1 E n cuanto a la ayuda para los santos, es por demás que yo os escriba,

For concerning the ministration which for the saints, it is superfluous my writing to you.

2 p ues conozco vuestra buena voluntad, de la cual yo me glorío entre los de Macedonia, pues les he dicho que Acaya está preparada desde el año pasado; y vuestra diligencia ha estimulado a la mayoría.

For I know your readiness, which I boast of as respects you to Macedonians, that Achaia is prepared since a year ago, and the zeal of you has stimulated the mass.

3 P ero he enviado a los hermanos para que nuestro motivo de orgullo respecto de vosotros no sea vano en esta parte; para que, como lo he dicho, estéis preparados;

But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made void in this respect, in order that, as I have said, ye may be prepared;

4 n o sea que si van conmigo algunos macedonios y os hallan desprevenidos, nos avergoncemos nosotros, por no decir vosotros, de esta nuestra confianza.

lest haply, if Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we, that we say not ye, may be put to shame in this confidence.

5 P or tanto, consideré necesario exhortar a los hermanos que fueran primero a vosotros y prepararan primero vuestra generosidad antes prometida, para que esté lista como muestra de generosidad y no como de exigencia nuestra. Exhortación a la generosidad

I thought it necessary therefore to beg the brethren that they would come to you, and complete beforehand your fore-announced blessing, that this may be ready thus as blessing, and not as got out of you.

6 P ero esto digo: El que siembra escasamente, también segará escasamente; y el que siembra generosamente, generosamente también segará.

But this, he that sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that sows in blessing shall reap also in blessing:

7 C ada uno dé como propuso en su corazón: no con tristeza ni por obligación, porque Dios ama al dador alegre.

each according as he is purposed in his heart; not grievingly, or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

8 Y poderoso es Dios para hacer que abunde en vosotros toda gracia, a fin de que, teniendo siempre en todas las cosas todo lo necesario, abundéis para toda buena obra;

But God is able to make every gracious gift abound towards you, that, having in every way always all-sufficiency, ye may abound to every good work:

9 c omo está escrito: «Repartió, dio a los pobres, su justicia permanece para siempre.»

according as it is written, He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor, his righteousness remains for ever.

10 Y el que da semilla al que siembra y pan al que come, proveerá y multiplicará vuestra sementera y aumentará los frutos de vuestra justicia,

Now he that supplies seed to the sower and bread for eating shall supply and make abundant your sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness:

11 p ara que seáis ricos en todo para toda generosidad, la cual produce, por medio de nosotros, acción de gracias a Dios,

enriched in every way unto all free-hearted liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to God.

12 p orque la entrega de este servicio no solamente suple lo que a los santos falta, sino que también abunda en muchas acciones de gracias a Dios.

Because the ministration of this service is not only filling up the measure of what is lacking to the saints, but also abounding by many thanksgivings to God;

13 E llos, por la experiencia de este servicio glorifican a Dios por la obediencia que profesáis al evangelio de Cristo, y por la generosidad de vuestra contribución para ellos y para todos.

they glorifying God through the proof of this ministration, by reason of your subjection, by profession, to the glad tidings of the Christ, and your free-hearted liberality in communicating towards them and towards all;

14 D e igual modo, en su oración a favor de vosotros, os aman a causa de la superabundante gracia de Dios en vosotros.

and in their supplication for you, full of ardent desire for you, on account of the exceeding grace of God upon you.

15 ¡ Gracias a Dios por su don inefable!
