1 ¡ Ay de los hijos que se apartan, dice Jehová, para tomar consejo, y no de mí; para cobijarse con cubierta, y no de mi espíritu, añadiendo pecado a pecado!

Woe to the rebellious children, saith Jehovah, who take counsel, but not of me, and who make leagues, but not by my Spirit, that they may heap sin upon sin;

2 S e apartan para descender a Egipto pero no me han consultado. Quieren fortalecerse con la fuerza del faraón, y ponen su esperanza en el amparo de Egipto.

who walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked of my mouth,—to take refuge under the protection of Pharaoh, and trust in the shadow of Egypt!

3 P ero la fuerza del faraón se os cambiará en vergüenza y la protección a la sombra de Egipto, en confusión.

For to you the protection of Pharaoh shall be a shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt a confusion.

4 C uando estén sus jefes en Zoán y sus embajadores lleguen a Hanes,

For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes.

5 t odos se avergonzarán de un pueblo que no les sirve de nada, ni los socorre ni les trae provecho alguno; antes les será para vergüenza y aun para deshonra.

They were all ashamed of a people did not profit them, nor were a help or profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.

6 P rofecía sobre las bestias del Neguev: Por tierra de tribulación y angustia, de donde salen la leona y el león, la víbora y la serpiente que vuela, llevan sobre lomos de asnos sus riquezas y sus tesoros sobre jorobas de camellos. Las llevan a un pueblo que no les será de provecho alguno.

—The burden of the beasts of the south: Through a land of trouble and anguish, whence come the lioness and lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches upon the shoulders of asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to the people that shall not profit.

7 C iertamente, la ayuda de Egipto será vana e inútil. Por eso yo le he dado voces, que su fortaleza sería estarse quietos.

For Egypt shall help in vain, and to no purpose; therefore have I named her, Arrogance, that doeth nothing.

8 V e, pues, ahora, y escribe esta visión en una tabla en presencia de ellos, y regístrala en un libro, para que quede hasta el día postrero, eternamente y para siempre.

Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and record it in a book, that it may be for the time to come, as a witness for ever,

9 P orque este pueblo es rebelde, son hijos mentirosos, hijos que no quisieron oír la ley de Jehová;

that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of Jehovah;

10 q ue dicen a los videntes: «No tengáis visiones», y a los profetas: «No nos profeticéis la verdad, sino decidnos cosas halagüeñas, profetizad mentiras;

who say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things; speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits;

11 d ejad el camino, apartaos de la senda, quitad de nuestra presencia al Santo de Israel.»

get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us!

12 P or tanto, el Santo de Israel dice así: «Porque desechasteis esta palabra y confiasteis en la violencia y en la iniquidad, y en ellas os habéis apoyado,

Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel: Because ye reject this word, and confide in oppression and wilfulness, and depend thereon,

13 p or eso, este pecado os será como grieta que amenaza ruina, extendiéndose en una pared elevada, cuya caída viene de pronto, repentinamente.

therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a towering wall, whose breaking shall come suddenly in an instant.

14 Y se quebrará como se quiebra un vaso de alfarero, que sin misericordia lo hacen pedazos; tanto, que entre los pedazos no se halla un cascote que sirva para traer fuego del hogar o para sacar agua del pozo.»

And he shall break it as the breaking of a potter's vessel, that is broken in pieces unsparingly; and in the pieces of it there shall not be found a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to scoop water out of the cistern.

15 P orque así dijo Jehová, el Señor, el Santo de Israel: «En la conversión y en el reposo seréis salvos; en la quietud y en confianza estará vuestra fortaleza.» Pero no quisisteis,

For thus saith the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel: In returning and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be your strength; but ye would not.

16 s ino que dijisteis: «No, antes huiremos en caballos»; por tanto, vosotros huiréis. «Sobre corceles veloces cabalgaremos»; por tanto, serán veloces vuestros perseguidores.

And ye said, No, but we will flee upon horses,—therefore shall ye flee; and, We will ride upon the swift,—therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

17 U n millar huirá ante la amenaza de uno; ante la amenaza de cinco, huiréis vosotros todos, hasta que quedéis como un mástil en la cumbre de un monte y como una bandera sobre una colina. Promesa de la gracia de Dios a Israel

One thousand at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as a banner on a hill.

18 S in embargo, Jehová esperará para tener piedad de vosotros. A pesar de todo, será exaltado y tendrá de vosotros misericordia, porque Jehová es Dios justo. ¡Bienaventurados todos los que confían en él!

