1 C oncerning the children of Ammon. Thus saith Jehovah: Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? Why is Malcam heir of Gad, and his people dwell in the cities thereof?

Cu privire la amoniţi: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Oare nu mai are Israel fii? Oare nu mai are moştenitori? Atunci de ce a luat Moleh în stăpânire Gadul, iar poporul lui îi locuieşte cetăţile?

2 T herefore behold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will cause the clamour of war to be heard in Rabbah of the children of Ammon; and it shall be a desolate heap; and her towns shall be burned with fire; and Israel shall possess them that possessed him, saith Jehovah.

De aceea, vin zile, zice Domnul, când voi suna strigătul de război împotriva Rabei amoniţilor; ea va ajunge un morman de ruine şi satelor dimprejurul ei li se vor da foc. Atunci Israel îi va izgoni din ţară pe cei ce-l izgoniseră, zice Domnul.

3 H owl, Heshbon! for Ai is laid waste; cry, daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth, lament and run to and fro within the enclosures: for Malcam shall go into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

Gemi, Heşbonule, căci Ai este distrus! Strigaţi, fiice ale Rabei! Încingeţi-vă cu saci şi bociţi; alergaţi încoace şi încolo de-a lungul zidurilor, căci Moleh se duce în captivitate, împreună cu preoţii şi conducătorii lui!

4 W herefore gloriest thou in the valleys? Thy valley shall flow down, O backsliding daughter, that trusteth in her treasures, Who shall come against me?

De ce te mândreşti cu văile tale, cu văile tale care se revarsă de-atâta belşug? O, fiică rătăcită, tu te încrezi în bogăţiile tale şi zici: ‘Cine va veni împotriva mea?’

5 B ehold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord Jehovah of hosts, from all that are about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall assemble the fugitives.

Iată, voi aduce împotriva ta groază din partea tuturor celor din jurul tău, zice Stăpânul, Domnul Oştirilor. Fiecare dintre voi va fi izgonit şi nimeni nu-i va strânge pe fugari.

6 A nd afterwards I will turn the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith Jehovah.

Dar după aceea, îi voi aduce înapoi pe captivii amoniţilor, zice Domnul.»“ Profeţie împotriva Edomului

7 C oncerning Edom. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Is there no more wisdom in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom spent?

Cu privire la Edom: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: «Nu mai este înţelepciune în Teman? Cei chibzuiţi nu mai au sfaturi? A putrezit oare înţelepciunea lor?

8 F lee, turn back, dwell deep down, ye inhabitants of Dedan! For I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I visit him.

Întoarceţi-vă şi fugiţi! Ascundeţi-vă în peşteri adânci, voi, cei care locuiţi în Dedan, căci voi aduce nenorocirea peste Esau, la vremea când îl voi pedepsi.

9 I f grape-gatherers had come to thee, would they not have left a gleaning? If thieves by night, they would destroy only till they had enough.

Dacă ar veni nişte culegători de struguri la tine, n-ar lăsa ei câţiva ciorchini neculeşi? Dacă ar intra la tine nişte hoţi în timpul nopţii, n-ar fura ei doar cât ar avea nevoie?

10 B ut I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, that he is unable to hide himself: his seed is wasted, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.

Eu Însumi îl voi despuia pe Esau, îi voi descoperi toate ascunzătorile lui şi nu se va mai putea ascunde. Copiii, fraţii şi vecinii lui vor pieri, iar el nu va mai fi.

11 L eave thine orphans, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.

Lasă-ţi orfanii, căci Eu îi voi ţine în viaţă, iar văduvele tale să se încreadă în Mine.»“

12 F or thus saith Jehovah: Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup shall assuredly drink; and thou indeed, shouldest thou be altogether unpunished? Thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink.

„Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Iată că cei care nu ar fi trebuit să bea din cupă, vor ajunge să bea! Iar tu să rămâi nepedepsit? Nu, nu vei rămâne nepedepsit, ci vei bea şi tu!

