1 ¿ No clama la sabiduría, y levanta su voz la prudencia?

Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

2 E n la cima de las alturas, junto al camino, donde cruzan las sendas, se coloca;

She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

3 j unto a las puertas, a la salida de la ciudad, en el umbral de las puertas, da voces:

She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

4 O h hombres, a vosotros clamo, para los hijos de los hombres es mi voz.

Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

5 O h simples, aprended prudencia; y vosotros, necios, aprended sabiduría.

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

6 E scuchad, porque hablaré cosas excelentes, y con el abrir de mis labios rectitud.

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

7 P orque mi boca proferirá la verdad, abominación a mis labios es la impiedad.

For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 C onforme a la justicia son todas las palabras de mi boca, no hay en ellas nada torcido ni perverso.

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

9 T odas son sinceras para el que entiende, y rectas para los que han hallado conocimiento.

They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

10 R ecibid mi instrucción y no la plata, y conocimiento antes que el oro escogido;

Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 p orque mejor es la sabiduría que las joyas, y todas las cosas deseables no pueden compararse con ella. La sabiduría se elogia a sí misma

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 Y o, la sabiduría, habito con la prudencia, y he hallado conocimiento y discreción.

I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

13 E l temor del Señor es aborrecer el mal. El orgullo, la arrogancia, el mal camino y la boca perversa, yo aborrezco.

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

14 M ío es el consejo y la prudencia, yo soy la inteligencia, el poder es mío.

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

15 P or mí reinan los reyes, y los gobernantes decretan justicia.

By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

16 P or mí gobiernan los príncipes y los nobles, todos los que juzgan con justicia.

By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

17 A mo a los que me aman, y los que me buscan con diligencia me hallarán.

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

18 C onmigo están las riquezas y el honor, la fortuna duradera y la justicia.

Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 M i fruto es mejor que el oro, que el oro puro, y mi ganancia es mejor que la plata escogida.

My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

20 Y o ando por el camino de la justicia, por en medio de las sendas del derecho,

I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

21 p ara otorgar heredad a los que me aman y así llenar sus tesoros.

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

22 E l Señor me poseyó al principio de su camino, antes de sus obras de tiempos pasados.

The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

23 D esde la eternidad fui establecida, desde el principio, desde los orígenes de la tierra.

I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

24 C uando no había abismos fui engendrada, cuando no había manantiales abundantes en aguas.

When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

25 A ntes que los montes fueran asentados, antes que las colinas, fui engendrada,

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

26 c uando El no había hecho aún la tierra y los campos, ni el polvo primero del mundo.

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

27 C uando estableció los cielos, allí estaba yo; cuando trazó un círculo sobre la faz del abismo,

When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

28 c uando arriba afirmó los cielos, cuando las fuentes del abismo se afianzaron,

When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

29 c uando al mar puso sus límites para que las aguas no transgredieran su mandato, cuando señaló los cimientos de la tierra,

When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

30 y o estaba entonces junto a El, como arquitecto; y era su delicia de día en día, regocijándome en todo tiempo en su presencia,

Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

31 r egocijándome en el mundo, en su tierra, y teniendo mis delicias con los hijos de los hombres.

Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

32 A hora pues, hijos, escuchadme, porque bienaventurados son los que guardan mis caminos.

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

33 E scuchad la instrucción y sed sabios, y no la menospreciéis.

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

34 B ienaventurado el hombre que me escucha, velando a mis puertas día a día, aguardando en los postes de mi entrada.

Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

35 P orque el que me halla, halla la vida, y alcanza el favor del Señor.

For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.

36 P ero el que peca contra mí, a sí mismo se daña; todos los que me odian, aman la muerte.

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