And therefore will Jehovah wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he lift himself up, that he may have mercy upon you; for Jehovah is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

19 C iertamente, pueblo de Sión, que moras en Jerusalén, nunca más llorarás, pues el que tiene misericordia se apiadará de ti y te responderá al oír la voz de tu clamor.

For the people shall dwell in Zion, at Jerusalem. Thou shalt weep no more; he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; as he heareth it, he will answer thee.

20 A unque el Señor os dará pan de congoja y agua de angustia, con todo, tus maestros nunca más te serán quitados, sino que tus ojos verán a tus maestros.

And the Lord will give you the bread of adversity, and the water of oppression; yet thy teachers shall not be hidden any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers.

21 E ntonces tus oídos oirán detrás de ti la palabra que diga: «Éste es el camino, andad por él y no echéis a la mano derecha, ni tampoco os desviéis a la mano izquierda.»

And when ye turn to the right hand or when ye turn to the left, thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it.

22 T endrás por impura la plata que recubre tus esculturas, y el oro que reviste tus imágenes fundidas. Los apartarás como a un trapo asqueroso y les dirás: «¡Salid de aquí!»

And ye shall defile the silver covering of your graven images, and the gold overlaying of your molten images; thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth: Out! shalt thou say unto it.

23 Y dará el Señor lluvia a tu sementera, cuando siembres la tierra, y dará pan abundante y sustancioso como fruto de la tierra. Tus ganados en aquel tiempo serán apacentados en extensos pastizales.

And he will give the rain of thy seed with which thou shalt sow the ground; and bread, the produce of the ground, and it shall be fat and rich. In that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures;

24 T us bueyes y tus asnos que labran la tierra comerán grano limpio, aventado con pala y criba.

and the oxen and the asses that till the ground shall eat salted provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.

25 Y sobre todo monte alto y sobre todo collado elevado habrá ríos y corrientes de aguas el día de la gran matanza, cuando caerán las torres.

And there shall be upon every high mountain and upon every hill that is lifted up, brooks water-courses, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

26 L a luz de la luna será como la luz del sol, y la luz del sol será siete veces mayor, como la luz de siete días, el día cuando vende Jehová la herida de su pueblo y cure la llaga que le causó. El juicio de Jehová sobre Asiria

And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that Jehovah bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the wound of their stroke.

27 ¡ He aquí que el nombre de Jehová viene de lejos! Su rostro viene encendido con llamas de fuego devorador; sus labios, llenos de ira y su lengua como fuego que consume.

Behold, the name of Jehovah cometh from far, burning his anger—a grievous conflagration; his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a consuming fire;

28 S u aliento, cual torrente que inunda, llegará hasta el cuello, para zarandear a las naciones con criba de destrucción; y el freno estará en las quijadas de los pueblos, haciéndolos errar.

and his breath as an overflowing torrent, which reacheth even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction, and a bridle into the jaws of the peoples, that causeth them to go astray.

29 V uestros cánticos resonarán como en la noche en que se celebra la Pascua, y tendréis alegría de corazón, como la del que al son de flauta viene al monte de Jehová, al Fuerte de Israel.

Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a feast is sanctified; and joy of heart, as of one who goeth with a pipe to come unto the mountain of Jehovah, to the Rock of Israel.

30 Y Jehová hará oír su potente voz y hará ver cómo descarga su brazo, con furor en su rostro y llama de fuego consumidor, con torbellino, tempestad y piedras de granizo.

And Jehovah will cause the majesty of his voice to be heard, and will shew the lighting down of his arm with indignation of anger, and a flame of consuming fire, with waterflood and storm and hailstones.

31 P orque Asiria, que hirió con vara, con la voz de Jehová será quebrantada.

For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be broken down: he will smite with the rod.

32 C ada golpe de la vara justiciera que descargue Jehová sobre él, será con panderos y con arpas; y en batalla tumultuosa peleará contra ellos.

And wherever shall pass the appointed staff, which Jehovah shall lay upon him, it shall be with tambours and harps; and with tumultuous battles will he fight with it.

33 P orque el Tofet ya de tiempo está dispuesto y preparado para el rey. Foso profundo y ancho, con pira de fuego y mucha leña. El soplo de Jehová, como torrente de azufre, lo encenderá.

For Topheth is prepared of old; for the king also it is prepared: he hath made it deep and large; its pile is fire and much wood; the breath of Jehovah, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
