1 E n aquel tiempo Abías hijo de Jeroboam cayó enfermo.

At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam was sick.

2 Y dijo Jeroboam a su mujer: «Levántate ahora y disfrázate, para que no reconozcan que eres la mujer de Jeroboam, y ve a Silo, porque allá está el profeta Ahías, el que me dijo que yo sería rey de este pueblo.

And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and go to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, who told me that king over this people.

3 T oma en tus manos diez panes, tortas y una vasija de miel, y acude a él, para que te declare lo que ha de ser de este niño.»

And take with thee ten loaves, and cakes, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he will tell thee what shall become of the lad.

4 L a mujer de Jeroboam lo hizo así; se levantó, fue a Silo y llegó a la casa de Ahías. Ahías ya no podía ver, porque sus ojos se habían oscurecido a causa de la vejez.

And Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. And Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 P ero Jehová había dicho a Ahías: «Mira, la mujer de Jeroboam vendrá a consultarte sobre su hijo que está enfermo. Así y así le responderás, pues cuando ella llegue, vendrá disfrazada.»

And Jehovah said to Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee about her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her; for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign to be another.

6 C uando Ahías oyó el sonido de sus pies al entrar ella por la puerta, dijo: «Entra, mujer de Jeroboam. ¿Por qué te finges otra? Me han enviado a tu presencia con una revelación dura.

And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou to be another? But I am sent to thee with a hard.

7 V e y dile a Jeroboam: “Así dijo Jehová, Dios de Israel: Yo te levanté de en medio del pueblo, y te hice príncipe de mi pueblo Israel.

Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,

8 L e quité el reino a la casa de David y te lo entregué a ti. Pero tú no has sido como David, mi siervo, que guardó mis mandamientos y anduvo en pos de mí con todo su corazón, haciendo solamente lo recto delante de mis ojos,

and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee; and thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do only that which is right in my sight;

9 s ino que hiciste más mal que todos los que te han precedido, pues fuiste y te hiciste dioses ajenos e imágenes de fundición para enojarme, y a mí me has despreciado.

but thou hast done evil above all that were before thee, and hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:

10 P or tanto, voy a traer el mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam: extirparé todos los hombres a la casa de Jeroboam en Israel, tanto el siervo como el libre. Barreré la descendencia de la casa de Jeroboam como se barre el estiércol, hasta que no quede nada.

therefore behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every male, him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

11 A l que muera de los de Jeroboam en la ciudad lo comerán los perros, y al que muera en el campo, lo comerán las aves del cielo, porque Jehová lo ha dicho.”

Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat, and him that dieth in the field shall the fowl of the heavens eat; for Jehovah hath spoken.

12 E n cuanto a ti, levántate y vete a tu casa. Al poner tu pie en la ciudad, morirá el niño.

And thou, arise, go to thine own house; when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13 T odo Israel hará por él lamentación y lo enterrarán, pues de los descendientes de Jeroboam sólo él será sepultado, por cuanto de la casa de Jeroboam sólo en él se ha hallado alguna cosa buena delante de Jehová, Dios de Israel.

And all Israel shall mourn for him, and they shall bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found something good toward Jehovah the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

14 Y Jehová levantará para sí un rey en Israel que extirpará en este día la casa de Jeroboam; y lo hará ahora mismo.

And Jehovah shall raise up for himself a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day; and what? … even now.

15 J ehová sacudirá a Israel al modo como la caña se agita en las aguas, arrancará a Israel de esta buena tierra que había dado a sus padres, y los esparcirá más allá del Éufrates, por cuanto han hecho sus imágenes de Asera, enojando a Jehová.

And Jehovah will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their Asherahs, provoking Jehovah to anger.

16 É l entregará a Israel por los pecados de Jeroboam, quien pecó y ha hecho pecar a Israel.»

And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, wherewith he has sinned, and made Israel to sin.

17 E ntonces la mujer de Jeroboam se levantó, se marchó y entró a Tirsa. Cuando cruzó el umbral de la casa, el niño murió.

And Jeroboam's wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah; when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died.

18 L o enterraron, y todo Israel hizo lamento por él, conforme a la palabra de Jehová, la que él había anunciado por medio de su siervo, el profeta Ahías.

And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spoke through his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 L os demás hechos de Jeroboam, las guerras que hizo, y cómo reinó, todo está escrito en el libro de las historias de los reyes de Israel.

And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 E l tiempo que reinó Jeroboam fue de veintidós años. Cuando durmió con sus padres, reinó en su lugar su hijo Nadab. Reinado de Roboam

And the days that Jeroboam reigned were twenty-two years; and he slept with his fathers. And Nadab his son reigned in his stead.

21 R oboam hijo de Salomón reinó en Judá. De cuarenta y un años era Roboam cuando comenzó a reinar; diecisiete años reinó en Jerusalén, ciudad que Jehová eligió entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su nombre. El nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita.

And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there; and his mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonitess.

22 J udá hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová y lo enojaron con los pecados que cometieron más que todo lo que hicieron sus padres.

And Judah did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed more than all that their fathers had done.

23 T ambién ellos se edificaron lugares altos, estatuas e imágenes de Asera, en todo collado alto y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

And they also built for themselves high places, and columns, and Asherahs on every high hill and under every green tree;

24 H ubo también sodomitas en la tierra, que cometieron todas las abominaciones de las naciones que Jehová había echado de delante de los hijos de Israel.

and there were also sodomites in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations that Jehovah had dispossessed before the children of Israel.

25 A l quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sisac, rey de Egipto, contra Jerusalén,

And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem.

26 t omó los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, los tesoros de la casa real, y lo saqueó todo. También se llevó todos los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.

And he took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all; and he took away all the shields of gold that Solomon had made.

27 E n lugar de ellos, el rey Roboam hizo escudos de bronce y se los dio a los capitanes de la guardia que custodiaban la puerta de la casa real.

And king Rehoboam made in their stead brazen shields, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the couriers who kept the entrance of the king's house.

28 C uando el rey entraba en la casa de Jehová, los de la guardia los llevaban, y después volvían a ponerlos en la sala de la guardia.

And it was so, that as often as the king entered into the house of Jehovah, the couriers bore them, and brought them again into the chamber of the couriers.

29 L os demás hechos de Roboam, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está escrito en las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

And the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 T odos los días hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam.

And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all days.

31 R oboam durmió con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David. El nombre de su madre era Naama, amonita. Reinó en su lugar Abiam, su hijo.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.
