1 T he beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Principio del evangelio de Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios.

2 E ven as it is written in Isaiah the prophet, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way.

Como está escrito en el profeta Isaías: «Yo envío a mi mensajero delante de ti, El cual preparará tu camino.

3 T he voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight;

Una voz clama en el desierto: “Preparen el camino del Señor; Enderecen sus sendas.”»

4 J ohn came, who baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins.

Juan se presentó en el desierto, y bautizaba y proclamaba el bautismo de arrepentimiento para el perdón de pecados.

5 A nd there went out unto him all the country of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem; And they were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

Toda la gente de la provincia de Judea y de Jerusalén acudía a él, y allí en el río Jordán confesaban sus pecados, y Juan los bautizaba.

6 A nd John was clothed with camel's hair, and had a leathern girdle about his loins, and did eat locusts and wild honey.

La ropa de Juan era de pelo de camello, alrededor de la cintura llevaba un cinto de cuero, y se alimentaba de langostas y miel silvestre.

7 A nd he preached, saying, There cometh after me he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.

Al predicar, Juan decía: «Después de mí viene uno más poderoso que yo. ¡Yo no soy digno de inclinarme ante él para desatarle la correa de su calzado!

8 I baptized you in water; But he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit.

A ustedes yo los he bautizado con agua, pero él los bautizará con el Espíritu Santo.» El bautismo de Jesús

9 A nd it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in the Jordan.

Por esos días llegó Jesús desde Nazaret de Galilea, y fue bautizado por Juan en el Jordán.

10 A nd straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent asunder, and the Spirit as a dove descending upon him:

En cuanto Jesús salió del agua, vio que los cielos se abrían y que el Espíritu descendía sobre él como una paloma.

11 A nd a voice came out of the heavens, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.

Y desde los cielos se oyó una voz que decía: «Tú eres mi Hijo amado, en quien me complazco.» Tentación de Jesús

12 A nd straightway the Spirit driveth him forth into the wilderness.

Enseguida, el Espíritu llevó a Jesús al desierto,

13 A nd he was in the wilderness forty days tempted of Satan; And he was with the wild beasts; And the angels ministered unto him.

y allí fue puesto a prueba por Satanás durante cuarenta días. Estaba entre las fieras, y los ángeles lo servían. Jesús principia su ministerio

14 N ow after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,

Después de que Juan fue encarcelado, Jesús fue a Galilea para proclamar el evangelio del reino de Dios.

15 a nd saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe in the gospel.

Decía: «El tiempo se ha cumplido, y el reino de Dios se ha acercado. ¡Arrepiéntanse, y crean en el evangelio!» Jesús llama a cuatro pescadores

16 A nd passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for they were fishers.

Mientras Jesús caminaba junto al lago de Galilea, vio a Simón y a su hermano Andrés. Estaban echando la red al agua, porque eran pescadores.

17 A nd Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

Jesús les dijo: «Síganme, y yo haré de ustedes pescadores de hombres.»

18 A nd straightway they left the nets, and followed him.

Enseguida, ellos dejaron sus redes y lo siguieron.

19 A nd going on a little further, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets.

Un poco más adelante, Jesús vio a otros dos hermanos, Jacobo y Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, quienes estaban en la barca y remendaban sus redes.

20 A nd straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

Enseguida Jesús los llamó, y ellos dejaron a su padre Zebedeo en la barca con los jornaleros, y lo siguieron. Un hombre con un espíritu impuro

21 A nd they go into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught.

Llegaron a Cafarnaún, y en cuanto llegó el día de reposo, Jesús fue a la sinagoga y se dedicó a enseñar.

22 A nd they were astonished at his teaching: For he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.

La gente se admiraba de sus enseñanzas, porque enseñaba como corresponde a quien tiene autoridad, y no como los escribas.

23 A nd straightway there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

De pronto, un hombre que tenía un espíritu impuro comenzó a gritar en la sinagoga:

24 s aying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Nazarene? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

«Oye, Jesús de Nazaret, ¿qué tienes contra nosotros? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? ¡Yo sé quién eres tú! ¡Eres el Santo de Dios!»

