1 T o the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, he that walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks:

»Escribe al ángel de la iglesia en Éfeso: Así dice el que lleva siete estrellas en su mano derecha y anda en medio de los siete candeleros de oro:

2 I know thy works, and thy toil and patience, and that thou canst not bear evil men, and didst try them that call themselves apostles, and they are not, and didst find them false;

»Yo conozco tus obras, tu arduo trabajo y tu paciencia. Sé que no soportas a los malvados, que has puesto a prueba a los que dicen ser apóstoles y no lo son, y que has descubierto que son unos mentirosos.

3 a nd thou hast patience and didst bear for my name's sake, and hast not grown weary.

Por causa de mi nombre has resistido, sufrido y trabajado arduamente, sin rendirte.

4 B ut I have this against thee, that thou didst leave thy first love.

Pero tengo contra ti que has abandonado tu primer amor.

5 R emember therefore whence thou art fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I come to thee, and will move thy candlestick out of its place, except thou repent.

Así que ponte a pensar en qué has fallado, y arrepiéntete, y vuelve a actuar como al principio. De lo contrario, vendré a ti y, si no te arrepientes, quitaré tu candelero de su lugar.

6 B ut this thou hast, that thou hatest the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

Pero tienes algo a tu favor: que no soportas las obras de los nicolaítas, las cuales tampoco yo soporto.

7 H e that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh, to him will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.

El que tenga oídos, que oiga lo que el Espíritu dice a las iglesias. Al que salga vencedor, le permitiré comer del árbol de la vida, el cual está en medio del paraíso de Dios. Mensaje a la iglesia de Esmirna

8 A nd to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These things saith the first and the last, who was dead, and lived again:

»Escribe al ángel de la iglesia en Esmirna: Así dice el primero y el último, el que estuvo muerto y ha vuelto a vivir:

9 I know thy tribulation, and thy poverty (but thou art rich), and the blasphemy of them that say they are Jews, and they art not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

»Yo conozco tus obras, tus sufrimientos, y tu pobreza (aunque en realidad eres rico). Sé cómo te calumnian los que dicen ser judíos, pero que en realidad no son sino una sinagoga de Satanás.

10 F ear not the things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

No tengas miedo de lo que vas a sufrir, pues el diablo pondrá a prueba a algunos de ustedes y los echará en la cárcel, y allí tendrán que sufrir durante diez días. Tú sé fiel hasta la muerte, y yo te daré la corona de la vida.

11 H e that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

El que tenga oídos, que oiga lo que el Espíritu dice a las iglesias: El que salga vencedor, no sufrirá el daño de la segunda muerte. Mensaje a la iglesia de Pérgamo

12 a nd to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These things saith he that hath the sharp two-edged sword:

»Escribe al ángel de la iglesia en Pérgamo: Así dice el que tiene la espada aguda de doble filo:

13 I know where thou dwellest, even where Satan's throne is; and thou holdest fast my name, and didst not deny my faith, even in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwelleth.

»Yo sé dónde vives, y dónde está el trono de Satanás. Sin embargo, te mantienes fiel a mi nombre, y no has negado mi fe, ni siquiera cuando a Antipas, mi testigo fiel, lo mataron en esa ciudad, donde vive Satanás.

14 B ut I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there some that hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.

Pero tengo algunas cosas contra ti. Tienes contigo a los que se aferran a la doctrina de Balaam, el que enseñó a Balac a poner tropiezos a los hijos de Israel, a hacerlos comer de lo sacrificado a los ídolos, y a caer en inmoralidades sexuales.

15 S o hast thou also some that hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans in like manner.

También tienes contigo a los que se aferran a la doctrina de los nicolaítas.

16 R epent therefore; or else I come to thee quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth.

Así que, ¡arrepiéntete! De lo contrario, pronto vendré a ti, y con la espada de mi boca pelearé contra ellos.

17 H e that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh, to him will I give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, which no one knoweth but he that receiveth it.

El que tenga oídos, que oiga lo que el Espíritu dice a las iglesias: Al que salga vencedor, le daré a comer del maná escondido, y le daré también una piedrecita blanca; en ella está escrito un nombre nuevo, que nadie conoce sino el que lo recibe. Mensaje a la iglesia de Tiatira

18 A nd to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet are like unto burnished brass:

»Escribe al ángel de la iglesia en Tiatira: Así dice el Hijo de Dios, cuyos ojos son como una llama de fuego, y cuyos pies se asemejan al bronce pulido:

19 I know thy works, and thy love and faith and ministry and patience, and that thy last works are more than the first.

»Yo conozco tus obras, tu amor, y tu fe; tu servicio y tu paciencia. También sé que tus últimas obras son mejores que las primeras.

20 B ut I have this against thee, that thou sufferest the woman Jezebel, who calleth herself a prophetess; and she teacheth and seduceth my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

Pero tengo algunas cosas contra ti: Tú toleras a Jezabel, esa mujer que se llama profetisa, pero que seduce a mis siervos y los lleva a incurrir en inmoralidad sexual y a comer lo sacrificado a los ídolos.

21 A nd I gave her time that she should repent; and she willeth not to repent of her fornication.

Le he dado tiempo para que se arrepienta, pero no quiere renunciar a su inmoralidad sexual.

22 B ehold, I cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of her works.

Por tanto, a ella y a los que con ella adulteran los haré caer en cama; y si no se arrepienten de sus malas obras, los haré sufrir en gran manera.

23 A nd I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto each one of you according to your works.

Y heriré de muerte a sus hijos, y todas las iglesias sabrán que yo soy el que escudriña la mente y el corazón; y a cada uno de ustedes le daré según lo que haya hecho.

24 B ut to you I say, to the rest that are in Thyatira, as many as have not this teaching, who know not the deep things of Satan, as they are wont to say; I cast upon you none other burden.

Pero a ustedes y a los demás que están en Tiatira, y que no siguen esa doctrina ni han conocido lo que ellos llaman “las profundidades de Satanás”, yo les digo que no les impondré ninguna carga más;

25 N evertheless that which ye have, hold fast till I come.

pero deben conservar lo que tienen hasta que yo venga.

26 A nd he that overcometh, and he that keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give authority over the nations:

Al que salga vencedor y cumpla hasta el final con lo que yo mando, le daré autoridad sobre las naciones,

27 a nd he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to shivers; as I also have received of my Father:

la misma que he recibido de mi Padre. Y gobernará a las naciones con cetro de hierro, y las despedazará como a un vaso de alfarero.

28 a nd I will give him the morning star.

Además, le daré la estrella de la mañana.

29 H e that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.

El que tenga oídos, que oiga lo que el Espíritu dice a las iglesias.
