1 H abló Jehová a Moisés y le dijo:

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 « Di a los hijos de Israel que regresen y acampen delante de Pi-hahirot, entre Migdol y el mar, enfrente de Baal-zefón. Acamparéis frente a ese lugar, junto al mar.

Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.

3 Y el faraón dirá de los hijos de Israel: “Encerrados están en la tierra; el desierto los ha encerrado.”

For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.

4 Y o endureceré el corazón del faraón, para que los siga; entonces seré glorificado en el faraón y en todo su ejército, y sabrán los egipcios que yo soy Jehová.» Ellos lo hicieron así.

And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord. And they did so.

5 C uando fue dado aviso al rey de Egipto, que el pueblo huía, el corazón del faraón y de sus siervos se volvió contra el pueblo, y dijeron: «¿Cómo hemos hecho esto? Hemos dejado ir a Israel, para que no nos sirva.»

And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?

6 U nció entonces su carro y tomó consigo a su ejército.

And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:

7 T omó seiscientos carros escogidos y todos los carros de Egipto, junto con sus capitanes.

And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.

8 E ndureció Jehová el corazón del faraón, rey de Egipto, el cual siguió a los hijos de Israel; pero los hijos de Israel habían salido con mano poderosa.

And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.

9 L os egipcios los siguieron con toda la caballería y los carros del faraón, su gente de a caballo y todo su ejército; los alcanzaron donde estaban acampados junto al mar, cerca de Pi-hahirot, frente a Baal-zefón.

But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.

10 C uando el faraón se hubo acercado, los hijos de Israel alzaron sus ojos y vieron que los egipcios venían tras ellos, por lo que los hijos de Israel clamaron a Jehová llenos de temor,

And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.

11 y dijeron a Moisés: —¿No había sepulcros en Egipto, que nos has sacado para que muramos en el desierto? ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? ¿Por qué nos has sacado de Egipto?

And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

12 Y a te lo decíamos cuando estábamos en Egipto: Déjanos servir a los egipcios, porque mejor nos es servir a los egipcios que morir en el desierto.

Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

13 M oisés respondió al pueblo: —No temáis; estad firmes y ved la salvación que Jehová os dará hoy, porque los egipcios que hoy habéis visto, no los volveréis a ver nunca más.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14 J ehová peleará por vosotros, y vosotros estaréis tranquilos.

The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

15 E ntonces Jehová dijo a Moisés: —¿Por qué clamas a mí? Di a los hijos de Israel que marchen.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

16 Y tú, alza tu vara, extiende tu mano sobre el mar y divídelo, para que los hijos de Israel pasen por medio del mar en seco.

But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

17 Y o endureceré el corazón de los egipcios, para que los sigan; entonces me glorificaré en el faraón y en todo su ejército, en sus carros y en su caballería.

And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

18 Y sabrán los egipcios que yo soy Jehová, cuando me glorifique en el faraón, en sus carros y en su gente de a caballo.

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

19 E l ángel de Dios, que iba delante del campamento de Israel, se apartó y se puso detrás de ellos; asimismo la columna de nube que iba delante de ellos se apartó y se puso a sus espaldas,

And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:

20 e iba entre el campamento de los egipcios y el campamento de Israel; para aquellos era una nube tenebrosa, pero a Israel lo alumbraba de noche; por eso, en toda aquella noche nunca se acercaron los unos a los otros.

And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

21 M oisés extendió su mano sobre el mar, e hizo Jehová que el mar se retirara por medio de un recio viento oriental que sopló toda aquella noche. Así se secó el mar y las aguas quedaron divididas.

And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

22 E ntonces los hijos de Israel entraron en medio del mar, en seco, y las aguas eran como un muro a su derecha y a su izquierda.

And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

23 L os egipcios los siguieron, y toda la caballería del faraón, sus carros y su gente de a caballo entraron tras ellos hasta la mitad del mar.

And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

24 A conteció a la vigilia de la mañana, que Jehová miró el campamento de los egipcios desde la columna de fuego y nube, y trastornó el campamento de los egipcios;

And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

25 q uitó además las ruedas de sus carros y los trastornó gravemente. Entonces los egipcios dijeron: —Huyamos ante Israel, porque Jehová pelea por ellos contra los egipcios.

And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.

26 P ero Jehová dijo a Moisés: —Extiende tu mano sobre el mar, para que las aguas se vuelvan contra los egipcios, sus carros y su caballería.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.

27 M oisés extendió su mano sobre el mar y, cuando amanecía, el mar se volvió con toda su fuerza; al huir, los egipcios se encontraban con el mar. Así derribó Jehová a los egipcios en medio del mar,

And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

28 p ues al volver las aguas, cubrieron los carros, la caballería y todo el ejército del faraón que había entrado tras ellos en el mar; no quedó ni uno de ellos.

And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.

29 E n cambio, los hijos de Israel fueron por en medio del mar, en seco, y las aguas eran como un muro a su derecha y a su izquierda.

But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

30 A sí salvó Jehová aquel día a Israel de manos de los egipcios; e Israel vio a los egipcios muertos a la orilla del mar.

Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.

31 A l ver Israel aquel gran hecho que Jehová ejecutó contra los egipcios, el pueblo temió a Jehová, y creyeron a Jehová y a Moisés, su siervo.

And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses.
