1 N jë bir i urtë dëgjon mësimet e atit të vet, por tallësi nuk e dëgjon qortimin.

¶ A wise son takes his father’s chastening: but a scorner does not hear rebuke.

2 N ga fryti i gojës së tij njeriu do të hajë atë që është e mirë, por shpirti i të pabesëve do të ushqehet me dhunë.

¶ Of the fruit of his mouth man shall eat well: but the soul of the transgressors shall starve.

3 K ush kontrollon gojën e tij mbron jetën e vet, por ai që i hap shumë buzët e tij shkon drejt shkatërrimit.

¶ He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: but he that opens his lips often shall have calamity.

4 S hpirti i përtacit dëshiron dhe nuk ka asgjë, por shpirti i atyre që janë të kujdesshëm do të kënaqet plotësisht.

¶ The soul of the sluggard desires, and attains nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

5 I drejti e urren gënjeshtrën, por i pabesi është i neveritshëm dhe do të turpërohet.

¶ The righteous man hates lying: but the wicked man makes himself loathsome, and abominable.

6 D rejtësia ruan atë që ndjek një rrugë të ndershme, por pabesia e rrëzon mëkatarin.

¶ Righteousness keeps the one of the perfect way: but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

7 K a nga ata që sillen si një i pasur, por nuk kanë asgjë; përkundrazi ka nga ata që sillen si një i varfër, por kanë shumë pasuri.

¶ There are those that make themselves rich, yet have nothing: there are those that make themselves poor, yet have great riches.

8 P asuritë e një njeriu shërbejnë për të shpërblyer jetën e tij, por i varfëri nuk ndjen asnjë kërcënim.

¶ The redemption of a man’s life is his riches: but the poor does not hear rebuke.

9 D rita e të drejtëve shkëlqen bukur, por llamba e të pabesëve do të shuhet.

¶ The light of the righteous shall rejoice: but the fire of the wicked shall be put out.

10 N ga krenaria rrjedhin vetëm grindjet, por dituria është me ata që u kushtojnë kujdes këshillave.

¶ Pride shall certainly give birth to contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

11 P asuria e përftuar në mënyrë jo të ndershme do të katandiset në pak gjëra, por atij që e grumbullon me mund do t’i shtohet ajo.

¶ The riches of vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathers by labour shall increase.

12 P ritja e zgjatur e ligështon zemrën, por dëshira e plotësuar është një dru i jetës.

¶ Hope deferred makes the heart sick: but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.

13 A i që përçmon fjalën do të shkatërrohet, por ai që respekton urdhërimin do të shpërblehet.

¶ Whosoever despises the word shall perish by it: but he that fears the commandment shall be rewarded.

14 M ësimet e të urtit janë burim jete për t’i evituar dikujt leqet e vdekjes.

¶ The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

15 G jykimi i mirë siguron favor, por veprimi i të pabesëve është i dëmshëm.

¶ Good understanding brings forth grace: but the way of transgressors is hard.

16 Ç do njeri i matur vepron me dituri, por budallai kapardiset me marrëzinë e tij.

¶ Every sane man works according to wisdom: but the fool shall manifest his folly.

17 L ajmëtari i keq bie në telashe, por lajmëtari besnik sjell shërim.

¶ A bad messenger shall fall into evil: but a faithful ambassador is medicine.

18 M jerimi dhe turpi do të vjinë mbi atë që nuk pranon korrigjimin, por ai që dëgjon qortimin do të nderohet.

¶ Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuses chastening: but he that regards reproof shall be honoured.

19 D ëshira e realizuar është e ëmbël për shpirtin, por për budallenjtë është një gjë e neveritshme largimi nga e keqja.

¶ The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.

20 K ush shkon me të urtët bëhet i urtë, por shoku i budallenjve do të bëhet i keq.

¶ He that walks with wise men shall be wise, but the companion of fools shall be destroyed.

21 E keqja përndjek mëkatarët, por i drejti do të shpërblehet me të mirën.

¶ Evil pursues sinners, but to the righteous good shall be repaid.

22 N jeriu i mirë i lë një trashëgim bijve të bijve të tij, por pasuria e mëkatarit vihet mënjanë për të drejtin.

¶ A good man shall leave an inheritance to his children’s children, and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

23 A ra e punuar e të varfërve jep ushqim me shumicë, por ka nga ata që vdesin për mungesë drejtësie.

¶ In the fallow ground of the poor there is much bread, but it is lost for lack of judgment.

24 K ush e kursen shufrën urren birin e vet, por ai që e do e korrigjon me kohë.

¶ He that cuts short chastening hates his son, but he that loves him chastens him early.

25 I drejti ha sa të ngopet, por barku i të pabesëve vuan nga uria.

¶ The righteous eats until his soul is satisfied, but the belly of the wicked shall lack.
