,

21 A nd he that regarded not the word of Jehovah left his servants and his cattle in the field.

pero los que no recibieron en su corazón la palabra del Señor dejaron en el campo a sus criados y sus ganados.

22 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch forth thy hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.

Entonces el Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano hacia el cielo, para que en todo Egipto caiga granizo sobre hombres y animales, y sobre toda la hierba del campo.»

23 A nd Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and Jehovah sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down unto the earth; and Jehovah rained hail upon the land of Egypt.

Y Moisés extendió su vara hacia el cielo, y el Señor hizo que tronara y granizara, y que cayera fuego sobre la tierra. El Señor hizo que cayera granizo sobre todo Egipto.

24 S o there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

Llovió granizo, y fuego mezclado con el granizo; un granizo tan grande, como nunca antes lo hubo en todo Egipto desde que el país fue habitado.

25 A nd the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.

Y en todo Egipto ese granizo hirió todo lo que estaba en el campo, lo mismo a los hombres que a los animales. De igual manera, el granizo destrozó toda la hierba del campo y desgajó todos los árboles del país.

26 O nly in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

El único lugar donde no hubo granizo fue la tierra de Gosén, donde estaban los hijos de Israel.

27 A nd Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: Jehovah is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

Entonces el faraón mandó a llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: «Esta vez he pecado. El Señor es justo, y mi pueblo y yo somos impíos.

28 E ntreat Jehovah; for there hath been enough of these mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.

Oren al Señor para que cesen esos ensordecedores truenos y el granizo. No voy a seguir deteniéndolos. Voy a dejarlos ir.»

29 A nd Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto Jehovah; the thunders shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know that the earth is Jehovah's.

Y Moisés le respondió: «Tan pronto como yo salga de la ciudad, extenderé mis manos al Señor y los truenos cesarán. Ya no habrá más granizo. Así sabrás que la tierra es del Señor.

30 B ut as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear Jehovah God.

Aunque yo sé que ni tú ni tus siervos tendrán todavía temor de la presencia de Dios, el Señor.»

31 A nd the flax and the barley were smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom.

Como la cebada estaba ya espigada, y el lino estaba en caña, tanto éste como aquélla quedaron destrozados;

32 B ut the wheat and the spelt were not smitten: for they were not grown up.

pero el trigo y el centeno no fueron destrozados porque son productos tardíos.

33 A nd Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto Jehovah: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.

En cuanto Moisés salió de la presencia del faraón y estuvo fuera de la ciudad, extendió sus manos al Señor, y cesaron los truenos y el granizo, y la lluvia dejó de caer sobre la tierra.

34 A nd when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.

Pero al ver el faraón que la lluvia había cesado, lo mismo que el granizo y los truenos, se obstinó en seguir pecando, y tanto él como sus siervos endurecieron su corazón.

35 A nd the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the children of Israel go, as Jehovah had spoken by Moses.

De tal manera se endureció el corazón del faraón que no dejó ir a los hijos de Israel, tal y como el Señor lo había dicho por medio de Moisés.
