1 T ambién les dijo: —De cierto os digo que algunos de los que están aquí no gustarán la muerte hasta que hayan visto que el reino de Dios ha venido con poder. La transfiguración

And he said to them, Verily I say unto you, There are some of those standing here that shall not taste death until they shall have seen the kingdom of God come in power.

2 S eis días después, Jesús tomó a Pedro, a Jacobo y a Juan, y los llevó aparte solos a un monte alto. Allí se transfiguró delante de ellos.

And after six days Jesus takes with Peter and James and John, and takes them up on a high mountain by themselves apart. And he was transfigured before them:

3 S us vestidos se volvieron resplandecientes, muy blancos, como la nieve, tanto que ningún lavador en la tierra los puede dejar tan blancos.

and his garments became shining, exceeding white, such as fuller on earth could not whiten.

4 Y vieron a Elías y a Moisés que hablaban con Jesús.

And there appeared to them Elias with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.

5 E ntonces Pedro dijo a Jesús: —¡Maestro, bueno es para nosotros que estemos aquí! Hagamos tres enramadas: una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías.

And Peter answering says to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good that we should be here; and let us make three tabernacles, for thee one, and for Moses one, and for Elias one.

6 N o sabía lo que hablaba, pues estaban asustados.

For he knew not what he should say, for they were filled with fear.

7 E ntonces vino una nube que les hizo sombra, y desde la nube una voz que decía: «Éste es mi Hijo amado; a él oíd.»

And there came a cloud overshadowing them, and there came a voice out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

8 Y luego, cuando miraron, no vieron a nadie más con ellos, sino a Jesús solo.

And suddenly having looked around, they no longer saw any one, but Jesus alone with themselves.

9 M ientras descendían del monte, les mandó que a nadie dijeran lo que habían visto, hasta que el Hijo del hombre hubiera resucitado de los muertos.

And as they descended from the mountain, he charged them that they should relate to no one what they had seen, unless when the Son of man should be risen from among dead.

10 P or eso guardaron la palabra entre sí, discutiendo qué sería aquello de resucitar de los muertos.

And they kept that saying, questioning among themselves, what rising from among dead was.

11 L e preguntaron, diciendo: —¿Por qué dicen los escribas que es necesario que Elías venga primero?

And they asked him saying, Why do the scribes say that Elias must first have come?

12 R espondiendo él, les dijo: —Elías a la verdad vendrá primero y restaurará todas las cosas. Pero ¿no dice la Escritura que el Hijo del hombre debe padecer mucho y ser despreciado?

And he answering said to them, Elias indeed, having first come, restores all things; and how is it written of the Son of man that he must suffer much, and be set at nought:

13 P ero os digo que Elías ya vino, y le hicieron todo lo que quisieron, como está escrito de él. Jesús sana a un muchacho endemoniado

but I say unto you that Elias also is come, and they have done to him whatever they would, as it is written of him.

14 C uando llegó a donde estaban los discípulos, vio una gran multitud alrededor de ellos, y escribas que discutían con ellos.

And when he came to the disciples he saw a great crowd around them, and scribes disputing against them.

15 E n seguida toda la gente, viéndolo, se asombró; y corriendo a él, lo saludaron.

And immediately all the crowd seeing him were amazed, and running to, saluted him.

16 É l les preguntó: —¿Qué discutís con ellos?

And he asked them, What do ye question with them about?

17 R espondiendo uno de la multitud, dijo: —Maestro, traje a ti mi hijo, que tiene un espíritu mudo,

And one out of the crowd answered him, Teacher, I brought to thee my son, who has a dumb spirit;

18 e l cual, dondequiera que lo toma, lo sacude; echa espumarajos, cruje los dientes y se va secando. Dije a tus discípulos que lo echaran fuera, pero no pudieron.

and wheresoever it seizes him it tears him, and he foams and gnashes his teeth, and he is withering away. And I spoke to thy disciples, that they might cast him out, and they could not.

19 R espondiendo él, les dijo: —¡Generación incrédula! ¿Hasta cuándo he de estar con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo os he de soportar? Traédmelo.

But he answering them says, O unbelieving generation! how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him to me.

20 S e lo trajeron, y cuando el espíritu vio a Jesús, sacudió con violencia al muchacho, que cayó al suelo revolcándose y echando espumarajos.

And they brought him to him. And seeing him the spirit immediately tore him; and falling upon the earth he rolled foaming.

21 J esús preguntó al padre: —¿Cuánto tiempo hace que le sucede esto? Él dijo: —Desde niño.

And he asked his father, How long a time is it that it has been like this with him? And he said, From childhood;

22 Y muchas veces lo arroja al fuego o al agua, para matarlo; pero si puedes hacer algo, ten misericordia de nosotros y ayúdanos.

and often it has cast him both into fire and into waters that it might destroy him: but if thou couldst anything, be moved with pity on us, and help us.

23 J esús le dijo: —Si puedes creer, al que cree todo le es posible.

And Jesus said to him, The 'if thou couldst' is believe: all things are possible to him that believes.

24 I nmediatamente el padre del muchacho clamó y dijo: —Creo; ayuda mi incredulidad.

And immediately the father of the young child crying out said, I believe, help mine unbelief.

