1 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

2 S on of man, set thy face against Jerusalem, and drop against the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,

„Fiul omului, îndreaptă-ţi faţa spre Ierusalim, predică împotriva sanctuarelor şi profeţeşte împotriva ţării lui Israel.

3 a nd say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and I will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.

Spune ţării lui Israel că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Iată, sunt împotriva ta, şi de aceea Îmi voi scoate sabia din teacă şi-l voi tăia din tine atât pe cel drept, cât şi pe cel rău.

4 S eeing that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh, from the south to the north;

De vreme ce sunt pe cale să tai din tine atât pe cel drept, cât şi pe cel rău, sabia Mea va ieşi din teacă împotriva tuturor făpturilor, din sud până în nord.

5 a nd all flesh shall know that I Jehovah have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath: it shall not return any more.

Şi toate făpturile vor şti că Eu, Domnul, Mi-am scos sabia din teacă; ea nu se va întoarce înapoi.»

6 S igh then, thou son of man; with breaking of the loins, and with bitterness sigh before their eyes.

Iar tu, fiul omului, gemi! Gemi sub privirile lor cu inima zdrobită şi cu amărăciune!

7 A nd it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore dost thou sigh? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall languish, and all knees shall melt into water: behold, it cometh; it is here, saith the Lord Jehovah.

Când te vor întreba de ce gemi, să le răspunzi astfel: «Din pricina veştii care soseşte! Orice inimă se va descuraja şi toate mâinile vor slăbi; orice duh va leşina şi toţi genunchii vor fi ca apa. Iat-o că vine! Este foarte aproape, zice Stăpânul Domn.“

8 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

9 S on of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished.

„Fiul omului, profeţeşte şi spune că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «O sabie, o sabie este ascuţită şi lustruită.

10 I t is sharpened for sore slaughter, it is furbished that it may glitter. Shall we then make mirth, The sceptre of my son contemneth all wood?

Este ascuţită pentru măcel şi lustruită ca să scânteieze ca fulgerul. Să ne bucurăm în sceptrul fiului Meu, Iuda ? Sabia nesocoteşte orice copac.

11 A nd he hath given it to be furbished that it may be handled. The sword,—it is sharpened, and it is furbished to give it into the hand of the slayer.

El a dat-o să fie lustruită şi să poată fi ţinută în mână. Ea este o sabie ascuţită şi lustruită ca să fie pusă în mâna celui ce ucide.

12 C ry and howl, son of man; for it shall be against my people, it shall be against all the princes of Israel: they are given up to the sword along with my people: smite therefore upon the thigh.

Strigă şi tânguieşte-te, fiul omului, căci ea este scoasă împotriva poporului Meu şi împotriva tuturor prinţilor lui Israel; ei sunt daţi sabiei împreună cu poporul Meu. De aceea loveşte-ţi coapsa!

13 F or the trial; and what if even the contemning sceptre shall be no ? saith the Lord Jehovah.

Poporul va fi încercat. Ce se va întâmpla dacă sceptrul pe care sabia îl nesocoteşte va fi îndepărtat? zice Stăpânul Domn.»

14 A nd thou, son of man, prophesy, and smite thy hands together; for the sword shall be doubled the third time: it is the sword of the slain, the sword that hath slain the great one, which encompasseth them privily.

Tu, fiul omului, profeţeşte şi bate din palme! «Fie ca sabia să lovească de două ori, ba chiar de trei ori. Este o sabie pentru prăpăd, pentru un mare prăpăd, o sabie care îi împresoară!

15 I n order that the heart may melt, and the stumbling-blocks be multiplied, I have set the threatening sword against all their gates: ah! it is made glittering, it is whetted for the slaughter.

Pentru ca inimile să se descurajeze şi mulţi să se poticnească, am pus sabia pentru înjunghiere la toate porţile lor. Ah, ea este făcută să scânteieze ca fulgerul şi este lustruită pentru măcel!

16 G ather up, go to the right hand, turn thee, go to the left, whithersoever thy face is appointed.

Sabie, loveşte în dreapta, taie în stânga sau oriunde îţi este îndreptat tăişul!

