1 A nd Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said:

Jesús comenzó a hablarles otra vez en parábolas, diciendo:

2 “ The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son,

“ El reino de los cielos puede compararse a un rey que hizo un banquete de bodas para su hijo.

3 a nd sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come.

Y envió a sus siervos a llamar a los que habían sido invitados a las bodas, pero no quisieron venir.

4 A gain, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”’

De nuevo envió otros siervos, diciéndo les: ‘Digan a los que han sido invitados: “Ya he preparado mi banquete; he matado mis novillos y animales cebados, y todo está preparado; vengan a las bodas.”’

5 B ut they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business.

Pero ellos no hicieron caso y se fueron: uno a su campo, otro a sus negocios,

6 A nd the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them.

y los demás, echando mano a los siervos, los maltrataron y los mataron.

7 B ut when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

Entonces el rey se enfureció, y enviando sus ejércitos, destruyó a aquellos asesinos e incendió su ciudad.

8 T hen he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.

Luego dijo a sus siervos: ‘La boda está preparada, pero los que fueron invitados no eran dignos.

9 T herefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’

Vayan, por tanto, a las salidas de los caminos, e inviten a las bodas a cuantos encuentren.’

10 S o those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.

Aquellos siervos salieron por los caminos, y reunieron a todos los que encontraron, tanto malos como buenos; y el salón de bodas se llenó de invitados.

11 “ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.

“Pero cuando el rey entró a ver a los invitados, vio allí a uno que no estaba vestido con traje de boda,

12 S o he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.

y le dijo: ‘Amigo, ¿cómo entraste aquí sin traje de boda?’ Pero el hombre se quedó callado.

13 T hen the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

El rey entonces dijo a los sirvientes: ‘Atenle las manos y los pies, y échenlo a las tinieblas de afuera; allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes.’

14 “ For many are called, but few are chosen.” The Pharisees: Is It Lawful to Pay Taxes to Caesar?

15 T hen the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk.

Entonces los Fariseos se fueron y deliberaron entre sí cómo atrapar a Jesús en alguna palabra que El dijera.

16 A nd they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men.

Y los Fariseos enviaron algunos de sus discípulos junto con los partidarios de Herodes (Antipas), diciendo: “Maestro, sabemos que eres veraz y que enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad, y no buscas el favor de nadie, porque eres imparcial.

17 T ell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

Dinos, pues, cuál es Tu opinión: ¿Está permitido pagar impuesto al César, o no?”

18 B ut Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?

Pero Jesús, conociendo su malicia, dijo: “¿Por qué me ponen a prueba, hipócritas?

19 S how Me the tax money.” So they brought Him a denarius.

Traigan la moneda que se usa para pagar ese impuesto.” Y Le trajeron un denario (salario de un día).

20 A nd He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”

Y El les preguntó: “¿De quién es esta imagen y esta inscripción?”

21 T hey said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Ellos le dijeron: “Del César.” Entonces El les dijo: “Pues den al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.”

22 W hen they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way. The Sadducees: What About the Resurrection?

23 T he same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,

Ese día se acercaron a Jesús algunos Saduceos, los que dicen que no hay resurrección,

24 s aying: “Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.

y Le dijeron: “Maestro, Moisés dijo: ‘ Si alguien muere sin tener hijos, su hermano, como pariente mas cercano, se casara con su mujer y levantara descendencia a su hermano.’

25 N ow there were with us seven brothers. The first died after he had married, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother.

Ahora bien, había entre nosotros siete hermanos; el primero se casó, y murió; pero no teniendo descendencia, le dejó la mujer a su hermano.

26 L ikewise the second also, and the third, even to the seventh.

De igual manera también el segundo, y el tercero, hasta el séptimo.

27 L ast of all the woman died also.

Y después de todos, murió la mujer.

28 T herefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her.”

Por tanto, en la resurrección, ¿de cuál de los siete será mujer? Porque todos ellos la tuvieron.”

29 J esus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Pero Jesús les respondió: “Están equivocados por no comprender las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios.

30 F or in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.

Porque en la resurrección, ni se casan ni son dados en matrimonio, sino que son como los ángeles de Dios en el cielo.

31 B ut concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying,

Y en cuanto a la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no han leído lo que les fue dicho por Dios, cuando dijo:

32 ‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

33 A nd when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching. The Scribes: Which Is the First Commandment of All?

34 B ut when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.

Los Fariseos se agruparon al oír que Jesús había dejado callados a los Saduceos.

35 T hen one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,

Uno de ellos, intérprete de la Ley (experto en la Ley de Moisés), para poner a prueba a Jesús, Le preguntó:

36 “ Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

“Maestro, ¿cuál es el gran mandamiento de la Ley?”

37 J esus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

38 T his is the first and great commandment.

Este es el grande y primer mandamiento.

39 A nd the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

Y el segundo es semejante a éste: Amaras a tu projimo como a ti mismo.

40 O n these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Jesus: How Can David Call His Descendant Lord?

De estos dos mandamientos dependen toda la Ley y los Profetas.” Jesús, Hijo y Señor de David

41 W hile the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

Estando reunidos los Fariseos, Jesús les hizo una pregunta:

42 s aying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “ The Son of David.”

“¿Cuál es la opinión de ustedes sobre el Cristo (el Mesías)? ¿De quién es hijo?” “De David,” le contestaron ellos.

43 H e said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying:

Jesús les dijo: “Entonces, ¿cómo es que David en el Espíritu Lo llama ‘Señor,’ diciendo:

44 ‘ The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”’?

‘ Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: “ sientate a Mi diestra, hasta que ponga a Tus enemigos debajo de Tus pies ”’?

45 I f David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his Son?”

Pues si David Lo llama ‘Señor,’ ¿cómo es El su hijo?”

46 A nd no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.

Y nadie Le pudo contestar ni una palabra, ni ninguno desde ese día se atrevió a hacer más preguntas a Jesús.
