1 P or lo demás, hermanos, os rogamos y exhortamos en el Señor Jesús que, de la manera que aprendisteis de nosotros cómo os conviene conduciros y agradar a Dios, así abundéis más y más.

For the rest, then, brethren, we beg you and exhort you in Lord Jesus, even as ye have received from us how ye ought to walk and please God, even as ye also do walk, that ye would abound still more.

2 Y a sabéis las instrucciones que os dimos por el Señor Jesús.

For ye know what charges we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

3 L a voluntad de Dios es vuestra santificación: que os apartéis de fornicación;

For this is will of God, your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication;

4 q ue cada uno de vosotros sepa tener su propia esposa en santidad y honor,

that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour,

5 n o en pasión desordenada, como los gentiles que no conocen a Dios;

(not in passionate desire, even as the nations who know not God,)

6 q ue ninguno agravie ni engañe en nada a su hermano, porque, como ya os hemos dicho y testificado, el Señor es vengador de todo esto.

not overstepping the rights of and wronging his brother in the matter, because the Lord the avenger of all these things, even as we also told you before, and have fully testified.

7 D ios no nos ha llamado a inmundicia, sino a santificación.

For God has not called us to uncleanness, but in sanctification.

8 A sí que, el que desecha esto, no desecha a hombre, sino a Dios, que también nos dio su Espíritu Santo.

He therefore that disregards, disregards, not man, but God, who has given also his Holy Spirit to you.

9 A cerca del amor fraternal no tenéis necesidad de que os escriba, porque vosotros mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis unos a otros;

Now concerning brotherly love ye have no need that we should write to you, for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

10 y también lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia. Pero os rogamos, hermanos, que abundéis en ello más y más.

For also ye do this towards all the brethren in the whole of Macedonia; but we exhort you, brethren, to abound still more,

11 P rocurad tener tranquilidad, ocupándoos en vuestros negocios y trabajando con vuestras manos de la manera que os hemos mandado,

and to seek earnestly to be quiet and mind your own affairs, and work with your hands, even as we charged you,

12 a fin de que os conduzcáis honradamente para con los de afuera y no tengáis necesidad de nada. La venida del Señor

that ye may walk reputably towards those without, and may have need of no one.

13 T ampoco queremos, hermanos, que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, para que no os entristezcáis como los otros que no tienen esperanza.

But we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are fallen asleep, to the end that ye be not grieved even as also the rest who have no hope.

14 S i creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también traerá Dios con Jesús a los que durmieron en él.

For if we believe that Jesus has died and has risen again, so also God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.

15 P or lo cual os decimos esto en palabra del Señor: que nosotros que vivimos, que habremos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, no precederemos a los que durmieron.

(For this we say to you in word of Lord, that we, the living, who remain to the coming of the Lord, are in no way to anticipate those who have fallen asleep;

16 E l Señor mismo, con voz de mando, con voz de arcángel y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo. Entonces, los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero.

for the Lord himself, with an assembling shout, with archangel's voice and with trump of God, shall descend from heaven; and the dead in Christ shall rise first;

17 L uego nosotros, los que vivimos, los que hayamos quedado, seremos arrebatados juntamente con ellos en las nubes para recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.

then we, the living who remain, shall be caught up together with them in clouds, to meet the Lord in air; and thus we shall be always with Lord.

18 P or tanto, alentaos los unos a los otros con estas palabras.

So encourage one another with these words.)
