1 ¡ Ay de Ariel, de Ariel, la ciudad donde acampó David! Añadid un año a otro, y que las fiestas sigan su curso.

Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city of David's encampment! Add ye year to year; let the feasts come round.

2 M as yo pondré a Ariel en aprietos, y habrá desconsuelo y tristeza. Será para mí un «ariel».

But I will distress Ariel, and there shall be sorrow and sadness; and it shall be unto me as an Ariel.

3 P orque acamparé contra ti, a tu alrededor; te sitiaré con máquinas de asedio y levantaré contra ti baluartes.

And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with watch-posts, and I will raise forts against thee.

4 E ntonces serás derribada y hablarás desde la tierra. Tu habla saldrá del polvo; tu voz, desde la tierra, será como la de un fantasma, y tu habla susurrará desde el polvo.

And thou shalt be brought low, thou shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall come low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

5 L a muchedumbre de tus enemigos será como polvo menudo y la multitud de los fuertes como tamo que pasa. Acontecerá repentinamente, en un momento.

And the multitude of thine enemies shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones as chaff that passeth away; and it shall be in an instant, suddenly.

6 P or Jehová de los ejércitos serás visitada con truenos, con terremotos y con gran ruido, con torbellino y tempestad, y con llama de fuego consumidor.

Thou shalt be visited by Jehovah of hosts with thunder and with earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

7 Y será como un sueño de visión nocturna la multitud de todas las naciones que pelean contra Ariel, y todos los que pelean contra ella y su fortaleza, y los que la ponen en aprietos.

And the multitude of all the nations that war against Ariel, even all that war against her and her fortifications, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

8 L es sucederá como al que tiene hambre y sueña: le parece que come, pero cuando despierta su estómago está vacío; o como al que tiene sed y sueña: le parece que bebe, pero cuando despierta se halla cansado y sediento. Así será la multitud de todas las naciones que pelean contra el monte Sión. Ceguera e hipocresía de Israel

It shall even be as when the hungry dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; and he awaketh, and his soul is empty; or as when the thirsty dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; and he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul craveth: so shall the multitude of all the nations be that war against mount Zion.

9 ¡ Deteneos y maravillaos; ofuscaos y cegaos! ¡Embriagaos, pero no de vino; tambaleaos, pero no por sidra!

Be astounded and astonished, blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

10 P orque Jehová derramó sobre vosotros un espíritu de sopor, cerró los ojos de vuestros profetas y puso un velo sobre las cabezas de vuestros videntes.

For Jehovah hath poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes; the prophets and your chiefs, the seers, hath he covered.

11 Y os será toda visión como las palabras de un libro sellado, el cual, si lo dan al que sabe leer, y le dicen: «Lee ahora esto», él dirá: «No puedo, porque está sellado.»

And the whole vision is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which they give to one that can read, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I cannot, for it is sealed.

12 Y si se da el libro al que no sabe leer, diciéndole: «Lee ahora esto», él dirá: «No sé leer.»

And they give the book to him that cannot read, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I cannot read.

13 D ice, pues, el Señor: «Porque este pueblo se acerca a mí con su boca y con sus labios me honra, pero su corazón está lejos de mí y su temor de mí no es más que un mandamiento de hombres que les ha sido enseñado;

And the Lord saith, Forasmuch as this people draw near with their mouth, and honour me with their lips, but their heart is removed far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught of men;

14 p or eso, he aquí que nuevamente excitaré yo la admiración de este pueblo con un prodigio grande y espantoso, porque perecerá la sabiduría de sus sabios y se desvanecerá la inteligencia de sus entendidos.»

therefore, behold, I will proceed to do marvellously with this people, to do marvellously, even with wonder, and the wisdom of their wise shall perish, and the understanding of their intelligent ones shall be hid.

15 ¡ Ay de los que se esconden de Jehová encubriendo sus planes, y sus obras las hacen en tinieblas, y dicen: «¿Quién nos ve, y quién nos conoce?»

Woe unto them that hide deep, far from Jehovah, their counsel! And their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

16 V uestra perversidad ciertamente será reputada como barro de alfarero. ¿Acaso la obra dirá de su hacedor: «No me hizo»? ¿Dirá la vasija de aquel que la ha formado: «No entiende»? Redención de Israel

your perverseness!—Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay, so that the work should say of him that made it, He made me not; or the thing formed say of him that formed it, He hath no understanding?

17 ¿ No se convertirá, de aquí a muy poco tiempo, el Líbano en un campo fértil, y el campo fértil parecerá un bosque?

Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

18 E n aquel tiempo los sordos oirán las palabras del libro y los ojos de los ciegos verán en medio de la oscuridad y de las tinieblas.

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and, out of obscurity and out of darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see;

19 E ntonces los humildes volverán a alegrarse en Jehová, y aun los más pobres de los hombres se gozarán en el Santo de Israel.

and the meek shall increase their joy in Jehovah, and the needy among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

20 E l violento se habrá acabado y el escarnecedor será exterminado. Serán destruidos todos los que se desvelan por hacer iniquidad,

For the terrible one shall come to nought, and the scorner shall be no more, and all that watch for iniquity shall be cut off,

21 l os que hacen pecar al hombre en palabra, los que arman trampa al que reprende en la puerta y pervierten la causa del justo con falsedad.

that make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and pervert the righteous by futility.

22 P or tanto, Jehová, que redimió a Abraham, dice así a la casa de Jacob: «No será ahora avergonzado Jacob ni su rostro palidecerá,

Therefore thus saith Jehovah who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now be pale;

23 p orque verá a sus hijos, que al considerar la obra de mis manos en medio de ellos, santificarán mi nombre. Santificarán al Santo de Jacob y temerán al Dios de Israel.

for when he seeth his children, the work of my hands, in the midst of him, they shall hallow my name, and hallow the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.

24 Y los extraviados de espíritu aprenderán inteligencia y los murmuradores aprenderán la lección.»

And they that are of erring spirit shall know understanding, and the disobedient shall learn doctrine.
