1 A conteció que estaba Jesús orando en un lugar y, cuando terminó, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: —Señor, enséñanos a orar, como también Juan enseñó a sus discípulos.

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

2 É l les dijo: —Cuando oréis, decid: »“Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre. Venga tu Reino. Hágase tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra.

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3 E l pan nuestro de cada día, dánoslo hoy.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 P erdónanos nuestros pecados, porque también nosotros perdonamos a todos los que nos deben. Y no nos metas en tentación, mas líbranos del mal.”

And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

5 L es dijo también: —¿Quién de vosotros que tenga un amigo, va a él a medianoche y le dice: “Amigo, préstame tres panes,

And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

6 p orque un amigo mío ha venido a mí de viaje y no tengo qué ofrecerle”;

For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?

7 y aquél, respondiendo desde adentro, le dice: “No me molestes; la puerta ya está cerrada y mis niños están conmigo en cama. No puedo levantarme y dártelos”?

And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.

8 O s digo que, si no se levanta a dárselos por ser su amigo, al menos por su importunidad se levantará y le dará todo lo que necesite.

I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.

9 P or eso os digo: Pedid, y se os dará; buscad, y hallaréis; llamad, y se os abrirá,

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

10 p orque todo aquel que pide, recibe; y el que busca, halla; y al que llama, se le abrirá.

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

11 » ¿Qué padre de vosotros, si su hijo le pide pan, le dará una piedra? ¿O si le pide pescado, en lugar de pescado le dará una serpiente?

If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

12 ¿ O si le pide un huevo, le dará un escorpión?

Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

13 P ues si vosotros, siendo malos, sabéis dar buenas dádivas a vuestros hijos, ¿cuánto más vuestro Padre celestial dará el Espíritu Santo a los que se lo pidan? Una casa dividida contra sí misma

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

14 E staba Jesús echando fuera un demonio, que era mudo; y aconteció que, después de salir el demonio, el mudo habló y la gente quedó maravillada.

And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.

15 P ero algunos de ellos decían: —Por Beelzebú, príncipe de los demonios, echa fuera los demonios.

But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.

16 O tros, para tentarlo, le pedían señal del cielo.

And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

17 P ero él, conociendo los pensamientos de ellos, les dijo: —Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo es asolado, y una casa dividida contra sí misma, cae.

But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

18 D e igual manera, si Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo permanecerá su reino? Os digo esto ya que decís que por Beelzebú echo yo fuera los demonios.

If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.

19 S i yo echo fuera los demonios por Beelzebú, ¿vuestros hijos por quién los echan? Por tanto, ellos serán vuestros jueces.

And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.

20 P ero si por el dedo de Dios echo yo fuera los demonios, ciertamente el reino de Dios ha llegado a vosotros.

But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

21 » Mientras el hombre fuerte y armado guarda su palacio, en paz está lo que posee.

When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

22 P ero cuando viene otro más fuerte que él y lo vence, le quita todas las armas en que confiaba y reparte el botín.

But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

23 » El que no es conmigo, contra mí es; y el que conmigo no recoge, desparrama. El espíritu impuro que vuelve

He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.

24 » Cuando el espíritu impuro sale del hombre, anda por lugares secos buscando reposo; pero, al no hallarlo, dice: “Volveré a mi casa, de donde salí.”

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.

25 C uando llega, la halla barrida y adornada.

And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.

26 E ntonces va y toma otros siete espíritus peores que él; y entran y viven allí, y el estado final de aquel hombre viene a ser peor que el primero. Los que en verdad son bienaventurados

Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

27 M ientras él decía estas cosas, una mujer de entre la multitud levantó la voz y le dijo: —¡Bienaventurado el vientre que te llevó y los senos que mamaste!

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

28 P ero él dijo: —¡Antes bien, bienaventurados los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la obedecen! La generación perversa demanda señal

But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

29 A piñándose las multitudes, comenzó a decir: «Esta generación es mala; demanda señal, pero señal no le será dada, sino la señal de Jonás,

And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.

