1 G ive ye thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; for his loving-kindness for ever.

Daţi mulţumire Domnului, căci este bun, căci veşnică-I este îndurarea!

2 L et the redeemed of Jehovah say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the oppressor,

Aşa să zică răscumpăraţii Domnului, cei pe care i-a răscumpărat din mâna duşmanului,

3 A nd gathered out of the countries, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the sea.

pe care i-a adunat de pe cuprinsul ţărilor: de la răsărit şi de la apus, de la nord şi de la sud.

4 T hey wandered in the wilderness in a desert way, they found no city of habitation;

Ei rătăceau prin pustie, pe o cale neumblată, fără să găsească o cetate în care să locuiască.

5 H ungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them:

Flămânzi şi însetaţi, li se lihnise sufletul în ei.

6 T hen they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, he delivered them out of their distresses,

Atunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

7 A nd he led them forth by a right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

I-a călăuzit pe o cale dreaptă, ca să meargă spre o cetate în care să locuiască.

8 L et them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;

Să-L laude deci pe Domnul pentru îndurarea Lui şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

9 F or he hath satisfied the longing soul and filled the hungry soul with good.

Căci El a potolit sufletul însetat şi a săturat sufletul flămând.

10 S uch as inhabit darkness and the shadow of death, bound in affliction and iron,

Celor ce locuiau în întuneric şi în umbra morţii, legaţi în chin şi în fiare,

11 B ecause they had rebelled against the words of God, and had despised the counsel of the Most High; …

pentru că se răzvrătiseră faţă de mesajele lui Dumnezeu şi dispreţuiseră sfatul Celui Preaînalt,

12 A nd he bowed down their heart with labour; they stumbled, and there was none to help:

El le-a smerit inima prin necaz; ei se clătinaseră şi nu era nimeni să-i ajute.

13 T hen they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, he saved them out of their distresses;

Atunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

14 H e brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in sunder.

I-a scos din întuneric şi din umbra morţii şi le-a rupt legăturile.

15 L et them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;

Să-L laude deci pe Domnul pentru îndurarea Lui şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

16 F or he hath broken the gates of bronze, and cut asunder the bars of iron.

Căci El a zdrobit porţi de bronz şi a tăiat zăvoare de fier.

17 F ools, because of their way of transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted;

Ei ajunseseră nebuni din cauza căii lor nelegiuite şi se nenorociseră din cauza păcatelor lor.

18 T heir soul abhorreth all manner of food, and they draw near unto the gates of death:

Sufletul lor se dezgustase de orice hrană şi ajunseseră la porţile morţii.

19 T hen they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, he saveth them out of their distresses;

Atunci, în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i-a eliberat din necazurile lor.

20 H e sendeth his word, and healeth them, and delivereth them from their destructions.

Le-a trimis Cuvântul Lui, i-a tămăduit şi i-a scăpat din groapă.

21 L et them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men,

Să-L laude deci pe Domnul pentru îndurarea Lui şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

22 A nd let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works in joyful song.

Să aducă jertfe de mulţumire şi să povestească lucrările Lui cu strigăte de bucurie!

23 T hey that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters,

Cei ce coborau pe mare cu corăbiile, cei ce făceau negoţ pe ape mari,

24 T hese see the works of Jehovah, and his wonders in the deep.

au văzut ei înşişi lucrările Domnului şi minunile Lui din adâncuri.

25 F or he speaketh, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof:

Când a grăit El, s-a iscat o furtună năprasnică, care a ridicat talazurile mării.

26 T hey mount up to the heavens, they go down to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble;

Se suiau spre ceruri şi se coborau în adâncuri; sufletul li se înmuiase din cauza nenorocirii.

27 T hey reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and they are at their wits' end:

Se clătinau şi se mişcau ca un om beat; toată înţelepciunea lor fusese înghiţită.

28 T hen they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses;

Atunci, în strâmtorarea lor, ei au strigat către Domnul, şi El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

29 H e maketh the storm a calm, and the waves thereof are still:

A liniştit furtuna, iar valurile s-au potolit.

30 A nd they rejoice because they are quiet; and he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Ei s-au bucurat că acestea s-au liniştit, iar El i-a condus la limanul dorit.

31 L et them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;

Să-L laude deci pe Domnul pentru îndurarea Lui şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

32 L et them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the session of the elders.

Să-L înalţe în adunarea poporului şi să-L înalţe în sfatul bătrânilor!

33 H e maketh rivers into a wilderness, and water-springs into dry ground;

El preface râurile în pustiu şi izvoarele de ape în pământ uscat

34 A fruitful land into a plain of salt, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

şi pământul roditor în pământ sterp, din pricina răutăţii locuitorilor ţării.

35 H e maketh the wilderness into a pool of water, and the dry land into water-springs;

El preface pustia într-o vale cu apă şi ţinutul arid în izvoare de ape.

36 A nd there he maketh the hungry to dwell, and they establish a city of habitation;

Aşază acolo pe cei flămânzi, iar ei îşi întemeiază o cetate în care să locuiască,

37 A nd sow fields, and plant vineyards, which yield fruits of increase;

îşi seamănă ogoare, îşi plantează vii şi au recolte bogate.

38 A nd he blesseth them, so that they are multiplied greatly; and he suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

El îi binecuvântează, astfel încât se înmulţesc foarte mult, iar vitele nu li le împuţinează.

39 A nd they are diminished and brought low, through oppression, adversity, and sorrow:

Când sunt împuţinaţi şi umiliţi din pricina asupririi, a necazului şi a suferinţei,

40 H e poureth contempt upon nobles, and causeth them to wander in a pathless waste;

El revarsă dispreţ asupra nobililor şi-i face să rătăcească prin pustietate fără drum.

41 B ut he secureth the needy one on high from affliction, and maketh families like flocks.

Îi ridică însă pe cei nevoiaşi din sărăcie şi le înmulţeşte familiile ca pe o turmă.

42 T he upright shall see it, and rejoice; and all unrighteousness shall stop its mouth.

Cei drepţi văd şi se bucură şi orice nedreptate îşi închide gura.

43 W hoso is wise, let him observe these things, and let them understand the loving-kindnesses of Jehovah.

Cine este înţelept, să păzească aceste lucruri şi să ia aminte la marea îndurare a Domnului!
