1 S et the trumpet to thy mouth. as an eagle against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and rebelled against my law.

„Du trâmbiţa la gură! Unul ca un vultur vine peste casa Domnului, pentru că au încălcat legământul Meu şi s-au răzvrătit împotriva Legii Mele.

2 T hey shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee;, Israel.

Ei strigă către Mine: «Dumnezeul nostru, noi, Israel, Te cunoaştem!»

3 I srael hath cast off good: the enemy shall pursue him.

Însă Israel a respins binele; de aceea un duşman îl va urmări.

4 T hey have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not; of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

Ei întronează regi, dar fără Mine, pun căpetenii, fără consimţământul Meu. Din argintul şi din aurul lor îşi fac idoli spre propria lor pierzare.

5 T hy calf, O Samaria, hath cast off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will they be incapable of purity?

Viţelul tău este o scârbă, Samario! Mânia Mea este aprinsă împotriva lor. Până când tot nu vor fi în stare să trăiască în curăţie?

6 F or from Israel is this also:—a workman made it, and it is no God: for the calf of Samaria shall be pieces.

Din Israel este idolul acesta! Un meşteşugar l-a făcut şi acesta nu este Dumnezeu. De aceea viţelul Samariei va fi făcut bucăţi.

7 F or they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; should it sprout, it would yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.

Pentru că au semănat vânt, vor secera furtună! Nu vor avea parte de spic cu boabe; din ce va răsări, nu se va putea face făină; şi chiar dacă s-ar putea face, ar înghiţi-o străinii.

8 I srael is swallowed up: now are they become among the nations as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.

Israelul este înghiţit. Acum el a ajuns printre neamuri ca un vas fără valoare.

9 F or they are gone up Assyria a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

Căci s-au dus după ajutor în Asiria ca un măgar sălbatic, rătăcind singuratic. Efraim s-a vândut amanţilor.

10 A lthough they hire among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall begin to be straitened under the burden of the king of princes.

Chiar dacă s-au vândut printre neamuri, acum Eu îi voi strânge. Curând se vor încovoia sub povara pusă de măreţul împărat.

11 B ecause Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.

Deşi Efraim a înmulţit altarele pentru jertfele pentru păcat, ele au devenit pentru el altare pentru păcat.

12 I have prescribed unto him the manifold things of my law: they are counted a strange thing.

Eu le-am scris mulţimea de învăţături din Legea Mea, dar ele sunt privite ca ceva străin.

13 T hey sacrifice flesh the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; Jehovah hath no delight in them. Now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.

Ei înjunghie jertfele pe care Mi le aduc ca daruri şi mănâncă carnea, însă Domnul nu le acceptă. Acum El Îşi va aduce aminte de fărădelegea lor şi-i va pedepsi pentru păcatele lor: se vor întoarce în Egipt.

14 F or Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

Israel L-a uitat pe Făcătorul lui şi şi-a zidit palate, iar Iuda şi-a înmulţit cetăţile fortificate. Însă Eu voi trimite foc în cetăţile lui, iar acesta îi va mistui fortăreţele.“