30 p orque así como Jonás fue señal a los ninivitas, lo será también el Hijo del hombre a esta generación.

For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.

31 L a reina del Sur se levantará en el juicio contra los hombres de esta generación y los condenará, porque ella vino desde los confines de la tierra para oír la sabiduría de Salomón, y en este lugar hay alguien que es más que Salomón.

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

32 L os hombres de Nínive se levantarán en el juicio contra esta generación y la condenarán, porque ante la predicación de Jonás se arrepintieron, y en este lugar hay alguien que es más que Jonás. La lámpara del cuerpo

The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

33 » Nadie pone en oculto la luz encendida, ni debajo de una vasija, sino en el candelero, para que los que entran vean la luz.

No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.

34 L a lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo. Cuando tu ojo es bueno, también todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz; pero cuando tu ojo es maligno, también tu cuerpo está en tinieblas.

The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

35 C uidado, pues, no sea que la luz que en ti hay no sea luz, sino tinieblas.

Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.

36 A sí que, si todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz, no teniendo parte alguna de tinieblas, será todo luminoso, como cuando una lámpara te alumbra con su resplandor.» Jesús acusa a fariseos y a intérpretes de la Ley

If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

37 T an pronto terminó de hablar, un fariseo le rogó que comiera con él; y entrando Jesús en la casa, se sentó a la mesa.

And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.

38 E l fariseo, cuando lo vio, se extrañó de que no se hubiera lavado antes de comer.

And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.

39 P ero el Señor le dijo: —Vosotros los fariseos limpiáis lo de fuera del vaso y del plato, pero por dentro estáis llenos de rapacidad y de maldad.

And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

40 ¡ Necios!, el que hizo lo de fuera, ¿no hizo también lo de dentro?

Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?

41 D ad limosna de lo que tenéis, y entonces todo os será limpio.

But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

42 » Pero ¡ay de vosotros, fariseos!, que diezmáis la menta, la ruda y toda hortaliza, y pasáis por alto la justicia y el amor de Dios. Esto os era necesario hacer, sin dejar de hacer aquello.

But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

43 » ¡Ay de vosotros, fariseos!, que amáis las primeras sillas en las sinagogas y las salutaciones en las plazas.

Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.

44 » ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas!, que sois como sepulcros que no se ven, y los hombres que andan por encima no lo saben.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.

45 R espondiendo uno de los intérpretes de la Ley, le dijo: —Maestro, cuando dices esto, también nos ofendes a nosotros.

Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.

46 É l dijo: —¡Ay de vosotros también, intérpretes de la Ley!, porque cargáis a los hombres con cargas que no pueden llevar, pero vosotros ni aun con un dedo las tocáis.

And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

47 » ¡Ay de vosotros, que edificáis los sepulcros de los profetas a quienes mataron vuestros padres!

Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

48 D e modo que sois testigos y consentidores de los hechos de vuestros padres; a la verdad ellos los mataron, pero vosotros edificáis sus sepulcros.

Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.

49 » Por eso la sabiduría de Dios también dijo: “Les enviaré profetas y apóstoles; y de ellos, a unos matarán y a otros perseguirán”,

Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:

50 p ara que se demande de esta generación la sangre de todos los profetas que se ha derramado desde la fundación del mundo,

That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

51 d esde la sangre de Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías, que murió entre el altar y el Templo; sí, os digo que será demandada de esta generación.

From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

52 » ¡Ay de vosotros, intérpretes de la Ley!, porque habéis quitado la llave de la ciencia; vosotros mismos no entrasteis, y a los que entraban se lo impedisteis.

Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

53 D iciéndoles él estas cosas, los escribas y los fariseos comenzaron a acosarlo en gran manera y a provocarlo para que hablara de muchas cosas,

And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:

54 a cechándolo y procurando cazar alguna palabra de su boca para acusarlo.

Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.
