1 A conteció que estando Jesús junto al Lago de Genesaret, el gentío se agolpaba sobre él para oír la palabra de Dios.

And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 V io dos barcas que estaban cerca de la orilla del lago; los pescadores habían descendido de ellas y lavaban sus redes.

And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 E ntró en una de aquellas barcas, la cual era de Simón y le rogó que la apartara de tierra un poco. Luego, sentándose, enseñaba desde la barca a la multitud.

And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4 C uando terminó de hablar, dijo a Simón: —Boga mar adentro, y echad vuestras redes para pescar.

Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 R espondiendo Simón, le dijo: —Maestro, toda la noche hemos estado trabajando y nada hemos pescado; pero en tu palabra echaré la red.

And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6 C uando lo hicieron, recogieron tal cantidad de peces que su red se rompía.

And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

7 E ntonces hicieron señas a los compañeros que estaban en la otra barca para que acudieran a ayudarlos. Ellos vinieron y llenaron ambas barcas, de tal manera que se hundían.

And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

8 V iendo esto Simón Pedro, cayó de rodillas ante Jesús, diciendo: —Apártate de mí, Señor, porque soy hombre pecador.

When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

9 P or la pesca que habían hecho, el temor se había apoderado de él y de todos los que estaban con él,

For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:

10 y asimismo de Jacobo y Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que eran compañeros de Simón. Pero Jesús dijo a Simón: —No temas; desde ahora serás pescador de hombres.

And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

11 T rajeron a tierra las barcas y, dejándolo todo, lo siguieron. Jesús sana a un leproso

And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

12 S ucedió que estando él en una de las ciudades, se presentó un hombre lleno de lepra, el cual, viendo a Jesús, se postró con el rostro en tierra y le rogó, diciendo: —Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme.

And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

13 J esús entonces, extendiendo la mano, lo tocó, diciendo: —Quiero, sé limpio. Y al instante la lepra se fue de él.

And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

14 J esús le mandó que no lo dijera a nadie. Le dijo: —Ve, muéstrate al sacerdote y ofrece por tu purificación lo que mandó Moisés, para testimonio a ellos.

And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

15 P ero su fama se extendía más y más; y se reunía mucha gente para oírlo y para que los sanara de sus enfermedades.

But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

16 P ero él se apartaba a lugares desiertos para orar. Jesús sana a un paralítico

And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

17 A conteció un día que él estaba enseñando, y estaban sentados los fariseos y doctores de la Ley, los cuales habían venido de todas las aldeas de Galilea, de Judea y Jerusalén; y el poder del Señor estaba con él para sanar.

And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

18 S ucedió que unos hombres que traían en una camilla a un hombre que estaba paralítico, procuraban entrar y ponerlo delante de él.

And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.

19 P ero no hallando cómo hacerlo a causa de la multitud, subieron encima de la casa y por el tejado lo bajaron con la camilla y lo pusieron en medio, delante de Jesús.

And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

20 A l ver él la fe de ellos, le dijo: —Hombre, tus pecados te son perdonados.

And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

21 E ntonces los escribas y los fariseos comenzaron a pensar, diciendo: «¿Quién es éste que habla blasfemias? ¿Quién puede perdonar pecados sino sólo Dios?»

And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

22 J esús entonces, conociendo los pensamientos de ellos, les preguntó: —¿Qué pensáis en vuestros corazones?

But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

23 ¿ Qué es más fácil, decir: “Tus pecados te son perdonados”, o decir: “Levántate y anda”?

Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?

24 P ues para que sepáis que el Hijo del hombre tiene potestad en la tierra para perdonar pecados —dijo al paralítico—: A ti te digo: Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa.

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

25 A l instante se levantó en presencia de ellos, tomó la camilla en que estaba acostado y se fue a su casa glorificando a Dios.

And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

26 Y todos, sobrecogidos de asombro, glorificaban a Dios. Llenos de temor, decían: —Hoy hemos visto maravillas. Llamamiento de Leví

And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.

27 D espués de estas cosas salió y vio a un publicano llamado Leví, sentado al banco de los tributos públicos, y le dijo: —Sígueme.

And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.

28 É l, dejándolo todo, se levantó y lo siguió.

And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

29 L eví le hizo un gran banquete en su casa; y había mucha compañía de publicanos y de otros que estaban a la mesa con ellos.

And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.

30 L os escribas y los fariseos murmuraban contra los discípulos, diciendo: —¿Por qué coméis y bebéis con publicanos y pecadores?

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

31 R espondiendo Jesús, les dijo: —Los que están sanos no tienen necesidad de médico, sino los enfermos.

And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

32 N o he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores al arrepentimiento. La pregunta sobre el ayuno

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

33 E ntonces ellos le preguntaron: —¿Por qué los discípulos de Juan ayunan muchas veces y hacen oraciones, y asimismo los de los fariseos, pero los tuyos comen y beben?

And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?

34 É l les dijo: —¿Podéis acaso hacer que los que están de bodas ayunen entre tanto que el esposo está con ellos?

And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

35 P ero vendrán días cuando el esposo les será quitado; entonces, en aquellos días, ayunarán.

But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

36 L es dijo también una parábola: —Nadie corta un pedazo de un vestido nuevo y lo pone en un vestido viejo, pues si lo hace, no solamente rompe el nuevo, sino que el remiendo sacado de él no armoniza con el viejo.

And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.

37 Y nadie echa vino nuevo en odres viejos; de otra manera, el vino nuevo romperá los odres y se derramará, y los odres se perderán.

And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.

38 P ero el vino nuevo en odres nuevos se ha de echar, y lo uno y lo otro se conservan.

But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

39 Y nadie que haya bebido del añejo querrá luego el nuevo, porque dice: “El añejo es mejor.”

No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
