1 B ut seeing the crowds, he went up into the mountain, and having sat down, his disciples came to him;

Când a văzut Isus mulţimile, a urcat pe munte şi S-a aşezat jos. Ucenicii Săi au venit la El,

2 a nd, having opened his mouth, he taught them, saying,

iar El a început să vorbească şi să-i înveţe astfel:

3 B lessed the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.

„Ferice de cei săraci în duh, căci a lor este Împărăţia Cerurilor!

4 B lessed they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Ferice de cei îndureraţi, căci ei vor fi mângâiaţi!

5 B lessed the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Ferice de cei blânzi, căci ei vor moşteni pământul!

6 B lessed they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Ferice de cei flămânzi şi însetaţi după dreptate, căci ei vor fi săturaţi!

7 B lessed the merciful, for they shall find mercy.

Ferice de cei milostivi, căci ei vor avea parte de milă!

8 B lessed the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Ferice de cei cu inima curată, căci ei Îl vor vedea pe Dumnezeu!

9 B lessed the peace-makers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Ferice de cei împăciuitori, căci ei vor fi numiţi fii ai lui Dumnezeu!

10 B lessed they who are persecuted on account of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.

Ferice de cei persecutaţi din pricina dreptăţii, căci a lor este Împărăţia Cerurilor!

11 B lessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake.

Ferice de voi când oamenii vă insultă, vă persecută şi spun tot felul de lucruri rele, (minţind) împotriva voastră, din pricina Mea!

12 R ejoice and exult, for your reward is great in the heavens; for thus have they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Bucuraţi-vă şi veseliţi-vă, pentru că răsplata voastră este mare în ceruri! Căci tot aşa i-au persecutat şi pe profeţii dinaintea voastră! Sarea pământului şi lumina lumii

13 Y e are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have become insipid, wherewith shall it be salted? It is no longer fit for anything but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot by men.

Voi sunteţi sarea pământului. Dar dacă sarea îşi pierde gustul, prin ce va fi făcută din nou sărată?! Nu mai este bună la nimic, decât să fie aruncată afară şi călcată în picioare de oameni.

14 Y e are the light of the world: a city situated on the top of a mountain cannot be hid.

Voi sunteţi lumina lumii. O cetate aşezată pe un munte nu poate să rămână ascunsă.

15 N or do light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but upon the lamp-stand, and it shines for all who are in the house.

Şi nimeni nu aprinde un felinar ca să-l pună sub un oboroc, ci îl pune pe un suport şi astfel el luminează tuturor celor din casă.

16 L et your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.

Tot aşa să lumineze şi lumina voastră înaintea oamenilor, ca ei să vadă faptele voastre bune şi să-L slăvească pe Tatăl vostru, Care este în ceruri. Isus şi împlinirea Legii

17 T hink not that I am come to make void the law or the prophets; I am not come to make void, but to fulfil.

Să nu credeţi că am venit să anulez Legea sau Profeţii! Nu am venit să anulez, ci să împlinesc.

18 F or verily I say unto you, Until the heaven and the earth pass away, one iota or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all come to pass.

Căci adevărat vă spun că, atâta vreme cât nu vor trece cerul şi pământul, nici măcar o iotă sau o parte a vreunei litere nu va fi înlăturată din Lege, înainte să se întâmple toate lucrurile.

19 W hosoever then shall do away with one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall practise and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.

Aşa că oricine încalcă una din cele mai mici din aceste porunci şi îi învaţă şi pe alţii să facă la fel va fi numit cel mai mic în Împărăţia Cerurilor. Dar oricine le împlineşte şi îi învaţă şi pe alţii să facă la fel va fi numit mare în Împărăţia Cerurilor.

20 F or I say unto you, that unless your righteousness surpass of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of the heavens.

Căci vă spun că, dacă dreptatea voastră nu o întrece pe cea a cărturarilor şi a fariseilor, cu nici un chip nu veţi intra în Împărăţia Cerurilor. Despre mânie şi ucidere

21 Y e have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not kill; but whosoever shall kill shall be subject to the judgment.

Aţi auzit că li s-a zis celor din vechime: «Să nu ucizi! Oricine ucide va cădea sub pedeapsa judecăţii».

22 B ut I say unto you, that every one that is lightly angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment; but whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be subject to the sanhedrim; but whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be subject to the penalty of the hell of fire.

Dar Eu vă spun că oricine se mânie pe fratele său va cădea sub pedeapsa judecăţii şi oricine îi va zice fratelui său: «Prostule! » va cădea sub pedeapsa Sinedriului; iar cel ce-i va zice: «Nebunule!» va cădea sub pedeapsa focului Gheenei.

23 I f therefore thou shouldest offer thy gift at the altar, and there shouldest remember that thy brother has something against thee,

Aşa că, dacă îţi aduci darul la altar şi acolo îţi aminteşti că fratele tău are ceva împotriva ta,

24 l eave there thy gift before the altar, and first go, be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

lasă-ţi darul acolo, înaintea altarului, şi du-te mai întâi să te împaci cu fratele tău. Apoi vino şi adu-ţi darul.

