1 S u propio deseo busca el que se aparta y se entremete en todo negocio.

Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

2 N o se complace el necio en la inteligencia, sino en manifestar su propia opinión.

A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

3 C on el malvado viene también el menosprecio, y con el que deshonra, la afrenta.

When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.

4 A guas profundas son las palabras de la boca del hombre; y arroyo que rebosa es la fuente de la sabiduría.

The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

5 T ener respeto a la persona del malvado para pervertir el derecho del justo, no es bueno.

It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

6 L os labios del necio provocan contienda; su boca, a los azotes llama.

A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.

7 L a boca del necio le acarrea quebranto; sus labios son trampas para su propia vida.

A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

8 L as palabras del chismoso son como bocados suaves que penetran hasta las entrañas.

The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

9 E l que es negligente en su trabajo es hermano del hombre destructor.

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

10 F uerte torre es el nombre de Jehová; a ella corre el justo y se siente seguro.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

11 L as riquezas del rico son su ciudad fortificada; como un muro defensivo se las imagina.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.

12 A ntes del quebranto se engríe el corazón del hombre, pero antes de los honores está la humildad.

Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

13 A l que responde sin haber escuchado, la palabra le es fatuidad y vergüenza.

He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

14 E l ánimo del hombre le sostendrá en su enfermedad, pero ¿quién sostendrá a un ánimo angustiado?

The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

15 E l corazón del inteligente adquiere sabiduría, y el oído de los sabios busca la ciencia.

The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

16 L os regalos de un hombre le abren el camino que lleva a la presencia de los grandes.

A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.

17 J usto parece el primero que aboga por su causa, pero viene su adversario y le rebate.

He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.

18 L as suertes ponen fin a los pleitos y deciden entre los poderosos.

The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.

19 E l hermano ofendido es más tenaz que una ciudad fuerte, y las contiendas entre hermanos son como cerrojos de alcázar.

A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

20 D el fruto de la boca del hombre se llena su vientre; se sacia del producto de sus labios.

A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

21 L a muerte y la vida están en poder de la lengua; el que la ama, comerá de sus frutos.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

22 E l que encuentra esposa encuentra el bien y alcanza la benevolencia de Jehová.

Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.

23 E l pobre habla con ruegos; el rico responde con dureza.

The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.

24 E l hombre que tiene amigos debe ser amistoso, y amigos hay más unidos que un hermano.

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
