1 F or Jehovah will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in rest in their own land; and the stranger shall be united to them, and they shall be joined to the house of Jacob.

Dar Domnul va avea milă de Iacov; îl va alege din nou pe Israel şi îl va aşeza în ţara lui. Străinii li se vor alătura şi se vor uni cu Casa lui Iacov.

2 A nd the peoples shall take them and bring them to their place; and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of Jehovah for servants and handmaids; and they shall take them captive whose captives they were, and they shall rule over their oppressors.

Popoarele îi vor lua şi îi vor aduce la locul lor, iar Casa lui Israel le va stăpâni în ţara Domnului, ca pe nişte slujitori şi slujitoare. Îi vor lua captivi pe cei ce-i stăpâniseră şi vor domni peste asupritorii lor.

3 A nd it shall come to pass in the day that Jehovah shall give thee rest from thy sorrow and from thy trouble and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,

În ziua în care Domnul îţi va da odihnă după durerea, necazul şi truda grea la care ai fost supus,

4 t hat thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased,—the exactress of gold ceased!

vei râde de împăratul Babilonului, spunând: «Cum a încetat asupritorul! Cum a încetat furia lui!

5 J ehovah hath broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers.

Domnul a frânt toiagul celor răi şi sceptrul conducătorilor,

6 H e that smote the peoples in wrath with a relentless stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted unsparingly.

pe cel ce, cu mânie, lovea popoarele cu lovituri fără sfârşit, pe cel ce, cu mânie, stăpânea neamurile, persecutându-le fără cruţare.

7 T he whole earth is at rest, is quiet: they break forth into singing.

Întreg pământul se bucură de odihnă şi pace şi toţi oamenii izbucnesc în cântece de bucurie.

8 E ven the cypresses rejoice at thee, the cedars of Lebanon, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

Până şi chiparoşii şi cedrii din Liban se bucură de tine şi zic: ‘De când te afli trântit jos, nimeni nu vine să ne mai taie!’

9 S heol from beneath is moved for thee to meet at thy coming, stirring up the dead for thee, all the he-goats of the earth; making to rise from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

Locuinţa Morţilor de jos e stârnită să te întâmpine la sosire. Ea trezeşte sufletele morţilor ca să te salute, – pe toţi cei ce au fost conducători ai pământului, – îi ridică de pe tronurile lor pe toţi cei ce au fost împăraţi ai neamurilor.

10 A ll of them shall answer and say unto thee, Art thou also become powerless as we; art thou become like unto us!

Toţi vor vorbi şi-ţi vor spune: ‘Acum ai ajuns şi tu la fel de slab ca şi noi; ai devenit ca noi!’

11 — Thy pomp is brought down to Sheol, the noise of thy lyres: the maggot is spread under thee, and worms cover thee.

Fala ta este coborâtă în Locuinţa Morţilor, împreună cu sunetul harfelor tale. Larvele îţi sunt aşternut, iar viermii îţi sunt învelitoare.

12 H ow art thou fallen from heaven, Lucifer, son of the morning! Thou art cut down to the ground, that didst prostrate the nations!

Cum ai căzut din ceruri, luceafăr strălucitor, fiu al zorilor! Cum ai fost doborât la pământ, tu, asupritorul neamurilor!

13 A nd thou that didst say in thy heart, I will ascend into the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit upon the mount of assembly, in the recesses of the north;

Tu ai zis în inima ta: ‘Mă voi înălţa la cer; îmi voi ridica tronul mai presus de stelele lui Dumnezeu! Voi şedea pe muntele adunării, pe înălţimile din nord!

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High:

Mă voi înălţa deasupra norilor, şi mă voi face asemenea Celui Preaînalt!’

15 n one the less art thou brought down to Sheol, to the recesses of the pit.

Dar ai fost coborât în Locuinţa Morţilor, în adâncimile gropii.

16 T hey that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee; they shall consider thee, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that shook kingdoms;

Cei ce te văd te privesc cu luare-aminte şi-şi zic: ‘Acesta să fie omul care a făcut pământul să tremure, care a zguduit împărăţiile,

17 m ade the world as a wilderness, and overthrew the cities thereof; dismissed not his prisoners homewards?

care a făcut lumea să se asemene cu un pustiu, care i-a răsturnat cetăţile şi n-a lăsat pe prizonieri să se întoarcă acasă?’

