1 A t that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

En aquel momento se acercaron los discípulos a Jesús, diciendo: “¿Quién es el mayor en el reino de los cielos?”

2 T hen Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,

El, llamando a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos,

3 a nd said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

y dijo: “En verdad les digo que si no se convierten y se hacen como niños, no entrarán en el reino de los cielos.

4 T herefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Así pues, cualquiera que se humille como este niño, ése es el mayor en el reino de los cielos.

5 W hoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. Jesus Warns of Offenses

Y el que reciba a un niño como éste en Mi nombre, Me recibe a Mí.

6 “ Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

“Pero al que haga pecar a uno de estos pequeñitos que creen en Mí, mejor le sería que le colgaran al cuello una piedra de molino de las que mueve un asno, y que se ahogara en lo profundo del mar. ¡Ay de los que Son Piedras de Tropiezo!

7 W oe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

“¡Ay del mundo por sus piedras de tropiezo! Porque es inevitable que vengan piedras de tropiezo; pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien viene el tropiezo!

8 “ If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.

“Si tu mano o tu pie te hace pecar, córtalo y tíralo. Es mejor que entres en la vida manco o cojo, que teniendo dos manos y dos pies, ser echado en el fuego eterno.

9 A nd if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire. The Parable of the Lost Sheep

Y si tu ojo te hace pecar, arráncalo y tíralo. Es mejor que entres en la vida con un solo ojo, que teniendo dos ojos, ser echado en el infierno de fuego.

10 “ Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

“Miren que no desprecien a uno de estos pequeñitos, porque les digo que sus ángeles en los cielos contemplan siempre el rostro de Mi Padre que está en los cielos.

11 F or the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.

Porque el Hijo del Hombre ha venido a salvar lo que se había perdido. Parábola de la Oveja Perdida

12 “ What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?

“¿Qué les parece? Si un hombre tiene cien ovejas y una de ellas se ha descarriado, ¿no deja las noventa y nueve en los montes, y va en busca de la descarriada?

13 A nd if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.

Y si sucede que la halla, en verdad les digo que se regocija más por ésta que por las noventa y nueve que no se han descarriado.

14 E ven so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. Dealing with a Sinning Brother

Así, no es la voluntad del Padre que está en los cielos que se pierda uno de estos pequeñitos. Sobre la Exhortación y la Oración

15 “ Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

“Si tu hermano peca, ve y repréndelo a solas; si te escucha, has ganado a tu hermano.

16 B ut if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’

Pero si no te escucha, lleva contigo a uno o a dos más, para que toda palabra sea confirmada por boca de dos o tres testigos.

17 A nd if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

Y si rehúsa escucharlos, dilo a la iglesia; y si también rehúsa escuchar a la iglesia, sea para ti como el Gentil (el pagano) y el recaudador de impuestos.

18 “ Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

En verdad les digo, que todo lo que ustedes aten en la tierra, será atado en el cielo; y todo lo que desaten en la tierra, será desatado en el cielo.

19 “ Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.

“Además les digo, que si dos de ustedes se ponen de acuerdo sobre cualquier cosa que pidan aquí en la tierra, les será hecho por Mi Padre que está en los cielos.

20 F or where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant

Porque donde están dos o tres reunidos en Mi nombre, allí estoy Yo en medio de ellos.” Importancia del Perdón

21 T hen Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”

Entonces acercándose Pedro, preguntó a Jesús: “Señor, ¿cuántas veces pecará mi hermano contra mí que yo haya de perdonarlo? ¿Hasta siete veces ?”

22 J esus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Jesús le contestó: “No te digo hasta siete veces, sino hasta setenta veces siete. Parábola de los Dos Deudores

23 T herefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.

“Por eso, el reino de los cielos puede compararse a cierto rey que quiso ajustar cuentas con sus siervos.

24 A nd when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.

Al comenzar a ajustar las, le fue presentado uno que le debía 10, 000 talentos (216 toneladas de plata).

25 B ut as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made.

Pero no teniendo él con qué pagar, su señor ordenó que lo vendieran, junto con su mujer e hijos y todo cuanto poseía, y así pagara la deuda.

26 T he servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’

Entonces el siervo cayó postrado ante él, diciendo: ‘Tenga paciencia conmigo y todo se lo pagaré.’

27 T hen the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.

Y el señor de aquel siervo tuvo compasión, lo soltó y le perdonó la deuda.

28 “ But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’

Pero al salir aquel siervo, encontró a uno de sus consiervos que le debía 100 denarios (salario de 100 días), y echándole mano, lo ahogaba, diciendo: ‘Paga lo que debes.’

29 S o his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’

Entonces su consiervo, cayendo a sus pies, le suplicaba: ‘Ten paciencia conmigo y te pagaré.’

30 A nd he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt.

Sin embargo, él no quiso, sino que fue y lo echó en la cárcel hasta que pagara lo que debía.

31 S o when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done.

Así que cuando sus consiervos vieron lo que había pasado, se entristecieron mucho, y fueron y contaron a su señor todo lo que había sucedido.

32 T hen his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.

Entonces, llamando al siervo, su señor le dijo: ‘Siervo malvado, te perdoné toda aquella deuda porque me suplicaste.

33 S hould you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’

‘¿No deberías tú también haberte compadecido de tu consiervo, así como yo me compadecí de ti ?’

34 A nd his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.

Y enfurecido su señor, lo entregó a los verdugos hasta que pagara todo lo que le debía.

35 “ So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

Así también Mi Padre celestial hará con ustedes, si no perdonan de corazón cada uno a su hermano.”
