1 E ntonces se acercaron a Jesús ciertos escribas y fariseos de Jerusalén, diciendo:

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

2 — ¿Por qué tus discípulos quebrantan la tradición de los ancianos?, pues no se lavan las manos cuando comen pan.

Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

3 R espondiendo él, les dijo: —¿Por qué también vosotros quebrantáis el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición?

But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

4 D ios mandó diciendo: “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre”, y “El que maldiga al padre o a la madre, sea condenado a muerte”,

For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

5 p ero vosotros decís: “Cualquiera que diga a su padre o a su madre: ‘Es mi ofrenda a Dios todo aquello con que pudiera ayudarte’,

But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

6 y a no ha de honrar a su padre o a su madre.” Así habéis invalidado el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición.

And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

7 H ipócritas, bien profetizó de vosotros Isaías, cuando dijo:

Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

8 » “Este pueblo de labios me honra, mas su corazón está lejos de mí,

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

9 p ues en vano me honran, enseñando como doctrinas mandamientos de hombres.”

But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

10 Y llamando a sí a la multitud, les dijo: —Oíd, y entended:

And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

11 N o lo que entra por la boca contamina al hombre; pero lo que sale de la boca, esto contamina al hombre.

Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

12 E ntonces, acercándose sus discípulos, le dijeron: —¿Sabes que los fariseos se ofendieron cuando oyeron esta palabra?

Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

13 P ero respondiendo él, dijo: —Toda planta que no plantó mi Padre celestial será desarraigada.

But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14 D ejadlos; son ciegos guías de ciegos; y si el ciego guía al ciego, ambos caerán en el hoyo.

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

15 R espondiendo Pedro, le dijo: —Explícanos esta parábola.

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

16 J esús dijo: —¿También vosotros estáis faltos de entendimiento?

And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

17 ¿ No entendéis que todo lo que entra en la boca va al vientre, y es echado en la letrina?

Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18 P ero lo que sale de la boca, del corazón sale; y esto contamina al hombre,

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19 p orque del corazón salen los malos pensamientos, los homicidios, los adulterios, las fornicaciones, los hurtos, los falsos testimonios, las blasfemias.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20 E stas cosas son las que contaminan al hombre; pero el comer con las manos sin lavar no contamina al hombre. La fe de la mujer cananea

These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

21 S aliendo Jesús de allí, se fue a la región de Tiro y de Sidón.

Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 E ntonces una mujer cananea que había salido de aquella región comenzó a gritar y a decirle: —¡Señor, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí! Mi hija es gravemente atormentada por un demonio.

And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 P ero Jesús no le respondió palabra. Entonces, acercándose sus discípulos, le rogaron diciendo: —Despídela, pues viene gritando detrás de nosotros.

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 É l, respondiendo, dijo: —No soy enviado sino a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.

But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 E ntonces ella vino y se postró ante él, diciendo: —¡Señor, socórreme!

Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 R espondiendo él, dijo: —No está bien tomar el pan de los hijos y echarlo a los perros.

But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 E lla dijo: —Sí, Señor; pero aun los perros comen de las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus amos.

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

28 E ntonces, respondiendo Jesús, dijo: —¡Mujer, grande es tu fe! Hágase contigo como quieres. Y su hija fue sanada desde aquella hora. Jesús sana a muchos

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

29 P asó Jesús de allí y fue junto al Mar de Galilea; subió al monte y se sentó allí.

And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

30 S e le acercó mucha gente que traía consigo cojos, ciegos, mudos, mancos y otros muchos enfermos. Los pusieron a los pies de Jesús, y los sanó;

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

31 d e manera que la multitud se maravillaba al ver que los mudos hablaban, los mancos quedaban sanos, los cojos andaban y los ciegos veían. Y glorificaban al Dios de Israel. Alimentación de los cuatro mil

Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

32 J esús, llamando a sus discípulos, dijo: —Tengo compasión de la gente, porque ya hace tres días que están conmigo y no tienen qué comer; y no quiero despedirlos en ayunas, no sea que se desmayen en el camino.

Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

33 E ntonces sus discípulos le dijeron: —¿De dónde sacaremos nosotros tantos panes en el desierto para saciar a una multitud tan grande?

And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

34 J esús les preguntó: —¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: —Siete y unos pocos peces.

And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

35 E ntonces mandó a la multitud que se recostara en tierra.

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

36 T omó los siete panes y los peces, dio gracias, los partió y dio a sus discípulos, y los discípulos a la multitud.

And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37 C omieron todos y se saciaron; y de los pedazos que sobraron recogieron siete canastas llenas.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

38 L os que comieron eran como cuatro mil hombres, sin contar las mujeres y los niños.

And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

39 E ntonces, después de despedir a la gente, entró en la barca y fue a la región de Magdala.

And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