25 M ake friends with thine adverse party quickly, whilst thou art in the way with him; lest some time the adverse party deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Caută să te împaci cât mai repede cu acuzatorul tău, câtă vreme eşti cu el pe drum, ca nu cumva acuzatorul tău să te dea pe mâna judecătorului, judecătorul să te dea pe mâna temnicerului şi să fii aruncat în închisoare!

26 V erily I say to thee, Thou shalt in no wise come out thence till thou hast paid the last farthing.

Adevărat îţi spun că nu vei ieşi de acolo până când nu vei fi plătit şi ultimul codrantes! Despre adulter şi divorţ

27 Y e have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Aţi auzit că s-a zis: «Să nu comiţi adulter!».

28 B ut I say unto you, that every one who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Dar Eu vă spun că oricine se uită cu poftă la o femeie a şi comis adulter cu ea în inima lui.

29 B ut if thy right eye be a snare to thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.

Deci, dacă ochiul tău cel drept te face să păcătuieşti, scoate-l afară şi aruncă-l, căci este spre folosul tău să-ţi pierzi unul din mădulare, decât să-ţi fie aruncat în Gheenă tot trupul.

30 A nd if thy right hand be a snare to thee, cut it off and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.

Iar dacă mâna ta cea dreaptă te face să păcătuieşti, taie-o şi arunc-o, căci este spre folosul tău să-ţi pierzi unul din mădulare, decât să-ţi meargă în Gheenă tot trupul.

31 I t has been said too, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a letter of divorce.

S-a mai zis: «Oricine divorţează de soţia lui să-i dea o carte de despărţire».

32 B ut I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for cause of fornication, makes her commit adultery, and whosoever marries one that is put away commits adultery.

Dar Eu vă spun că oricine divorţează de soţia lui, în afară de cazul în care este vorba de imoralitate, o împinge să comită adulter, iar cel ce se căsătoreşte cu o femeie divorţată comite şi el adulter. Despre jurăminte

33 A gain, ye have heard that it has been said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt render to the Lord what thou hast sworn.

Din nou, aţi auzit că li s-a zis celor din vechime: «Să nu juri fals, ci să împlineşti faţă de Domnul jurămintele tale».

34 B ut I say unto you, Do not swear at all; neither by the heaven, because it is throne of God;

Dar Eu vă spun să nu juraţi deloc: nici pe cer, pentru că este tronul lui Dumnezeu;

35 n or by the earth, because it is footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is city of the great King.

nici pe pământ, pentru că este aşternutul picioarelor Lui; nici pe Ierusalim, pentru că este cetatea marelui Împărat;

36 N either shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

să nu juri nici măcar pe capul tău, pentru că nu poţi face nici măcar un fir de păr alb sau negru.

37 B ut let your word be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; but what is more than these is from evil.

Vorbirea voastră să fie astfel: «Da» să fie «Da» şi «Nu» să fie «Nu». Ce trece peste aceste cuvinte vine de la cel rău. Despre răzbunare

38 Y e have heard that it has been said, Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.

Aţi auzit că s-a zis: «Ochi pentru ochi şi dinte pentru dinte».

39 B ut I say unto you, not to resist evil; but whoever shall strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other;

Dar Eu vă spun să nu vă împotriviţi celui ce vă face rău. Ci aceluia care te loveşte peste obrazul drept, întoarce-i-l şi pe celălalt.

40 a nd to him that would go to law with thee and take thy body coat, leave him thy cloak also.

Celui ce vrea să te dea în judecată şi să-ţi ia tunica, lasă-i şi haina,

41 A nd whoever will compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.

iar dacă cineva te obligă să mergi cu el o milă, mergi cu el două mile.

42 T o him that asks of thee give, and from him that desires to borrow of thee turn not away.

Celui ce-ţi cere, dă-i, iar pe cel ce vrea să se împrumute de la tine să nu-l refuzi. Iubirea duşmanilor

43 Y e have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.

Aţi auzit că s-a zis: «Să-l iubeşti pe semenul tău şi să-l urăşti pe duşmanul tău».

44 B ut I say unto you, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute you,

Dar Eu vă spun: iubiţi-vă duşmanii şi rugaţi-vă pentru cei ce vă persecută,

45 t hat ye may be sons of your Father who is in heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.

ca să fiţi astfel fii ai Tatălui vostru, Care este în ceruri! Căci El face să răsară soarele Lui şi peste cei răi, şi peste cei buni şi trimite ploaie şi peste cei drepţi, şi peste cei nedrepţi.

46 F or if ye should love those who love you, what reward have ye? Do not also the tax-gatherers the same?

Dacă-i iubiţi doar pe cei ce vă iubesc, ce răsplată veţi avea? Oare colectorii de taxe nu fac la fel?

47 A nd if ye should salute your brethren only, what do ye extraordinary? Do not also the Gentiles the same?

Şi dacă vă întâmpinaţi cu dragoste doar fraţii, ce lucru neobişnuit faceţi? Oare neamurile nu fac la fel?

48 B e ye therefore perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Fiţi deci desăvârşiţi, aşa cum şi Tatăl vostru cel ceresc este desăvârşit!
