1 « Rodéate ahora de muros, hija de guerreros, pues nos han sitiado y herirán con vara en la mejilla al juez de Israel.

Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops; he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

2 P ero tú, Belén Efrata, tan pequeña entre las familias de Judá, de ti ha de salir el que será Señor en Israel; sus orígenes se remontan al inicio de los tiempos, a los días de la eternidad.

(And thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall he come forth unto me to be Ruler in Israel: whose goings forth are from of old, from the days of eternity.)

3 P ero los dejará hasta el tiempo que dé a luz la que ha de dar a luz, y el resto de sus hermanos volverá junto a los hijos de Israel.

Therefore will he give them up, until the time when she which travaileth shall have brought forth: and the residue of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

4 Y él se levantará y los apacentará con el poder de Jehová, con la grandeza del nombre de Jehová, su Dios; y morarán seguros, porque ahora será engrandecido hasta los confines de la tierra.

And he shall stand and feed in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God. And they shall abide; for now shall he be great even unto the ends of the earth.

5 É l será nuestra paz. Cuando el asirio venga a nuestra tierra y entre en nuestros palacios, entonces enviaremos contra él siete pastores y ocho hombres principales,

And this shall be Peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes of men.

6 q ue devastarán a espada la tierra de Asiria, a filo de espada, la tierra de Nimrod. Él nos librará del asirio cuando venga contra nuestra tierra y pise nuestras fronteras.

And they shall waste the land of Asshur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof; and he shall deliver from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

7 E l remanente de Jacob será en medio de muchos pueblos como el rocío de Jehová, como lluvias que caen sobre la hierba, las cuales no esperan al hombre, ni aguardan para nada a los hijos de los hombres.

And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, neither waiteth for the sons of men.

8 A simismo el remanente de Jacob será entre las naciones, en medio de muchos pueblos, como el león entre las bestias de la selva, como el cachorro del león entre las manadas de ovejas, el cual pasa, pisotea y arrebata, y no hay presa que de él escape.

And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

9 T u mano se alzará sobre tus enemigos, y todos tus adversarios serán destruidos.

Thy hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

10 » Acontecerá en aquel día, dice Jehová, que haré matar los caballos que posees y haré destruir tus carros.

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots.

11 H aré también destruir las ciudades de tu tierra y arruinaré todas tus fortalezas.

And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and overthrow all thy strongholds.

12 A simismo extirparé de tus manos las hechicerías, y no se hallarán en ti adivinos.

And I will cut off sorceries out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no soothsayers.

13 D estruiré de en medio de ti tus esculturas y tus imágenes, y nunca más te inclinarás ante la obra de tus manos.

Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy statues out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more bow down to the work of thy hands.

14 A rrancaré de en medio de ti tus imágenes de Asera y destruiré tus ciudades.

And I will pluck up thine Asherahs out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy cities.

15 C on ira y con furor me vengaré de las naciones que no obedecieron.»

And I will execute vengeance in anger and in fury upon the nations, such as they have not heard of.
