1 E ntonces comenzó Jesús a decirles por parábolas: «Un hombre plantó una viña, la rodeó con una cerca, cavó un lagar y edificó una torre; luego la arrendó a unos labradores y se fue lejos.

And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

2 A su tiempo envió un siervo a los labradores para recibir de estos del fruto de la viña.

And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

3 P ero ellos, tomándolo, lo golpearon y lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

4 V olvió a enviarles otro siervo; pero, apedreándolo, lo hirieron en la cabeza, y también lo insultaron.

And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

5 V olvió a enviar otro, y a éste lo mataron. Después envió otros muchos: a unos los golpearon y a otros los mataron.

And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

6 » Por último, teniendo aún un hijo suyo, amado, lo envió también a ellos, diciendo: “Tendrán respeto a mi hijo.”

Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

7 P ero aquellos labradores dijeron entre sí: “Éste es el heredero; venid, matémoslo, y la heredad será nuestra.”

But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.'

8 Y tomándolo, lo mataron y lo arrojaron fuera de la viña.

And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

9 » ¿Qué, pues, hará el señor de la viña? Irá, destruirá a los labradores y dará su viña a otros.

What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

10 » ¿Ni aun esta escritura habéis leído: “La piedra que desecharon los edificadores ha venido a ser cabeza del ángulo.

And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

11 E l Señor ha hecho esto, y es cosa maravillosa a nuestros ojos”?»

This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

12 P rocuraban prenderlo, porque entendían que decía contra ellos aquella parábola; pero temían a la multitud y, dejándolo, se fueron. La cuestión del tributo

And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

13 L e enviaron algunos de los fariseos y de los herodianos para que lo sorprendieran en alguna palabra.

And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.

14 V iniendo ellos, le dijeron: —Maestro, sabemos que eres hombre veraz y que no te cuidas de nadie, porque no miras la apariencia de los hombres, sino que con verdad enseñas el camino de Dios. ¿Es lícito dar tributo a César, o no? ¿Daremos, o no daremos?

And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

15 P ero él, percibiendo la hipocresía de ellos, les dijo: —¿Por qué me tentáis? Traedme un denario para que lo vea.

Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.

16 E llos se lo trajeron; y él entonces preguntó: —¿De quién es esta imagen y la inscripción? Ellos le dijeron: —De César.

And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.

17 R espondiendo Jesús, les dijo: —Dad a César lo que es de César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios. Y se maravillaron de él. La pregunta sobre la resurrección

And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

18 E ntonces vinieron a él los saduceos, los que dicen que no hay resurrección, y le preguntaron, diciendo:

Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

19 — Maestro, Moisés nos escribió que si el hermano de alguno muere y deja esposa, pero no deja hijos, su hermano debe casarse con ella y levantar descendencia a su hermano.

Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

20 H ubo siete hermanos: el primero tomó esposa, y murió sin dejar descendencia.

Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.

21 E ntonces el segundo se casó con ella, pero él también murió sin dejar descendencia. Lo mismo pasó con el tercero,

And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.

22 y con los siete: ninguno dejó descendencia. Finalmente, murió también la mujer.

And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.

23 E n la resurrección, pues, cuando resuciten, ¿de cuál de ellos será ella mujer, ya que los siete la tuvieron por mujer?

In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

24 E ntonces, respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: —Erráis también en esto, porque ignoráis las Escrituras y el poder de Dios,

And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

25 p orque cuando resuciten de los muertos, ni se casarán ni se darán en casamiento, sino que serán como los ángeles que están en los cielos.

For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

26 P ero respecto a que los muertos resucitan, ¿no habéis leído en el libro de Moisés cómo le habló Dios en la zarza, diciendo: “Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob”?

And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

27 ¡ Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino Dios de vivos! Así que vosotros mucho erráis. El gran mandamiento

He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

28 A cercándose uno de los escribas, que los había oído discutir y sabía que les había respondido bien, le preguntó: —¿Cuál es el primer mandamiento de todos?

And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

29 J esús le respondió: —El primero de todos los mandamiento es: “Oye, Israel: el Señor nuestro Dios, el Señor uno es.

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 Y amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con toda tu mente y con todas tus fuerzas.” Éste es el principal mandamiento.

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 E l segundo es semejante: “Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.” No hay otro mandamiento mayor que estos.

And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

32 E ntonces el escriba le dijo: —Bien, Maestro, verdad has dicho, que uno es Dios y no hay otro fuera de él;

And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

33 y amarlo con todo el corazón, con todo el entendimiento, con toda el alma y con todas las fuerzas, y amar al prójimo como a uno mismo, es más que todos los holocaustos y sacrificios.

And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

34 J esús entonces, viendo que había respondido sabiamente, le dijo: —No estás lejos del reino de Dios. Y ya nadie se atrevía a preguntarle. ¿De quién es hijo el Cristo?

And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

35 E nseñando Jesús en el Templo, decía: «¿Cómo dicen los escribas que el Cristo es hijo de David?,

And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?

36 p ues el mismo David dijo por el Espíritu Santo: »“Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: ‘Siéntate a mi diestra, hasta que ponga a tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.’”

For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

37 » David mismo lo llama Señor; ¿cómo, pues, es su hijo?» Y gran multitud del pueblo lo oía de buena gana. Jesús acusa a los escribas

David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

38 L es decía en su enseñanza: «Guardaos de los escribas, que gustan de andar con largas ropas, y aman las salutaciones en las plazas,

And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

39 l as primeras sillas en las sinagogas y los primeros asientos en las cenas,

And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

40 q ue devoran las casas de las viudas y, para disimularlo, hacen largas oraciones. Estos recibirán mayor condenación.» La ofrenda de la viuda

Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

41 E stando Jesús sentado delante del arca de la ofrenda, miraba cómo el pueblo echaba dinero en el arca; y muchos ricos echaban mucho.

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42 Y vino una viuda pobre y echó dos blancas, o sea, un cuadrante.

And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 E ntonces, llamando a sus discípulos, les dijo: —De cierto os digo que esta viuda pobre echó más que todos los que han echado en el arca,

And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44 p orque todos han echado de lo que les sobra, pero ésta, de su pobreza echó todo lo que tenía, todo su sustento.

For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
