1 D he tani ju, o pasanikë: qani dhe vajtoni për të këqijat që do t’ju zënë!

¶ Come now, Oh ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

2 P asuria juaj u kalb dhe rrobat tuaja i brejti tenja.

Your riches are rotten, and your garments are motheaten.

3 A ri dhe argjendi juaj u ndryshkën, dhe ndryshku i tyre do të jetë një dëshmi kundër jush dhe do t’ju përpijë mishërat si zjarr; keni mbledhur thesare në ditët e fundit.

Your gold and silver is corrupted with rust; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you and shall completely eat your flesh, as fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

4 J a, paga që u keni ngrënë puntorëve që ju korrën arat, po këlthet; dhe klithmat e atyre që korrën, arritën në vesh të Zotit të ushtrive.

Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped your fields (which you have kept back by fraud) cries out; and the cries of those who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of the hosts.

5 J etuat mbi tokë ndër qejfe dhe shkapërderdhje; i ushqyet zemrat tuaja si për ditë të të therurit.

Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth and been wanton; ye have refreshed your hearts, as in the day of slaughter of sacrifices.

6 D ënuat dhe vratë të drejtin: ai nuk ju kundërshtoi.

Ye have condemned and murdered the just, and he does not resist you.

7 T ani, pra, vëllezër, jini të durueshëm deri në ardhjen e Zotit; shikoni si e pret me durim bujku frytin e çmuar të tokës, deri sa të marrë shiun e parë dhe të fundit.

Be patient, therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently until it receives the early and latter rain.

8 J ini të durueshëm edhe ju dhe forconi zemrat tuaja, sepse ardhja e Zotit është afër.

Be ye also patient and confirm your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws near.

9 M os u ankoni nga njeri tjetri, vëllezër, që të mos dënoheni; ja, gjykatësi është te dera.

Complain not one against another, brethren, that ye not be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.

10 O vëllezër të mi, merrni si shembull vuajtjeje dhe durimi profetët, që folën në emër të Zotit.

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

11 J a, ne shpallim të lum ata që duruan; ju keni dëgjuar për durimin e Jobit, dhe e keni parë fatin përfundimtar që Zoti i rezervoi, sepse Zoti është plot mëshirë e dhembshuri.

Behold, we count blessed those who endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is very merciful, and full of compassion.

12 D he, para së gjithash, vëllezër të mi, mos bëni be as për qiellin as për dheun, as mos bëni ndonjë be tjetër; por le të jetë “po” -ja juaj “po” dhe “jo” -ja “jo,” që të mos bini nën dënim.

¶ But above all things, my brethren, do not swear by heaven or by the earth or by any other oath, but let your yes be yes and your no, no; lest ye fall into condemnation.

13 A vuan ndonjë nga ju? Le të lutet. A është i gëzuar ndokush? Le të këndojë psalme!

Is anyone among you afflicted? let them pray. Is anyone happy? let them sing.

14 A është i sëmurë ndonjë nga ju? Le të thërrasë pleqtë e kishës dhe ata të luten përmbi të, dhe le ta lyejnë me vaj në emër të Zotit,

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the congregation; and let them pray for him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;

15 d he lutja e besimit do ta shpëtojë të sëmurin dhe Zoti do ta mëkëmbë; dhe nëse ka bërë mëkate, ato do t’i falen.

and the prayer of faith shall cause the one who is sick to be saved, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he shall be forgiven them.

16 R rëfeni fajet njeri tjetrit dhe lutuni për njeri tjetrin, që të shëroheni; shumë fuqi ka lutja e të drejtit kur bëhet me gjithë shpirt.

Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that ye may be whole. The effectual prayer of the righteous is very powerful.

17 E lia ishte një njeri me të njëtat pasionet tona, dhe u lut intensivisht që të mos binte shi, edhe nuk ra shi mbi dhe për tre vjet e gjashtë muaj.

Elijah was a man subject to passions like unto ours, and he asked in prayer that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.

18 D he u lut përsëri dhe qielli dha shi edhe dheu dha frytin e vet.

And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

19 V ëllezër, në qoftë se ndonjë nga ju del nga rruga e së vërtetës dhe dikush e kthen,

Brethren, if any of you have erred from the truth, and someone should convert him;

20 l e ta dijë se ai që e kthen mëkatarin nga të gabuarit e rrugës së tij, do të shpëtojë një shpirt nga vdekja dhe do të mbulojë një shumicë mëkatesh.

let that one know, that whosoever causes the sinner to convert from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.