13 F or I have sworn by myself, saith Jehovah, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.

Jur pe Mine Însumi, zice Domnul, că Boţra va deveni o paragină şi o pricină de groază, de râs şi de blestem. Toate cetăţile ei vor deveni o ruină veşnică.»“

14 I have heard a rumour from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent among the nations:—Gather yourselves together, and come against her and rise up for the battle.

„Am auzit un mesaj de la Domnul. Un mesager a fost trimis printre neamuri ca să zică: «Adunaţi-vă şi atacaţi-o! Ridicaţi-vă la luptă!»“

15 F or behold, I have made thee small among the nations, despised among men.

„Iată, te voi face mic între neamuri şi dispreţuit printre oameni!

16 T hy terribleness, the pride of thy heart, hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill. Though thou shouldest make thy nest high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith Jehovah.

Groaza pe care o inspiri şi aroganţa inimii tale te-au înşelat, pe tine care locuieşti în crăpăturile stâncii şi care stai pe vârfurile dealurilor. Chiar dacă ţi-ai înălţa cuibul precum vulturul, şi de acolo te voi doborî, zice Domnul.

17 A nd Edom shall be an astonishment: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss, because of all the plagues thereof.

Edomul va deveni o pricină de groază; toţi cei ce vor trece pe lângă el se vor îngrozi şi vor fluiera, din cauza tuturor rănilor lui.

18 A s in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, and their neighbour cities, saith Jehovah, no one shall dwell there, neither shall a son of man sojourn therein.

Aşa cum au fost nimicite Sodoma şi Gomora şi cetăţile vecine, zice Domnul, tot astfel nici un om nu va mai locui acolo şi nici un muritor nu se va mai stabili în el.

19 B ehold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of the Jordan against the strong habitation; for I will make them suddenly run away from it; and who is a chosen whom I shall appoint over her? For who is like me? and who will assign me a time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

Iată, ca un leu care vine din desişul Iordanului împotriva unui staul trainic, aşa Mă voi repezi şi-l voi pune pe fugă pe Edom din locul unde este. Cine este cel ales de Mine ca să facă aceasta? Cine este ca Mine şi cine Mă va înfrunta? Ce păstor Îmi poate sta împotrivă?“

20 T herefore hear the counsel of Jehovah, which he hath taken against Edom, and his purposes which he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: The little ones of the flock shall certainly draw them away; he shall certainly make their habitation desolate for them.

„De aceea, ascultaţi hotărârea pe care a luat-o Domnul împotriva Edomului şi planurile pe care le-a făcut împotriva locuitorilor din Teman: «Cu siguranţă vor fi târâţi ca nişte oi plăpânde; cu siguranţă El le va distruge staulul.

21 T he earth quaketh at the sound of their fall; there is a cry, the sound whereof is heard in the Red sea.

La sunetul căderii lor se va cutremura pământul şi răsunetul strigătului lor se va auzi până la Marea Roşie.

22 B ehold, he shall come up, and fly as an eagle, and spread forth his wings against Bozrah; and at that day the heart of the mighty men of Edom shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

Iată, duşmanul înaintează ca un vultur care zboară şi îşi întinde aripile deasupra Boţrei. În ziua aceea, inima vitejilor Edomului va fi ca inima unei femei în durerile naşterii.»“ Profeţie împotriva Damascului

23 C oncerning Damascus. Hamath is put to shame, and Arpad; for they have heard evil tidings, they are melted away: there is distress on the sea; it cannot be quiet.

Cu privire la Damasc: „Hamatul şi Arpadul sunt tulburate căci au auzit veşti rele. Se topesc de spaimă; sunt ca o mare învolburată care nu se mai poate potoli.

24 D amascus is grown feeble: she turneth herself to flee, and terror hath seized on her; trouble and sorrows have taken hold of her as of a woman in travail.

Damascul este descurajat. Se întoarce să fugă, dar îl cuprinde panica; îl apucă neliniştea şi durerea, ca pe o femeie în durerile naşterii.