18 — All the kings of the nations, all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house;

Toţi împăraţii neamurilor, toţi se odihnesc în cinste, fiecare în mormântul său,

19 b ut thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, covered with the slain—those thrust through with the sword, that go down to the stones of the pit: like a carcase trodden under foot.

dar tu eşti aruncat afară din mormântul tău, ca o ramură dispreţuită, acoperit cu cei ucişi, cu cei străpunşi de sabie, cu cei coborâţi în adâncimile gropii, eşti ca un hoit călcat în picioare.

20 T hou shalt not be joined with them in burial; for thou hast destroyed thy land, hast slain thy people. Of the seed of evildoers no mention shall be made for ever.

Tu nu te vei alătura lor în mormânt, pentru că ţi-ai distrus ţara şi ţi-ai ucis poporul.» Urmaşii celor ce fac răul nu vor mai fi pomeniţi vreodată!

21 P repare ye slaughter for his children, because of the iniquity of their fathers; that they may not rise up and possess the earth, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

Pregătiţi măcelul fiilor săi, datorită vinovăţiei părinţilor lor! Să nu se mai ridice vreodată să moştenească ţara şi să acopere faţa pământului cu cetăţi.

22 F or I will rise up against them, saith Jehovah of hosts, and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and scion and descendant, saith Jehovah.

«Mă voi ridica împotriva lor!», rosteşte Domnul Oştirilor. «Voi şterge numele Babilonului şi pe supravieţuitorii lui, voi şterge sămânţa şi pe urmaşii lui!», rosteşte Domnul.

23 A nd I will make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water; and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith Jehovah of hosts.

«Voi face din el un loc pentru bufniţe şi o mlaştină şi îl voi mătura cu mătura nimicirii!», rosteşte Domnul Oştirilor. Profeţie împotriva Asiriei

24 J ehovah of hosts hath sworn saying, Assuredly as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, it shall stand:

Domnul Oştirilor a jurat: «Cum am plănuit, aşa va fi! Cum am hotărât, aşa se va întâmpla!

25 t o break the Assyrian in my land; and upon my mountains will I tread him under foot; and his yoke shall depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

Îl voi zdrobi pe asirian în ţara Mea şi pe munţii Mei îl voi călca în picioare. Jugul lui va fi luat de peste cei din poporul Meu şi povara lui va fi îndepărtată de pe umerii lor.»

26 T his is the counsel which is purposed concerning the whole earth; and this is the hand which is stretched out upon all the nations.

Acesta este planul făcut pentru întreaga lume; aceasta este mâna întinsă peste toate neamurile.

27 F or Jehovah of hosts hath purposed, and who shall frustrate ? And his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

Căci Domnul Oştirilor a întocmit acest plan; cine l-ar putea strica? Mâna Sa este întinsă; cine o va putea întoarce?“ Profeţie împotriva filistenilor

28 I n the year of the death of king Ahaz was this burden:

În anul morţii regelui Ahaz a fost rostită această profeţie:

29 R ejoice not thou, Philistia, all of thee, because the rod that smote thee is broken; for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a viper, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

„Nu vă bucuraţi, voi toţi, filistenilor, pentru că s-a frânt toiagul care vă lovea! Căci o viperă va ieşi din rădăcina şarpelui şi un balaur zburător va fi rodul ei.

30 A nd the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; but I will kill thy root with famine, and thy remnant shall be slain.

În timp ce întâiul născut al săracului va găsi păşune, iar cel nevoiaş se va culca în siguranţă, pe rădăcina ta o voi ucide prin foame; da, de foame îţi va muri rămăşiţa!

31 H owl, O gate! cry, O city! thou, Philistia, art wholly dissolved; for there cometh from the north a smoke, and none remaineth apart in his gatherings.

Jeleşte-te, poartă! Plângi, cetate! Înmuiaţi-vă, filistenilor, cu toţii! Căci un nor de fum vine din nord, şi rândurile oştirii sunt strânse.

32 A nd what shall be answered to the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah hath founded Zion, and the afflicted of his people find refuge in it.

Ce li se va răspunde trimişilor acelui neam? « Domnul a întemeiat Sionul, iar cei nevoiaşi din poporul Său vor găsi refugiu în el.»“
