1 E scuchadme, costas, y esfuércense los pueblos; acérquense, y entonces hablen; vengamos juntos a juicio.

Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

2 ¿ Quién despertó del oriente al justo, lo llamó para que lo siguiera, entregó delante de él naciones y le hizo enseñorearse de reyes? ¿Quién los volvió con su espada como polvo, como paja arrebatada por su arco?

Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

3 L os siguió, pasó en paz por camino por donde sus pies nunca habían entrado.

He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

4 ¿ Quién hizo y realizó esto? ¿Quién llama las generaciones desde el principio? Yo Jehová, soy el primero, y yo mismo seré con los últimos.

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am he.

5 L as costas vieron y tuvieron temor; los confines de la tierra se espantaron; se congregaron y vinieron.

The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

6 C ada cual ayuda a su vecino y dice a su hermano: «¡Esfuérzate!»

They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

7 E l carpintero anima al platero y el que alisa con martillo al que bate en el yunque, diciéndole: «¡Bien está la soldadura!» Y luego lo afirman con clavos para que no se mueva.

So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

8 P ero tú, Israel, siervo mío eres; tú, Jacob, a quien yo escogí, descendencia de Abraham, mi amigo.

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

9 P orque te tomé de los confines de la tierra, de tierras lejanas te llamé y te dije: «Mi siervo eres tú; te escogí y no te deseché.

Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

10 N o temas, porque yo estoy contigo; no desmayes, porque yo soy tu Dios que te esfuerzo; siempre te ayudaré, siempre te sustentaré con la diestra de mi justicia.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

11 H e aquí que todos los que se enojan contra ti serán avergonzados y confundidos; serán como nada y perecerán los que contienden contigo.

Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

12 B uscarás a los que tienen contienda contigo y no los hallarás; serán como nada, como cosa que no existe, aquellos que te hacen la guerra.

Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

13 P orque yo Jehová soy tu Dios, quien te sostiene de tu mano derecha y te dice: “No temas, yo te ayudo.”

For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

14 » ¡No temas, gusanito de Jacob; vosotros, los poquitos de Israel! Yo soy tu socorro, dice Jehová; el Santo de Israel es tu Redentor.

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15 H e aquí que yo te he puesto por trillo, por trillo nuevo, lleno de dientes; trillarás montes y los molerás, y collados reducirás a tamo.

Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

16 L os aventarás y se los llevará el viento; los esparcirá el torbellino; pero tú te regocijarás en Jehová, te gloriarás en el Santo de Israel.

Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 » Los afligidos y necesitados buscan las aguas, pero no las encuentran; seca está de sed su lengua. Yo, Jehová, los oiré; yo, el Dios de Israel, no los desampararé.

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

18 E n las alturas abriré ríos y fuentes en medio de los valles; abriré en el desierto estanques de aguas y manantiales de aguas en la tierra seca.

I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19 H aré crecer en la estepa cedros, acacias, arrayanes y olivos; pondré en la tierra árida cipreses, olmos y bojes juntamente,

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

20 p ara que vean y conozcan, y adviertan y entiendan todos que la mano de Jehová hace esto, que el Santo de Israel lo ha creado.» Dios reta a los falsos dioses

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

21 « Alegad por vuestra causa», dice Jehová; «presentad vuestras pruebas», dice el Rey de Jacob.

Produce your cause, saith the Lord; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

22 Q ue se acerquen y nos anuncien lo que ha de venir: que nos digan lo que ha pasado desde el principio y pondremos nuestro corazón en ello; y sepamos también su final. ¡Hacednos entender lo que ha de venir!

Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

23 D adnos noticias de lo que ha de ser después, para que sepamos que vosotros sois dioses. A lo menos haced algo, sea bueno o malo, para que tengamos algo que contar y, al propio tiempo, nos maravillemos.

Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

24 H e aquí que vosotros sois nada, y vuestras obras, vanidad; abominación es el que os escoge.

Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

25 D el norte levanté a uno, y vendrá; de donde nace el sol invocará mi nombre, y pisoteará príncipes como a lodo, como pisa el barro el alfarero.

I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

26 ¿ Quién lo anunció desde el principio, para que lo sepamos; o de tiempo atrás, para que digamos: «Es justo»? Cierto, no hay quien lo anuncie; sí, no hay quien lo enseñe. Ciertamente, no hay quien oiga vuestras palabras.

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

27 Y o soy el primero que he enseñado estas cosas a Sión, y a Jerusalén daré un mensajero de alegres noticias.

The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

28 M iré, pero no había ninguno; les pregunté por estas cosas, pero ningún consejero hubo; les pregunté, pero no respondieron palabra.

For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

29 H e aquí, todos son vanidad y sus obras no son nada. ¡Viento y vanidad son sus imágenes fundidas!

Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
