1 Y e shall make you no idols, neither shall ye rear you up a graven image, or a pillar, neither shall ye place any figured stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am Jehovah your God.

»No se harán ídolos ni esculturas, ni levantarán estatuas, ni colocarán en su país piedras pintadas para adorarlas, porque yo soy el Señor su Dios.

2 Y e shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am Jehovah.

Respetarán mis días de reposo, y mostrarán reverencia por mi santuario. Yo soy el Señor.

3 I f ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;

»Si ustedes siguen mis decretos, y cumplen y practican mis mandamientos,

4 t hen I will give your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

yo haré que llueva a tiempo, y que la tierra produzca, y que los árboles del campo den su fruto.

5 A nd your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time; and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

Aún estarán cosechando su trigo cuando ya será tiempo de la vendimia, y aún estarán vendimiando cuando ya será tiempo de sembrar. Ustedes comerán su pan hasta saciarse, y habitarán la tierra en tranquilidad.

6 A nd I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

Yo haré que haya paz en la tierra, y ustedes dormirán sin sobresaltos, porque yo eliminaré de su tierra los animales salvajes, y la espada no llegará a su país.

7 A nd ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.

Ustedes perseguirán a sus enemigos, y ellos caerán ante ustedes a filo de espada.

8 A nd five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

Bastarán cinco de ustedes para poner en fuga a cien; un centenar de ustedes pondrá en fuga a diez mil, y sus enemigos caerán ante ustedes a filo de espada.

9 A nd I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and will establish my covenant with you.

Yo les mostraré mi favor y los haré crecer y multiplicarse, y afirmaré mi pacto con ustedes.

10 A nd ye shall eat old store long kept, and ye shall bring forth the old because of the new.

Comerán alimentos añejados, y pondrán aparte lo añejo para guardar lo nuevo.

11 A nd I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.

Yo estableceré mi residencia en medio de ustedes, y no los rechazaré.

12 A nd I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.

Andaré entre ustedes, y yo seré su Dios, y ustedes serán mi pueblo.

13 I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bars of your yoke, and made you go upright.

Yo soy el Señor su Dios, que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, para que ya no fueran sus esclavos. Yo rompí las correas de su yugo, para que ustedes pudieran caminar con el rostro en alto. Consecuencias de la desobediencia

14 B ut if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;

»Pero si no me oyen ni cumplen con todos estos mandamientos míos,

15 a nd if ye shall reject my statutes, and if your soul abhor mine ordinances, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant;

sino que desdeñan mis decretos, menosprecian mis estatutos, no practican todos mis mandamientos e invalidan mi pacto,

16 I also will do this unto you: I will appoint terror over you, even consumption and fever, that shall consume the eyes, and make the soul to pine away; and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

esto es lo que yo haré con ustedes: Les enviaré terror, extenuación y fiebre, que los atormentarán y les consumirán los ojos. En vano sembrarán ustedes su semilla, porque sus enemigos se la comerán.

17 A nd I will set my face against you, and ye shall be smitten before your enemies: they that hate you shall rule over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

Yo les volveré la espalda, y ustedes caerán heridos delante de sus enemigos. Éstos serán sus amos, y ustedes huirán sin que nadie los persiga.

18 A nd if ye will not yet for these things hearken unto me, then I will chastise you seven times more for your sins.

»Si a pesar de todo esto, ustedes no me hacen caso, yo los castigaré por sus pecados siete veces más.

19 A nd I will break the pride of your power: and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass;

Venceré la soberbia y el orgullo de ustedes, y haré que el cielo se vuelva como el hierro, y que la tierra se vuelva como el bronce.

20 a nd your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.

De nada servirá que agoten sus fuerzas, porque la tierra no les rendirá ningún producto, ni los árboles del campo les darán su fruto.

21 A nd if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

»Si ustedes siguen oponiéndose a mí, y no quieren oírme, yo lanzaré sobre ustedes plagas siete veces mayores que sus pecados.

22 A nd I will send the beast of the field among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your ways shall become desolate.

Además, enviaré contra ustedes bestias feroces que les arrebatarán sus hijos y destruirán su ganado. A tal grado reducirán el número de ustedes, que sus caminos quedarán desiertos.

23 A nd if by these things ye will not be reformed unto me, but will walk contrary unto me;

»Si después de esto no se corrigen, sino que siguen oponiéndose a mí,

24 t hen will I also walk contrary unto you; and I will smite you, even I, seven times for your sins.

yo también me pondré en contra de ustedes, y siete veces los heriré por sus pecados.

25 A nd I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute the vengeance of the covenant; and ye shall be gathered together within your cities: and I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

Descargaré sobre ustedes la espada de mi venganza, para vindicar mi pacto. Si acaso buscan refugio en sus ciudades, yo enviaré contra ustedes la peste, y ustedes caerán en manos del enemigo.