25 C uando Jesús vio que la multitud se agolpaba, reprendió al espíritu impuro, diciéndole: —Espíritu mudo y sordo, yo te mando que salgas de él y no entres más en él.

But Jesus, seeing that crowd was running up together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26 E ntonces el espíritu, clamando y sacudiéndolo con violencia, salió; y él quedó como muerto, de modo que muchos decían: «Está muerto.»

And having cried out and torn much, he came out; and he became as if dead, so that the most said, He is dead.

27 P ero Jesús, tomándolo de la mano, lo enderezó; y se levantó.

But Jesus, having taken hold of him by the hand, lifted him up, and he arose.

28 C uando él entró en casa, sus discípulos le preguntaron aparte: —¿Por qué nosotros no pudimos echarlo fuera?

And when he was entered into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Wherefore could not we cast him out?

29 Y les dijo: —Este género con nada puede salir, sino con oración y ayuno. Jesús anuncia otra vez su muerte

And he said to them, This kind can go out by nothing but by prayer and fasting.

30 S aliendo de allí, caminaron por Galilea; y no quería que nadie lo supiera,

And going forth from thence they went through Galilee; and he would not that any one knew it;

31 p ues enseñaba a sus discípulos, y les decía: —El Hijo del hombre será entregado en manos de hombres, y lo matarán; pero, después de muerto, resucitará al tercer día.

for he taught his disciples and said to them, The Son of man is delivered into men's hands, and they shall kill him; and having been killed, after three days he shall rise again.

32 P ero ellos no entendían esta palabra, y tenían miedo de preguntarle. ¿Quién es el mayor?

But they understood not the saying, and feared to ask him.

33 L legó a Capernaúm y, cuando estuvo en casa, les preguntó: —¿Qué discutíais entre vosotros por el camino?

And he came to Capernaum, and being in the house, he asked them, Of what were ye reasoning by the way?

34 P ero ellos callaron, porque por el camino habían discutido entre sí sobre quién había de ser el mayor.

And they remained silent, for by the way they had been reasoning with one another who greatest.

35 E ntonces él se sentó, llamó a los doce y les dijo: —Si alguno quiere ser el primero, será el último de todos y el servidor de todos.

And sitting down he called the twelve; and he says to them, If any one would be first, he shall be last of all, and minister of all.

36 Y tomó a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos y, tomándolo en sus brazos, les dijo:

And taking a little child he set it in their midst, and having taken it in his arms he said to them,

37 — El que reciba en mi nombre a un niño como éste, me recibe a mí; y el que a mí me recibe, no me recibe a mí sino al que me envió. El que no está contra nosotros, por nosotros está

Whosoever shall receive one of such little children in my name, receives me; and whosoever shall receive me, does not receive me, but him who sent me.

38 J uan le respondió diciendo: —Maestro, hemos visto a uno que en tu nombre echaba fuera demonios, pero él no nos sigue, y se lo prohibimos porque no nos seguía.

And John answered him saying, Teacher, we saw some one casting out demons in thy name, who does not follow us, and we forbad him, because he does not follow us.

39 P ero Jesús dijo: —No se lo prohibáis, porque ninguno hay que haga milagro en mi nombre, que luego pueda hablar mal de mí,

But Jesus said, Forbid him not; for there is no one who shall do a miracle in my name, and be able soon to speak ill of me;

40 p ues el que no está contra nosotros, por nosotros está.

for he who is not against us is for us.

41 Y cualquiera que os dé un vaso de agua en mi nombre, porque sois de Cristo, de cierto os digo que no perderá su recompensa. Ocasiones de caer

For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in name, because ye are Christ's, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

42 A cualquiera que haga tropezar a uno de estos pequeñitos que creen en mí, mejor le sería que se le atara una piedra de molino al cuello y se le arrojara al mar.

And whosoever shall be a snare to one of the little ones who believe, it were better for him if a millstone were hung about his neck, and he cast into the sea.

43 S i tu mano te es ocasión de caer, córtala, porque mejor te es entrar en la vida manco, que teniendo dos manos ir al infierno, al fuego que no puede ser apagado,

And if thy hand serve as a snare to thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having thy two hands to go away into hell, into the fire unquenchable;

44 d onde el gusano de ellos no muere y el fuego nunca se apaga.

45 Y si tu pie te es ocasión de caer, córtalo, porque mejor te es entrar en la vida cojo, que teniendo dos pies ser arrojado al infierno, al fuego que no puede ser apagado,

And if thy foot serve as a snare to thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life lame, than having thy two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire unquenchable;

46 d onde el gusano de ellos no muere y el fuego nunca se apaga.

47 Y si tu ojo te es ocasión de caer, sácalo, porque mejor te es entrar en el reino de Dios con un ojo, que teniendo dos ojos ser arrojado al infierno,

And if thine eye serve as a snare to thee, cast it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire,

48 d onde el gusano de ellos no muere y el fuego nunca se apaga.

where their worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched.

49 T odos serán salados con fuego, y todo sacrificio será salado con sal.

For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.

50 B uena es la sal; pero si la sal se hace insípida, ¿con qué la sazonaréis? Tened sal en vosotros mismos, y vivid en paz los unos con los otros.

Salt good, but if the salt is become saltless, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.
