1 E scuchadme, costas, y esfuércense los pueblos; acérquense, y entonces hablen; vengamos juntos a juicio.

Keep silence before me, islands; and let the peoples renew strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us draw near together to judgment.

2 ¿ Quién despertó del oriente al justo, lo llamó para que lo siguiera, entregó delante de él naciones y le hizo enseñorearse de reyes? ¿Quién los volvió con su espada como polvo, como paja arrebatada por su arco?

Who raised up from the east him whom righteousness calleth to its foot? He gave the nations before him, and caused him to have dominion over kings; he gave them as dust to his sword, as driven stubble to his bow.

3 L os siguió, pasó en paz por camino por donde sus pies nunca habían entrado.

He pursued them, he passed on in safety, by a way he had never come with his feet.

4 ¿ Quién hizo y realizó esto? ¿Quién llama las generaciones desde el principio? Yo Jehová, soy el primero, y yo mismo seré con los últimos.

Who hath wrought and done, calling the generations from the beginning? I, Jehovah, the first; and with the last, I HE.

5 L as costas vieron y tuvieron temor; los confines de la tierra se espantaron; se congregaron y vinieron.

The isles saw, and feared; the ends of the earth trembled: they drew near, and came.

6 C ada cual ayuda a su vecino y dice a su hermano: «¡Esfuérzate!»

They helped every one his neighbour, and said to his brother, Take courage.

7 E l carpintero anima al platero y el que alisa con martillo al que bate en el yunque, diciéndole: «¡Bien está la soldadura!» Y luego lo afirman con clavos para que no se mueva.

And the artizan encouraged the founder, he that smootheth the hammer him that smiteth on the anvil, saying of the soldering, It is good; and he fasteneth it with nails, that it be not moved.

8 P ero tú, Israel, siervo mío eres; tú, Jacob, a quien yo escogí, descendencia de Abraham, mi amigo.

But thou, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham, my friend

9 P orque te tomé de los confines de la tierra, de tierras lejanas te llamé y te dije: «Mi siervo eres tú; te escogí y no te deseché.

—thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called from the extremities thereof, and to whom I said, Thou art my servant, I have chosen thee and not rejected thee,

10 N o temas, porque yo estoy contigo; no desmayes, porque yo soy tu Dios que te esfuerzo; siempre te ayudaré, siempre te sustentaré con la diestra de mi justicia.

—Fear not, for I with thee; be not dismayed, for I thy God: I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

11 H e aquí que todos los que se enojan contra ti serán avergonzados y confundidos; serán como nada y perecerán los que contienden contigo.

Lo, all that are incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded; they that strive with thee shall be as nothing, and shall perish.

12 B uscarás a los que tienen contienda contigo y no los hallarás; serán como nada, como cosa que no existe, aquellos que te hacen la guerra.

Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them—them that contend with thee; they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

13 P orque yo Jehová soy tu Dios, quien te sostiene de tu mano derecha y te dice: “No temas, yo te ayudo.”

For I, Jehovah, thy God, hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

14 » ¡No temas, gusanito de Jacob; vosotros, los poquitos de Israel! Yo soy tu socorro, dice Jehová; el Santo de Israel es tu Redentor.

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith Jehovah, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15 H e aquí que yo te he puesto por trillo, por trillo nuevo, lleno de dientes; trillarás montes y los molerás, y collados reducirás a tamo.

Behold, I have made of thee a new sharp threshing instrument having double teeth: thou shalt thresh and beat small the mountains, and shalt make the hills as chaff;

16 L os aventarás y se los llevará el viento; los esparcirá el torbellino; pero tú te regocijarás en Jehová, te gloriarás en el Santo de Israel.

thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; and thou shalt rejoice in Jehovah, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 » Los afligidos y necesitados buscan las aguas, pero no las encuentran; seca está de sed su lengua. Yo, Jehová, los oiré; yo, el Dios de Israel, no los desampararé.

The afflicted and the needy seek water, and there is none; their tongue faileth for thirst: I, Jehovah, will answer them,, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

18 E n las alturas abriré ríos y fuentes en medio de los valles; abriré en el desierto estanques de aguas y manantiales de aguas en la tierra seca.

I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness into a pool of water, and the dry land into water-springs.

19 H aré crecer en la estepa cedros, acacias, arrayanes y olivos; pondré en la tierra árida cipreses, olmos y bojes juntamente,

I will give in the wilderness the cedar, acacia, myrtle, and oleaster; I will set in the desert the cypress, pine, and box-tree together;

20 p ara que vean y conozcan, y adviertan y entiendan todos que la mano de Jehová hace esto, que el Santo de Israel lo ha creado.» Dios reta a los falsos dioses

that they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of Jehovah hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

21 « Alegad por vuestra causa», dice Jehová; «presentad vuestras pruebas», dice el Rey de Jacob.

Produce your cause, saith Jehovah; bring forward your arguments, saith the King of Jacob.

22 Q ue se acerquen y nos anuncien lo que ha de venir: que nos digan lo que ha pasado desde el principio y pondremos nuestro corazón en ello; y sepamos también su final. ¡Hacednos entender lo que ha de venir!

Let them bring them forward, and declare to us what shall happen: shew the former things, what they are, that we may give attention to them, and know the end of them;—or let us hear things to come:

23 D adnos noticias de lo que ha de ser después, para que sepamos que vosotros sois dioses. A lo menos haced algo, sea bueno o malo, para que tengamos algo que contar y, al propio tiempo, nos maravillemos.

declare the things that are to happen hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods; yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be astonished, and behold it together.

24 H e aquí que vosotros sois nada, y vuestras obras, vanidad; abominación es el que os escoge.

Behold, ye are less than nothing, and your work is of nought; an abomination is he that chooseth you. …

25 D el norte levanté a uno, y vendrá; de donde nace el sol invocará mi nombre, y pisoteará príncipes como a lodo, como pisa el barro el alfarero.

I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come,—from the rising of the sun, he who will call upon my name; and he shall come upon princes as on mortar, and as the potter treadeth clay.

26 ¿ Quién lo anunció desde el principio, para que lo sepamos; o de tiempo atrás, para que digamos: «Es justo»? Cierto, no hay quien lo anuncie; sí, no hay quien lo enseñe. Ciertamente, no hay quien oiga vuestras palabras.

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, right? Indeed, there is none that declareth; no, none that sheweth; no, none that heareth your words.

27 Y o soy el primero que he enseñado estas cosas a Sión, y a Jerusalén daré un mensajero de alegres noticias.

The first, to Zion, Behold, behold them! and to Jerusalem, I will give one that bringeth glad tidings.

28 M iré, pero no había ninguno; les pregunté por estas cosas, pero ningún consejero hubo; les pregunté, pero no respondieron palabra.

And I beheld, and there was no man; even among them,—and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

29 H e aquí, todos son vanidad y sus obras no son nada. ¡Viento y vanidad son sus imágenes fundidas!

Behold, they are all vanity, their works are nought, their molten images are wind and emptiness.
