1 A tëherë Jona iu lut Zotit, Perëndisë të tij, nga barku i peshkut dhe tha:

¶ Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly,

2 " Në fatkeqësinë time i thirra Zotit dhe ai m’u përgjigj; nga gjiri i Sheolit i thirra dhe ti e dëgjove zërin tim.

and said, I cried by reason of my tribulation unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and thou didst hear my voice.

3 M ë hodhe në një vend të thellë, në zemër të deteve, rryma më mori dhe gjithë dallgët e tua dhe valët e tua më kaluan sipër.

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about; all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

4 A tëherë thashë: U dëbova nga prania jote. Megjithatë do të shikoj akoma në drejtim të tempullit tënd të shenjtë.

Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will see thy holy temple again.

5 U jërat më kanë rrethuar deri në shpirt, humnera më ka mbështjellë, algat u mblodhën rreth kokës sime.

The waters compassed me about, even to the soul, the depth closed me round about; the weeds were wrapped about my head.

6 Z brita deri në themelet e maleve, toka mbylli shufrat e saj pas meje për gjithnjë, por ti e ngrite jetën time nga gropa, o Zot, Perëndia im.

I descended to the roots of the mountains; the earth put her bars about me for ever; yet thou hast brought up my life out of the grave, O LORD my God.

7 K ur shpirti im po ligështohej brenda meje, kujtova Zotin, dhe lutja ime arriti deri te ti, në tempullin tënd të shenjtë.

When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer entered in unto thee in thy holy temple.

8 A ta që jepen pas kotësive të rreme braktisin vetë burimin e hirit të tyre.

Those that observe lying vanities forsake his mercy.

9 P or unë me zëra lëvdimi do të ofroj flijime dhe do të plotësoj betimet që kam bërë. Shpëtimi i përket Zotit".

But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed; that saving comes of the LORD.

10 A tëherë Zoti i foli peshkut dhe peshku e volli Jonan në breg.

¶ And the LORD spoke unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
