1 H abló Dios todas estas palabras:

And God spoke all these words, saying,

2 « Yo soy Jehová, tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre.

I am Jehovah thy God, who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 » No tendrás dioses ajenos delante de mí.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 » No te harás imagen ni ninguna semejanza de lo que esté arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra.

Thou shalt not make thyself any graven image, or any form of what is in the heavens above, or what is in the earth beneath, or what is in the waters under the earth:

5 N o te inclinarás a ellas ni las honrarás, porque yo soy Jehová, tu Dios, fuerte, celoso, que visito la maldad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen,

thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, Jehovah thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and to the fourth of them that hate me,

6 y hago misericordia por millares a los que me aman y guardan mis mandamientos.

and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

7 » No tomarás el nombre de Jehová, tu Dios, en vano, porque no dará por inocente Jehová al que tome su nombre en vano.

Thou shalt not idly utter the name of Jehovah thy God; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that idly uttereth his name.

8 » Acuérdate del sábado para santificarlo.

Remember the sabbath day to hallow it.

9 S eis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra,

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;

10 p ero el séptimo día es de reposo para Jehová, tu Dios; no hagas en él obra alguna, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu criada, ni tu bestia, ni el extranjero que está dentro de tus puertas,

but the seventh day is the sabbath of Jehovah thy God: thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy bondman, nor thy handmaid, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.

11 p orque en seis días hizo Jehová los cielos y la tierra, el mar, y todas las cosas que en ellos hay, y reposó en el séptimo día; por tanto, Jehová bendijo el sábado y lo santificó.

For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 » Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tus días se alarguen en la tierra que Jehová, tu Dios, te da.

Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be prolonged in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

13 » No matarás.

Thou shalt not kill.

14 » No cometerás adulterio.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 » No hurtarás.

Thou shalt not steal.

16 » No dirás contra tu prójimo falso testimonio.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 » No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo: no codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, ni su siervo, ni su criada, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni cosa alguna de tu prójimo.» El terror del pueblo

Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's wife, nor his bondman, nor his handmaid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour's.

18 T odo el pueblo observaba el estruendo, los relámpagos, el sonido de la bocina y el monte que humeaba. Al ver esto, el pueblo tuvo miedo y se mantuvo alejado.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the flames, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw, they trembled, and stood afar off,

19 E ntonces dijeron a Moisés: —Habla tú con nosotros, y nosotros oiremos; pero no hable Dios con nosotros, para que no muramos.

and said to Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20 M oisés respondió al pueblo: —No temáis, pues Dios vino para probaros, para que su temor esté ante vosotros y no pequéis.

And Moses said to the people, Fear not; for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not.

21 Y mientras el pueblo se mantenía alejado, Moisés se acercó a la oscuridad en la cual estaba Dios.

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the obscurity where God was.

22 J ehová dijo a Moisés: «Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: “Vosotros habéis visto que os he hablado desde el cielo.

And Jehovah said to Moses, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: Ye have seen that I have spoken with you from the heavens.

23 N o os hagáis dioses de plata ni dioses de oro para ponerlos junto a mí.

Ye shall not make beside me gods of silver, and ye shall not make to you gods of gold.

24 M e harás un altar de tierra, y sacrificarás sobre él tus holocaustos y tus ofrendas de paz, tus ovejas y tus vacas. En todo lugar donde yo haga que se recuerde mi nombre, vendré a ti y te bendeciré.

An altar of earth shalt thou make unto me, and shalt sacrifice on it thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep and thine oxen: in all places where I shall make my name to be remembered, I will come unto thee, and bless thee.

25 Y si me haces un altar de piedras, no las labres de cantería, porque si alzas tus herramientas sobre él, lo profanarás.

And if thou make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone; for if thou lift up thy sharp tool upon it, thou hast profaned it.

26 T ampoco subirás por gradas a mi altar, para que tu desnudez no se descubra junto a él.”

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