17 A nd I myself will smite my hands together, and I will satisfy my fury: I Jehovah have spoken.

Iar Eu voi bate din palme şi-Mi voi potoli furia!» Eu, Domnul, am vorbit!“

18 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

19 A nd thou, son of man, set thee two ways, by which the sword of the king of Babylon may come—out of one land shall they both come—and make thee a signpost, make it at the head of the way to the city.

„Fiul omului, hotărăşte două drumuri pe care să vină sabia împăratului Babilonului. Amândouă să iasă din aceeaşi ţară. Apoi fă un semn; fă-l la răscrucea drumului spre cetate.

20 A ppoint a way for the coming of the sword to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah at the fenced of Jerusalem.

Să faci în aşa fel încât unul din drumurile pe care trebuie să vină sabia să treacă prin Raba amoniţilor, iar celălalt – prin Iuda, prin fortificaţiile Ierusalimului.

21 F or the king of Babylon standeth at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shaketh arrows, he inquireth of the teraphim, he looketh in the liver.

Căci împăratul Babilonului s-a oprit la răscrucea celor două drumuri ca să afle prin ghicit ce trebuie să facă. El scutură săgeţile, întreabă terafimii şi cercetează ficatul.

22 I n his right hand is the lot of Jerusalem to appoint battering-rams, to open the mouth for bloodshed, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering-rams against the gates, to cast mounds, to build siege-towers.

În mâna lui dreaptă stă sorţul pentru Ierusalim, ca să pregătească berbecii de fier, să dea ordin să înceapă măcelul, să scoată strigăte de război, să pregătească berbecii de fier împotriva porţilor, să înalţe rampe de asalt şi să zidească întărituri.

23 A nd this shall be a false divination in their sight, for them that have sworn oaths; but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.

Dar cei care şi-au încălcat jurămintele pe care i le-au făcut vor crede că ceea ce s-a ghicit nu este decât deşertăciune. El însă le va ţine minte vina aceasta şi îi va prinde.

24 T herefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye make your iniquity to be remembered in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

De aceea, aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Pentru că v-aţi făcut vina de pomină, descoperindu-vă nelegiuirile şi lăsând astfel să vi se vadă păcatele în toate faptele voastre, pentru că aţi făcut aceasta, veţi fi prinşi.

25 A nd thou, profane, wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, at the time of the iniquity of the end,

Cât despre tine, păgân şi ticălos prinţ al lui Israel, căruia ţi-a venit ziua, vremea pedepsei finale,

26 — thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Remove the mitre and take off the crown; what is shall be no. Exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.

aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: ‘Să i se îndepărteze turbanul! Să i se dea jos coroana! Nimic nu va mai fi la fel. Cel smerit va fi înălţat, iar cel înălţat va fi smerit.

27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn it! This also shall be no, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it.

Ruină! Da, ruină! O ruină voi face din el! O ruină cum n-a mai fost vreodată. Şi aceasta până va veni cel care are dreptul asupra lui; lui îl voi da!’»

28 A nd thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus speaketh the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and thou shalt say, A sword, a sword is drawn; for the slaughter is it furbished, that it may consume, that it may glitter:

Iar tu, fiul omului, profeţeşte şi spune că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn drept răspuns la batjocurile amoniţilor: «O sabie, o sabie este pregătită pentru măcel, este lustruită ca să devoreze şi să scânteieze ca fulgerul.

29 w hilst they see vanity for thee, whilst they divine a lie unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are slain, whose day is come at the time of the iniquity of the end.

În ciuda vedeniilor mincinoase despre tine, în ciuda oracolelor înşelătoare cu privire la tine, vei fi pusă la gâtul acelor ticăloşi care vor fi ucişi, cărora le-a sosit ziua şi a căror vreme a pedepsei a ajuns la culme.

30 R estore to its sheath. I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy birth.

Bagă sabia înapoi în teacă! În locul în care ai fost făurită, în ţara ta de origine, acolo te voi judeca.

31 A nd I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow upon thee the fire of my wrath, and give thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy.

Îmi voi revărsa peste tine indignarea şi voi sufla peste tine cu focul furiei Mele. Te voi da pe mâna barbarilor, a celor ce sunt pricepuţi să distrugă.

32 T hou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt not be remembered: for I Jehovah have spoken.

Vei cădea pradă focului, sângele tău va fi vărsat în mijlocul ţării şi nu vei mai fi pomenită, căci Eu, Domnul, am vorbit!»“
