1 T ambién les refirió Jesús una parábola sobre la necesidad de orar siempre y no desmayar,

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

2 d iciendo: «Había en una ciudad un juez que ni temía a Dios ni respetaba a hombre.

Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

3 H abía también en aquella ciudad una viuda, la cual venía a él diciendo: “Hazme justicia de mi adversario.”

And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4 É l no quiso por algún tiempo; pero después de esto dijo dentro de sí: “Aunque ni temo a Dios ni tengo respeto a hombre,

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

5 s in embargo, porque esta viuda me es molesta, le haré justicia, no sea que viniendo de continuo me agote la paciencia.”»

Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

6 Y dijo el Señor: «Oíd lo que dijo el juez injusto.

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

7 ¿ Y acaso Dios no hará justicia a sus escogidos, que claman a él día y noche? ¿Se tardará en responderles?

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

8 O s digo que pronto les hará justicia. Pero cuando venga el Hijo del hombre, ¿hallará fe en la tierra?» Parábola del fariseo y el publicano

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

9 A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos y menospreciaban a los otros, dijo también esta parábola:

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10 « Dos hombres subieron al Templo a orar: uno era fariseo y el otro publicano.

Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

11 E l fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: “Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los otros hombres: ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni aun como este publicano;

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

12 a yuno dos veces a la semana, diezmo de todo lo que gano.”

I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13 P ero el publicano, estando lejos, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: “Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador.”

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14 O s digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado antes que el otro, porque cualquiera que se enaltece será humillado y el que se humilla será enaltecido.» Jesús bendice a los niños

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

15 T raían a él niños para que los tocara. Al verlo los discípulos, los reprendieron.

And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

16 P ero Jesús, llamándolos, dijo: —Dejad a los niños venir a mí y no se lo impidáis, porque de los tales es el reino de Dios.

But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

17 D e cierto os digo que el que no recibe el reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él. El joven rico

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

18 U n dignatario le preguntó, diciendo: —Maestro bueno, ¿qué haré para heredar la vida eterna?

And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

19 J esús le dijo: —¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Nadie es bueno, sino sólo Dios.

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

20 L os mandamientos sabes: “No adulterarás; no matarás; no hurtarás; no dirás falso testimonio; honra a tu padre y a tu madre.”

Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

21 É l dijo: —Todo esto lo he guardado desde mi juventud.

And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

22 A l oír esto, Jesús le dijo: —Aún te falta una cosa: vende todo lo que tienes y dalo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven, sígueme.

Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

23 E ntonces él, oyendo esto, se puso muy triste porque era muy rico.

And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

24 A l ver Jesús que se había entristecido mucho, dijo: —¡Cuán difícilmente entrarán en el reino de Dios los que tienen riquezas!

And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

25 P orque es más fácil que pase un camello por el ojo de una aguja que un rico entre en el reino de Dios.

For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 L os que oyeron esto dijeron: —¿Quién, pues, podrá ser salvo?

And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?

27 É l les dijo: —Lo que es imposible para los hombres, es posible para Dios.

And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

28 E ntonces Pedro dijo: —Pues nosotros hemos dejado nuestras posesiones y te hemos seguido.

Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

29 Y él les dijo: —De cierto os digo que no hay nadie que haya dejado casa, o padres o hermanos o mujer o hijos, por el reino de Dios,

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

30 q ue no haya de recibir mucho más en este tiempo, y en el siglo venidero la vida eterna. Jesús anuncia por tercera vez su muerte

Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

31 T omando Jesús a los doce, les dijo: —Cuando lleguemos a Jerusalén se cumplirán todas las cosas escritas por los profetas acerca del Hijo del hombre,

Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

32 p ues será entregado a los gentiles, se burlarán de él, lo insultarán y le escupirán.

For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

33 Y después que lo hayan azotado, lo matarán; pero al tercer día resucitará.

And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

34 S in embargo, ellos nada comprendieron de estas cosas, porque esta palabra les era encubierta y no entendían lo que se les decía. Un ciego de Jericó recibe la vista

And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

35 A conteció que, acercándose Jesús a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino mendigando,

And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

36 y al oír a la multitud que pasaba, preguntó qué era aquello.

And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

37 L e dijeron que pasaba Jesús nazareno.

And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

38 E ntonces gritó, diciendo: —¡Jesús, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!

And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

39 L os que iban delante lo reprendían para que callara; pero él gritaba aún más fuerte: —¡Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí!

And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

40 J esús entonces, deteniéndose, mandó traerlo a su presencia. Cuando llegó, le preguntó,

And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,

41 d iciendo: —¿Qué quieres que te haga? Y él dijo: —Señor, que reciba la vista.

Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

42 J esús le dijo: —Recíbela, tu fe te ha salvado.

And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

43 A l instante recobró la vista, y lo seguía glorificando a Dios; y todo el pueblo, cuando vio aquello, dio alabanza a Dios.

And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
