1 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, eat what thou findest; eat this roll, and go, speak unto the house of Israel.

El mi-a zis: „Fiul omului, mănâncă ceea ce vei găsi înaintea ta, mănâncă sulul acesta, apoi du-te şi vorbeşte-i Casei lui Israel!“

2 S o I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

Mi-am deschis gura şi El mi-a dat să mănânc sulul acela.

3 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll which I give thee. And I ate, and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

El mi-a mai zis: „Fiul omului, hrăneşte-ţi stomacul şi umple-ţi măruntaiele cu sulul pe care ţi l-am dat!“ L-am mâncat şi, în gura mea, sulul a fost dulce ca mierea.

4 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

Apoi El mi-a zis: „Fiul omului, du-te la cei din Casa lui Israel şi spune-le cuvintele Mele!

5 F or thou art not sent to a people of strange language, and of difficult speech, to the house of Israel;

Căci nu eşti trimis la un popor cu o vorbire neînţeleasă şi cu o limbă greoaie, ci la Casa lui Israel.

6 n ot to many peoples of strange language and of difficult speech, whose words thou canst not understand: had I sent thee to them, would they not hearken unto thee?

Nu te trimit la popoare multe, cu vorbirea neînţeleasă şi cu limba greoaie, ale căror cuvinte nu le poţi înţelege. Cu siguranţă, dacă te-aş trimite la ele, te-ar asculta.

7 B ut the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee, for none of them will hearken unto me. For all the house of Israel are hard of forehead and stiff of heart.

Cei din Casa lui Israel însă nu vor dori să te asculte, deoarece nu doresc să Mă asculte pe Mine. Căci toţi cei din Casa lui Israel au fruntea tare şi inima împietrită.

8 B ehold, I have made thy face hard against their faces, and thy forehead hard against their foreheads.

Iată, voi face faţa ta la fel de tare ca feţele lor şi fruntea ta – la fel de tare ca frunţile lor.

9 A s an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead. Fear them not, neither be dismayed at them, for they are a rebellious house.

Voi face fruntea ta ca diamantul, mai tare decât cremenea. Nu te teme de ei şi nu te înspăimânta de feţele lor, căci sunt o Casă răzvrătită!“

10 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, all my words which I shall speak unto thee, receive in thy heart, and hear with thine ears;

El a continuat: „Fiul omului, primeşte în inima ta şi ascultă cu urechile tale toate cuvintele pe care ţi le spun.

11 a nd go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah,—whether they will hear or whether they will forbear.

Mergi de îndată la cei exilaţi din poporul tău! Vorbeşte-le şi, fie că vor asculta, fie că nu vor asculta, să le spui: «Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn!»“

12 A nd the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the sound of a great rushing, Blessed be the glory of Jehovah from his place!

Duhul m-a ridicat şi am auzit înapoia mea un sunet ca vuietul unui mare cutremur: „Binecuvântată fie slava Domnului din Lăcaşul Lui!“

13 — and the sound of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the sound of the wheels beside them, and the sound of a great rushing.

Acest vuiet, ca cel al unui mare cutremur, era vuietul făcut de aripile fiinţelor atunci când se atingeau una de cealaltă şi vuietul roţilor din apropierea lor.

14 A nd the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit, and the hand of Jehovah was strong upon me.

Când m-a ridicat Duhul şi m-a luat, mergeam amărât şi mânios în duhul meu, iar mâna Domnului apăsa tare asupra mea.

15 A nd I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river Chebar, and I sat where they sat; and I sat there astonied among them seven days.

Am ajuns la exilaţii din Tel-Abib, la cei ce locuiau lângă râul Chebar. Acolo unde locuiau, am stat înmărmurit printre ei timp de şapte zile. Ezechiel, străjer peste Israel

16 A nd it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

La sfârşitul celor şapte zile, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

17 S on of man, I have appointed thee a watchman unto the house of Israel, and thou shalt hear the word from my mouth, and give them warning from me.

„Fiul omului, te-am pus străjer peste cei din Casa lui Israel. Când vei auzi vreun cuvânt din gura Mea, să-i avertizezi din partea Mea!

18 W hen I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt certainly die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, that he may live: the same wicked shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thy hand.

Dacă îi voi zice celui nelegiuit: «Sigur vei muri!», iar tu nu-l vei avertiza şi nu-i vei vorbi ca să-l întorci de la calea lui cea rea şi să-i scapi astfel viaţa, cel nelegiuit va muri datorită vinii lui, dar sângele lui îl voi cere din mâna ta.

19 B ut if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Dacă însă îl vei avertiza pe cel nelegiuit, iar el nu se va întoarce de la răutatea lui şi de la calea lui cea rea, atunci acesta va muri datorită vinii lui, iar tu îţi vei scăpa sufletul.

20 A nd when a righteous doth turn from his righteousness, and do what is wrong, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die; because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous acts which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thy hand.

Dacă cel drept se va întoarce de la dreptatea lui şi va săvârşi nedreptate, voi pune înaintea lui o cursă şi el va muri. Dacă nu l-ai avertizat, atunci el va muri în păcatul lui şi nu-i vor fi amintite faptele drepte pe care le-a făcut, iar sângele lui îl voi cere din mâna ta.

21 A nd if thou warn the righteous, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall certainly live, for he hath taken warning; and thou hast delivered thy soul.

Dacă tu însă l-ai avertizat pe cel drept să nu păcătuiască, şi el nu a păcătuit, atunci acesta va trăi, datorită faptului că a fost avertizat, iar tu îţi vei scăpa sufletul.“ Muţenia lui Ezechiel

22 A nd the hand of Jehovah was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the valley, and there I will talk with thee.

Mâna Domnului a fost peste mine acolo şi El mi-a zis: „Ridică-te, du-te în vale şi acolo îţi voi vorbi!“

23 A nd I arose, and went forth into the valley, and behold, the glory of Jehovah stood there, like the glory which I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face.

M-am ridicat şi m-am dus în vale. Şi iată că slava Domnului stătea acolo, întocmai ca slava pe care o văzusem la râul Chebar. Atunci am căzut cu faţa la pământ.

24 A nd the Spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet; and he spoke with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thy house.

Duhul a intrat în mine şi m-a ridicat în picioare. El a vorbit cu mine şi mi-a zis: „Intră în casa ta şi închide-te înăuntru!

25 A nd thou, son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee therewith, and thou shalt not go out among them.

Cât despre tine, fiul omului, vor pune peste tine funii şi te vor lega ca să nu mai poţi ieşi în mijlocul lor.

26 A nd I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover; for they are a rebellious house.

Voi face ca limba ta să se lipească de cerul gurii tale şi vei fi mut, astfel încât nu vei mai putea să-i mustri, căci sunt o Casă răzvrătită.

27 A nd when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

Dar când îţi voi vorbi, îţi voi deschide gura, iar tu le vei spune: «Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn!» Şi cine va vrea să asculte, să asculte, iar cine va refuza să asculte, să nu asculte, căci sunt o Casă răzvrătită.“
