1 S et the trumpet to thy mouth. as an eagle against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and rebelled against my law.

“Coloquem a trombeta em seus lábios! Ele vem ameaçador como uma águia sobre o templo do Senhor, porquanto quebraram a minha aliança e se rebelaram contra a minha Lei.

2 T hey shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee;, Israel.

Israel clama a mim: ‘Ó nosso Deus, nós te reconhecemos!’

3 I srael hath cast off good: the enemy shall pursue him.

Mas Israel rejeitou o que é bom; um inimigo o perseguirá.

4 T hey have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not; of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

Eles instituíram reis sem o meu consentimento; escolheram líderes sem a minha aprovação. Com prata e ouro fizeram ídolos para si, para a sua própria destruição.

5 T hy calf, O Samaria, hath cast off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will they be incapable of purity?

Lance fora o seu ídolo em forma de bezerro, ó Samaria! A minha ira se acende contra eles. Até quando serão incapazes de pureza?

6 F or from Israel is this also:—a workman made it, and it is no God: for the calf of Samaria shall be pieces.

Este bezerro procede de Israel! Um escultor o fez. Ele não é Deus. Será partido em pedaços o bezerro de Samaria.

7 F or they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; should it sprout, it would yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.

“Eles semeiam vento e colhem tempestade. Talo sem espiga; que não produz farinha. Ainda que produzisse trigo, estrangeiros o devorariam.

8 I srael is swallowed up: now are they become among the nations as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.

Israel é devorado; agora está entre as nações como algo sem valor;

9 F or they are gone up Assyria a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

foi para a Assíria. O jumento selvagem mantém-se livre, mas Efraim vendeu-se para os seus amantes.

10 A lthough they hire among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall begin to be straitened under the burden of the king of princes.

Embora tenham se vendido às nações, agora os ajuntarei, e logo começarão a definhar sob a opressão do poderoso rei.

11 B ecause Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.

“Embora Efraim tenha construído muitos altares para ofertas pelo pecado, eles se tornaram altares para o pecado.

12 I have prescribed unto him the manifold things of my law: they are counted a strange thing.

Eu lhes escrevi todos os ensinos da minha Lei, mas eles os consideraram algo estranho.

13 T hey sacrifice flesh the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; Jehovah hath no delight in them. Now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.

Eles oferecem sacrifícios e comem a carne, mas o Senhor não se agrada deles. Doravante, ele se lembrará da impiedade deles e castigará os seus pecados: eles voltarão para o Egito.

14 F or Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

Israel esqueceu o seu Criador e construiu palácios; Judá fortificou muitas cidades. Mas sobre as suas cidades enviarei fogo que consumirá suas fortalezas.”
