1 ¿ Acaso no clama la Sabiduría y alza su voz la inteligencia?

Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

2 A postada en las alturas junto al camino, en las encrucijadas de las veredas,

She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

3 j unto a las puertas, a la entrada de la ciudad, a la entrada de las puertas da voces:

She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

4 ¡ A vosotros, hombres, llamo; mi voz dirijo a los hijos de los hombres!

Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

5 « Ingenuos, aprended discreción; y vosotros, necios, entrad en cordura.

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

6 E scuchad, porque voy a decir cosas excelentes, voy a abrir mis labios para cosas rectas.

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

7 P orque mi boca dice la verdad, y mis labios abominan la impiedad.

For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 J ustas son todas las razones de mi boca: nada hay en ellas perverso ni torcido;

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

9 t odas son claras para el que entiende y rectas para los que han hallado sabiduría.

They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

10 R ecibid mi enseñanza antes que la plata, y ciencia antes que el oro puro;

Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 p orque mejor es la sabiduría que las perlas, y no hay cosa deseable que se le pueda comparar.» Discurso de la Sabiduría

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 « Yo, la Sabiduría, habito con la cordura y tengo la ciencia de los consejos.

I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

13 E l temor de Jehová es aborrecer el mal: yo aborrezco la soberbia, la arrogancia, el mal camino y la boca perversa.

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

14 C onmigo están el consejo y el buen juicio. Yo soy la inteligencia, y mío es el poder.

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

15 P or mí reinan los reyes, y los príncipes ejercen la justicia.

By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

16 P or mí dominan los príncipes, y los gobernadores juzgan la tierra.

By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

17 Y o amo a los que me aman, y me hallan los que temprano me buscan.

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

18 L as riquezas y el honor me acompañan; los bienes permanentes y la justicia.

Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 M ejor es mi fruto que el oro, que el oro refinado; y mis beneficios mejores que la plata pura.

My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

20 P or vereda de justicia guiaré, por en medio de sendas de juicio,

I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

21 p ara hacer que los que me aman tengan su heredad y que yo llene sus tesoros.

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

22 » Jehová me poseía en el principio, ya de antiguo, antes de sus obras.

The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

23 E ternamente tuve la primacía, desde el principio, antes de la tierra.

I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

24 F ui engendrada antes que los abismos, antes que existieran las fuentes de las muchas aguas.

When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

25 A ntes que los montes fueran formados, antes que los collados, ya había sido yo engendrada,

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

26 c uando él aún no había hecho la tierra, ni los campos, ni el principio del polvo del mundo.

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

27 C uando formaba los cielos, allí estaba yo; cuando trazaba el círculo sobre la faz del abismo,

When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

28 c uando afirmaba los cielos arriba, cuando afirmaba las fuentes del abismo,

When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

29 c uando fijaba los límites al mar para que las aguas no transgredieran su mandato, cuando establecía los fundamentos de la tierra,

When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

30 c on él estaba yo ordenándolo todo. Yo era su delicia cada día y me recreaba delante de él en todo tiempo.

Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

31 M e regocijaba con la parte habitada de su tierra, pues mis delicias están con los hijos de los hombres.

Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

32 » Ahora pues, hijos, escuchadme: ¡Bienaventurados los que guardan mis caminos!

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

33 A tended el consejo, sed sabios y no lo menospreciéis.

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

34 B ienaventurado el hombre que me escucha, velando a mis puertas cada día, guardando los postes de mis puertas,

Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

35 p orque el que me halle, hallará la vida y alcanzará el favor de Jehová;

For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.

36 p ero el que peca contra mí, se defrauda a sí mismo, pues todos los que me aborrecen aman la muerte».

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
