2 W e give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers,

Siempre damos gracias a Dios por todos ustedes, mencionándolos en nuestras oraciones,

3 r emembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,

teniendo presente sin cesar delante de nuestro Dios y Padre su obra de fe, su trabajo de amor y la firmeza (perseverancia) de su esperanza en nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

4 k nowing, beloved brethren, your election by God.

Sabemos, hermanos amados de Dios, de la elección de ustedes,

5 F or our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

porque nuestro evangelio no vino a ustedes solamente en palabras, sino también en poder y en el Espíritu Santo y con plena convicción; como saben qué clase de personas demostramos ser entre ustedes por el amor que les tenemos.

6 A nd you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

Y ustedes llegaron a ser imitadores de nosotros y del Señor, habiendo recibido la palabra, en medio de mucha tribulación, con el gozo del Espíritu Santo,

7 s o that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe.

de tal manera que llegaron a ser un ejemplo para todos los creyentes en Macedonia y en Acaya.

8 F or from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.

Porque saliendo de ustedes, la palabra del Señor se ha escuchado, no sólo en Macedonia y Acaya, sino que también por todas partes la fe de ustedes en Dios se ha divulgado, de modo que nosotros no tenemos necesidad de decir nada.

9 F or they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,

Pues ellos mismos cuentan acerca de nosotros, de la acogida que tuvimos por parte de ustedes, y de cómo se convirtieron de los ídolos a Dios para servir al Dios vivo y verdadero,

10 a nd to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

y esperar de los cielos a Su Hijo, al cual resucitó de entre los muertos, es decir, a Jesús, quien nos libra de la ira venidera.
