1 A tëherë njerëzit e Kiriath-Jearimit erdhën, e çuan lart arkën e Zotit dhe e vendosën në shtëpinë e Abinadadit në kodër, dhe shenjtëruan të birin Eleazarin që të ruante arkën e Zotit.

¶ And the men of Kirjathjearim came and carried up the ark of the LORD and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.

2 S humë kohë kishte kaluar nga dita që arka ishte vendosur në Kiriath-Jearim; kishin kaluar njëzet vjet dhe tërë shtëpia e Izraelit i ankohej Zotit.

And it came to pass while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long, for it was twenty years, and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.

3 A tëherë Samueli i foli tërë shtëpisë së Izraelit, duke thënë: "Në rast se ktheheni tek Zoti me gjithë zemër, hiqni nga gjiri juaj perënditë e huaja dhe Ashtarithin dhe mbani zemrën tuaj tek Zoti dhe i shërbeni vetëm atij, atëherë ai do t’ju çlirojë nga duart e Filistejve".

¶ And Samuel spoke unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you and prepare your hearts unto the LORD and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

4 K ështu bijtë e Izraelit hoqën mënjanë Baalët dhe Ashtarothët dhe i shërbyen vetëm Zotit.

Then the sons of Israel did put away the Baalim and Ashtaroth and served the LORD only.

5 P astaj Samueli tha: "Mblidhni tërë Izraelin në Mitspah dhe unë do t’i lutem Zotit për ju".

And Samuel said, Gather all Israel in Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the LORD.

6 K ështu ata u mblodhën në Mitspah, morën ujë dhe e derdhën përpara Zotit; pastaj po atë ditë agjëruan dhe atje thanë: "Kemi mëkatuar kundër Zotit". Samueli i gjykoi bijtë e Izraelit në Mitspah.

And they gathered together in Mizpeh and drew water and poured it out before the LORD and fasted on that day and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the sons of Israel in Mizpeh.

7 K ur Filistejtë mësuan që bijtë e Izraelit ishin mbledhur në Mitspah, princat e Filistejve u nisën kundër Izraelit. Kur bijtë e Izraelit dëgjuan këtë patën frikë nga Filistejtë.

¶ And when the Philistines heard that the sons of Israel were gathered together in Mizpeh, the cardinals of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the sons of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.

8 A tëherë bijtë e Izraelit i thanë Samuelit: "Mos e ndërpre klithmën tënde për neve tek Zoti, që ai të na shpëtojë nga duart e Filistejve".

And the sons of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.

9 K ështu Samueli mori një qengj pirës dhe e ofroi tërësisht si olokaust Zotit; Samueli i thirri Zotit për Izraelin dhe Zoti ia plotësoi kërkesën.

And Samuel took a sucking lamb and offered it for a burnt offering completely unto the LORD, and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel, and the LORD heard him.

10 N dërsa Samueli ofronte olokaustin, Filistejtë u afruan për të sulmuar Izraelin; por Zoti bubulloi me buçimë të madhe kundër Filistejve dhe i ngatërroi deri në atë pikë sa u mundën para Izraelit.

And it came to pass as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering that the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines and crushed them, and they were smitten before Israel.

11 N jerëzit e Izraelit dolën nga Mitspahu, i ndoqën Filistejtë dhe i mundën deri poshtë Beth-Karit.

And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh and pursued the Philistines and smote them until they were below Bethcar.

12 A therë Samueli mori një gur e ngriti midis Mitspahut dhe Shenit dhe e quajti Eben-Ezer, duke thënë: "Deri këtu Zoti na ka ndihmuar".

Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpeh and Shen and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Thus far the LORD has helped us.

13 K ështu Filistejtë u poshtëruan dhe nuk u kthyen më të shkelin territorin e Izraelit; dhe dora e Zotit u ngrit kundër Filistejve gjatë gjithë kohës së Samuelit.

¶ So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more into the border of Israel, and the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

14 E dhe qytetet që Filistejtë i kishin marrë Izraelit iu kthyen Izraelit, nga Ekroni deri në Gath. Izraeli çliroi territorin e tij nga duart e Filistejve. Dhe u vendos paqja midis Izraelit dhe Amorejve.

And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel from Ekron even unto Gath with their borders, and Israel delivered them out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorite.

15 S amueli qe gjykatës i Izraelit gjatë gjithë jetës së tij.

And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

16 Ç do vit ai i binte përqark Bethelit, Gilgalit dhe Mitspahut dhe ushtronte funksionin e gjyqtarit të Izraelit mbi tërë këto vende.

And he went from year to year in circuit to Bethel and Gilgal and Mizpeh and judged Israel in all those places.

17 P astaj kthehej në Ramah, sepse aty ishte shtëpia e tij. Aty e gjykonte Izraelin dhe po aty ngriti një altar për Zotin.

Then he would return to Ramah, for there was his house, and there he judged Israel, and there he built an altar unto the LORD.