25 A nd Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

Pero Jesús lo reprendió, y le dijo: «¡Cállate, y sal de ese hombre!»

26 A nd the unclean spirit, tearing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.

El espíritu impuro sacudió al hombre con violencia y, gritando con todas sus fuerzas, salió de aquel hombre.

27 A nd they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What is this? a new teaching! with authority he commandeth even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.

Todos quedaron muy asombrados, y se preguntaban unos a otros: «¿Y esto qué es? ¿Acaso es una nueva enseñanza? ¡Con toda autoridad manda incluso a los espíritus impuros, y éstos lo obedecen!»

28 A nd the report of him went out straightway everywhere into all the region of Galilee round about.

Y muy pronto la fama de Jesús se difundió por toda la provincia de Galilea. Jesús sana a la suegra de Pedro

29 A nd straightway, when they were come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

En cuanto salieron de la sinagoga, Jesús fue con Jacobo y Juan a la casa de Simón y Andrés.

30 N ow Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever; and straightway they tell him of her:

La suegra de Simón estaba en cama porque tenía fiebre, y enseguida le hablaron de ella.

31 a nd he came and took her by the hand, and raised her up; and the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

Jesús se acercó y, tomándola de la mano, la ayudó a levantarse. Al instante la fiebre se le fue, y ella comenzó a atenderlos. Muchos sanados al ponerse el sol

32 A nd at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were sick, and them that were possessed with demons.

Al anochecer, cuando el sol se puso, llevaron a Jesús a todos los que estaban enfermos y endemoniados.

33 A nd all the city was gathered together at the door.

Toda la ciudad se agolpaba ante la puerta,

34 A nd he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many demons; and he suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.

y Jesús sanó a muchos que sufrían de diversas enfermedades, y también expulsó a muchos demonios, aunque no los dejaba hablar porque lo conocían. Jesús predica en Galilea

35 A nd in the morning, a great while before day, he rose up and went out, and departed into a desert place, and there prayed.

Muy de mañana, cuando todavía estaba muy oscuro, Jesús se levantó y se fue a un lugar apartado para orar.

36 A nd Simon and they that were with him followed after him;

Simón y los que estaban con él comenzaron a buscarlo,

37 a nd they found him, and say unto him, All are seeking thee.

y cuando lo encontraron le dijeron: «Todos te están buscando.»

38 A nd he saith unto them, Let us go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preach there also; for to this end came I forth.

Él les dijo: «Vayamos a las aldeas vecinas, para que también allí predique, porque para esto he venido.»

39 A nd he went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out demons.

Y Jesús recorrió toda Galilea; predicaba en las sinagogas y expulsaba demonios. Jesús sana a un leproso

40 A nd there cometh to him a leper, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

Un leproso se acercó a Jesús, se arrodilló ante él y le dijo: «Si quieres, puedes limpiarme.»

41 A nd being moved with compassion, he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou made clean.

Jesús tuvo compasión de él, así que extendió la mano, lo tocó y le dijo: «Quiero. Ya has quedado limpio.»

42 A nd straightway the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean.

En cuanto Jesús pronunció estas palabras, la lepra desapareció y aquel hombre quedó limpio.

43 A nd he strictly charged him, and straightway sent him out,

Enseguida Jesús le pidió que se fuera, pero antes le hizo una clara advertencia.

44 a nd saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Le dijo: «Ten cuidado de no decírselo a nadie. Más bien, ve y preséntate ante el sacerdote, y ofrece por tu purificación lo que Moisés mandó, para que les sirva de testimonio.»

45 B ut he went out, and began to publish it much, and to spread abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

Pero una vez que aquel hombre se fue, dio a conocer ampliamente lo sucedido, y de tal manera lo divulgó que Jesús ya no podía entrar abiertamente en ninguna ciudad, sino que se quedaba afuera, en lugares apartados. Pero aun así, de todas partes la gente acudía a él.