26 W hen I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.

Cuando yo despedace las espigas, diez mujeres cocerán su pan en un solo horno, y les venderán el pan por peso, de modo que ustedes comerán pero no se saciarán.

27 A nd if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;

»Si después de esto no me oyen, sino que siguen oponiéndose a mí,

28 t hen I will walk contrary unto you in wrath; and I also will chastise you seven times for your sins.

yo descargaré mi enojo sobre ustedes, y siete veces los castigaré por sus pecados.

29 A nd ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

¡Hasta se comerán la carne de sus hijos y sus hijas!

30 A nd I will destroy your high places, and cut down your sun-images, and cast your dead bodies upon the bodies of your idols; and my soul shall abhor you.

Yo destruiré sus lugares altos, derribaré sus imágenes, y echaré sus cadáveres sobre los cuerpos inertes de sus ídolos, y los aborreceré con toda mi alma.

31 A nd I will make your cities a waste, and will bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savor of your sweet odors.

Dejaré desiertas sus ciudades, asolaré sus santuarios, y no aspiraré la fragancia de sus delicados perfumes.

32 A nd I will bring the land into desolation; and your enemies that dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

Asolaré también la tierra, y sus enemigos que allí habiten se quedarán pasmados.

33 A nd you will I scatter among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you: and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.

A ustedes los esparciré por todas las naciones, y los perseguiré con la espada desenvainada. ¡Su tierra quedará asolada, y sus ciudades quedarán desiertas!

34 T hen shall the land enjoy its sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye are in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy its sabbaths.

»Entonces, mientras ustedes estén en el país de sus enemigos, la tierra gozará de sus días de reposo. Mientras la tierra esté asolada, descansará y gozará de sus días de reposo.

35 A s long as it lieth desolate it shall have rest, even the rest which it had not in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.

Todo el tiempo que esté asolada, tendrá el reposo que no tuvo mientras ustedes la habitaron.

36 A nd as for them that are left of you, I will send a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies: and the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as one fleeth from the sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.

A aquellos de ustedes que sobrevivan en la tierra de sus enemigos, les infundiré tal cobardía en el corazón que huirán en cuanto oigan el sonido de una hoja al moverse; huirán como quien huye ante la espada, ¡caerán sin que nadie los persiga!

37 A nd they shall stumble one upon another, as it were before the sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

Tropezarán los unos con los otros, como si huyeran de la espada y aunque nadie los persiga. ¡No podrán hacerles frente a sus enemigos!

38 A nd ye shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

Perecerán entre naciones extrañas, y la tierra de sus enemigos acabará con ustedes.

39 A nd they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

Por causa de su iniquidad, aquellos de ustedes que sobrevivan irán muriendo en los países de sus enemigos, y por la iniquidad de sus padres morirán con ellos.

40 A nd they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me, and also that, because they walked contrary unto me,

»Tal vez reconozcan su iniquidad, y la iniquidad de sus padres, y el hecho de haber pecado contra mí, y que además siempre se opusieron a mí,

41 I also walked contrary unto them, and brought them into the land of their enemies: if then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity;

y que yo también me opuse a ellos y los llevé a la tierra de sus enemigos. Tal vez se humille su corazón incircunciso y reconozcan su pecado.

42 t hen will I remember my covenant with Jacob; and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

En tal caso, yo me acordaré de mi pacto con Jacob, con Isaac y con Abrahán, y me acordaré también de la tierra.

43 T he land also shall be left by them, and shall enjoy its sabbaths, while it lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity; because, even because they rejected mine ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes.

La tierra quedará entonces abandonada por ellos, y gozará de sus días de reposo al quedar desierta por culpa de ellos. Entonces ellos se someterán al castigo de sus iniquidades por haber menospreciado mis ordenanzas y por sentirse hastiados de mis estatutos.

44 A nd yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them; for I am Jehovah their God;

Pero a pesar de todo esto, y aunque ellos se encuentren en el país de sus enemigos, yo no los desecharé ni los aborreceré al grado de consumirlos; no invalidaré mi pacto con ellos, porque yo soy el Señor su Dios.

45 b ut I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am Jehovah.

Al contrario, me acordaré de ellos por causa del pacto antiguo, cuando a la vista de las naciones los saqué de Egipto para ser su Dios. Yo soy el Señor.»

46 T hese are the statutes and ordinances and laws, which Jehovah made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by Moses.

Éstos son los estatutos, ordenanzas y leyes que, por medio de Moisés, estableció el Señor en el monte Sinaí entre él y los hijos de Israel.