25 H ow is not the town of praise forsaken, the city of my joy!

De ce nu a fost abandonată cetatea aceasta renumită, cetatea bucuriei mele?

26 T herefore shall her young men fall in her streets, and all the men of war be cut off in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts.

De aceea, tinerii ei vor cădea în pieţe; toţi ostaşii ei vor fi reduşi la tăcere în ziua aceea, zice Domnul Oştirilor.

27 A nd I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad.

Voi da foc zidurilor Damascului şi el va mistui palatele Ben-Hadadului.“ Profeţie împotriva Chedarului şi Haţorului

28 C oncerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote. Thus saith Jehovah: Arise, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east.

Cu privire la Chedar şi la regatele Haţorului, pe care Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, le-a cucerit: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Ridicaţi-vă, înaintaţi împotriva Chedarului şi distrugeţi poporul din răsărit.

29 T heir tents and their flocks shall they take; their curtains and all their vessels, and their camels, shall they carry away for themselves; and they shall cry unto them, Terror on every side!

Luaţi-le corturile şi turmele, prădaţi-le ţesăturile, toate bunurile şi cămilele. Strigaţi-le: ‘Teroare din toate părţile!’

30 F lee, wander very far, dwell deep down, ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith Jehovah; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.

Fugiţi repede! Ascundeţi-vă în peşteri adânci, locuitori ai Haţorului, zice Domnul. Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, a luat o hotărâre împotriva voastră şi a făcut un plan împotriva voastră.

31 A rise, get you up against the nation at ease, that dwelleth securely, saith Jehovah, which hath neither gates nor bars: they dwell alone.

Ridicaţi-vă şi înaintaţi împotriva acelui neam liniştit, care locuieşte fără grijă, zice Domnul; el n-are nici porţi, nici zăvoare şi locuieşte în singurătate.

32 A nd their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil; and I will scatter to every wind them that have the corners cut off, and I will bring their calamity from all sides thereof, saith Jehovah.

Cămilele lor vor deveni pradă şi mulţimea turmelor lor va fi jefuită. Îi voi împrăştia în toate vânturile pe cei care îşi rad colţurile bărbii şi voi aduce dezastrul împotriva lor din toate părţile, zice Domnul.

33 A nd Hazor shall be a dwelling-place of jackals, a desolation for ever. No one shall dwell there, neither shall a son of man sojourn therein.

Haţorul va deveni o vizuină de şacali, un loc pustiu pe vecie. Nici un om nu va mai locui acolo şi nici un muritor nu se va mai stabili în el.»“ Profeţie împotriva Elamului

34 T he word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

Iată Cuvântul Domnului care a venit la profetul Ieremia cu privire la Elam, la începutul domniei lui Zedechia, regele lui Iuda:

35 T hus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.

„Aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor: «Iată, voi sfărâma arcul Elamului, sursa puterii lui.

36 A nd upon Elam will I bring the four winds, from the four ends of the heavens, and I will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

Voi aduce împotriva Elamului cele patru vânturi de la cele patru margini ale cerului. Îi voi împrăştia în toate vânturile acestea şi nu va fi nici un neam la care să nu ajungă deportaţii Elamului.

37 A nd I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life; and I will bring evil upon them, my fierce anger, saith Jehovah; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them.

Îi voi zdrobi pe elamiţi înaintea duşmanilor lor, înaintea celor ce vor să le ia viaţa. Voi aduce nenorocirea împotriva lor, mânia Mea cea aprigă, zice Domnul. Voi trimite după ei sabia până le voi aduce sfârşitul.

38 A nd I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence king and princes, saith Jehovah.

Îmi voi aşeza tronul în Elam şi voi nimici de acolo pe regele şi pe conducătorii lor, zice Domnul.

39 B ut it shall come to pass at the end of the days, I will turn the captivity of Elam, saith Jehovah.

Dar în zilele de pe urmă, îi voi aduce înapoi pe captivii Elamului, zice Domnul.»“
