1 A braham tomó otra mujer, cuyo nombre era Cetura,

And Abraham took another wife named Keturah.

2 l a cual le dio a luz a Zimram, Jocsán, Medán, Madián, Isbac y Súa.

And she bore him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 J ocsán engendró a Seba y a Dedán; e hijos de Dedán fueron Asurim, Letusim y Leumim.

And Jokshan begot Sheba and Dedan; and the sons of Dedan were the Asshurim, and the Letushim, and the Leummim.

4 E hijos de Madián: Efa, Efer, Hanoc, Abida y Elda. Todos estos fueron hijos de Cetura.

And the sons of Midian were Ephah, and Epher, and Enoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were sons of Keturah.

5 A braham dejó a Isaac todo cuanto tenía.

And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac.

6 A los hijos de sus concubinas les dio Abraham regalos; pero, cuando aún vivía, los separó de su hijo Isaac enviándolos hacia las tierras del oriente. Muerte y sepultura de Abraham

And to the sons of the concubines that Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and, while he yet lived, sent them away from Isaac his son, eastward to the east country.

7 L os días que vivió Abraham fueron ciento setenta y cinco años.

And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: a hundred and seventy-five years.

8 E xhaló, pues, el espíritu, y murió Abraham en buena vejez, anciano y lleno de años; y fue reunido a su pueblo.

And Abraham expired and died in a good old age, old and full; and was gathered to his peoples.

9 L o sepultaron Isaac e Ismael, sus hijos, en la cueva de Macpela, en la heredad de Efrón hijo de Zohar, el heteo, que está enfrente de Mamre,

And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which was opposite to Mamre—

10 l a heredad que compró Abraham de los hijos de Het. Allí fueron sepultados Abraham y Sara, su mujer.

the field that Abraham had purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 Y sucedió, después de muerto Abraham, que Dios bendijo a Isaac, su hijo; y habitó Isaac junto al pozo del «Viviente-que-me-ve». Descendientes de Ismael

And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac. And Isaac dwelt at Beer-lahai-roi.

12 É stos son los descendientes de Ismael hijo de Abraham, que le dio a luz Agar, la egipcia, sierva de Sara.

And these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's bondwoman, bore to Abraham.

13 E stos, pues, son los nombres de los hijos de Ismael, nombrados en el orden de su nacimiento: el primogénito de Ismael, Nebaiot; luego Cedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael by their names according to their generations: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

14 M isma, Duma, Massa,

and Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

15 H adar, Tema, Jetur, Nafis y Cedema.

Hadad and Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedmah.

16 É stos son los hijos de Ismael y estos sus nombres, por sus villas y por sus campamentos; doce jefes por sus familias.

These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, in their hamlets and their encampments—twelve princes of their peoples.

17 L os años de la vida de Ismael fueron ciento treinta y siete; exhaló el espíritu Ismael, murió y fue reunido a su pueblo.

And these are the years of the life of Ishmael: a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he expired and died, and was gathered to his peoples.

18 H abitaron los ismaelitas desde Havila hasta Shur, que está enfrente de Egipto, en la vía hacia Asiria; y murió en presencia de todos sus hermanos. Nacimiento de Jacob y Esaú

And they dwelt from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite to Egypt, as one goes towards Assyria. He settled before the face of all his brethren.

19 É stos son los descendientes de Isaac hijo de Abraham: Abraham engendró a Isaac.

And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son. Abraham begot Isaac.

20 I saac tenía cuarenta años cuando tomó por mujer a Rebeca, hija de Betuel, arameo de Padan-aram, hermana de Labán, arameo.

And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebecca as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.

21 I saac oró a Jehová por su mujer, Rebeca, que era estéril; lo aceptó Jehová, y Rebeca concibió.

And Isaac entreated Jehovah for his wife, because she was barren; and Jehovah was entreated of him, and Rebecca his wife conceived.

22 P ero como los hijos luchaban dentro de ella, Rebeca pensó: «Si es así, ¿para qué vivo yo?» Y fue a consultar a Jehová;

And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of Jehovah.

23 y Jehová le respondió: «Dos naciones hay en tu seno, dos pueblos divididos desde tus entrañas. Un pueblo será más fuerte que el otro pueblo, y el mayor servirá al menor.»

And Jehovah said to her, Two nations are in thy womb, And two peoples shall be separated from thy bowels; And one people shall be stronger than the other people, And the elder shall serve the younger.

24 C uando se cumplieron sus días para dar a luz, había gemelos en su vientre.

And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25 E l primero salió rubio; era todo velludo como una pelliza, y le pusieron por nombre Esaú.

And the first came out red—all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

26 D espués salió su hermano, trabada su mano al talón de Esaú, y le pusieron por nombre Jacob. Isaac tenía sesenta años de edad cuando ella los dio a luz. Esaú vende su primogenitura

And after that came his brother out; and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when they were born.

27 C recieron los niños. Esaú fue diestro en la caza, hombre del campo; pero Jacob era hombre tranquilo, que habitaba en tiendas.

And the boys grew, and Esau became a man skilled in hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob was a homely man, dwelling in tents.

28 Y amó Isaac a Esaú, porque comía de su caza; pero Rebeca amaba a Jacob.

And Isaac loved Esau, because venison was to his taste; and Rebecca loved Jacob.

29 G uisó Jacob un potaje; y volviendo Esaú del campo, cansado,

And Jacob had cooked a dish; and Esau came from the field, and he was faint.

30 d ijo a Jacob: —Te ruego que me des a comer de ese guiso rojo, pues estoy muy cansado. (Por eso fue llamado Edom.)

And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with the red—the red thing there, for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom.

31 J acob respondió: —Véndeme en este día tu primogenitura.

And Jacob said, Sell me now thy birthright.

32 E ntonces dijo Esaú: —Me estoy muriendo, ¿para qué, pues, me servirá la primogenitura?

And Esau said, Behold, I am going to die, and of what use can the birthright be to me?

33 D ijo Jacob: —Júramelo en este día. Él se lo juró, y vendió a Jacob su primogenitura.

And Jacob said, Swear unto me now. And he swore unto him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.

34 E ntonces Jacob dio a Esaú pan y del guisado de las lentejas; él comió y bebió, se levantó y se fue. Así menospreció Esaú la primogenitura.

And Jacob gave Esau bread and the dish of lentils; and he ate and drank, and rose up and went away. Thus Esau despised the birthright.
