1 H abló Eliseo con aquella mujer a cuyo hijo él había revivido, y le dijo: «Levántate, vete tú y toda tu casa a vivir donde puedas, porque Jehová ha llamado al hambre, la cual vendrá sobre la tierra por siete años.»

And Elisha had spoken to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, Rise up and go, thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn; for Jehovah has called for a famine, and it shall also come upon the land for seven years.

2 E ntonces la mujer se levantó e hizo como el varón de Dios le dijo: ella y su familia se fueron a vivir durante siete años a tierra de los filisteos.

And the woman rose up, and did according to the saying of the man of God, and went, she and her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3 C uando pasaron los siete años, la mujer volvió de la tierra de los filisteos, y fue a implorar al rey por su casa y por sus tierras.

And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines; and she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land.

4 E l rey estaba hablando con Giezi, criado del varón de Dios, y le decía: «Te ruego que me cuentes todas las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo.»

And the king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha has done.

5 Y mientras Giezi le contaba al rey cómo había revivido a un muerto, llegó la mujer a cuyo hijo él había revivido, para implorar al rey por su casa y por sus tierras. Entonces dijo Giezi: «Rey y señor mío, ésta es la mujer y éste es su hijo, al cual Eliseo revivió.»

And it came to pass as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

6 E l rey preguntó a la mujer y ella se lo contó. Entonces el rey le ordenó a un oficial: «Haz que le devuelvan todas las cosas que eran suyas y todos los frutos de sus tierras, desde el día que dejó el país hasta ahora.» Ben-adad y Hazael

And the king asked the woman, and she told him. And the king appointed a certain chamberlain, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the revenue of the land since the day that she left the country even until now.

7 L uego Eliseo se fue a Damasco. Ben-adad, rey de Siria, estaba enfermo, y le avisaron: «El varón de Dios ha venido aquí.»

And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-Hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him saying, The man of God is come hither.

8 E ntonces el rey dijo a Hazael: «Toma en tus manos un presente, ve a recibir al varón de Dios y consulta por medio de él a Jehová, preguntando: “¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?”»

And the king said to Hazael, Take a present in thy hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Jehovah by him, saying, Shall I recover from this disease?

9 T omó, pues, Hazael en sus manos un presente de entre los bienes de Damasco, cargados en cuarenta camellos, y fue a su encuentro. Al llegar, se detuvo ante él y le dijo: —Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado a preguntarte: “¿Sanaré de esta enfermedad?”

And Hazael went to meet him, and took with him a present, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden; and he came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-Hadad king of Syria has sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover from this disease?

10 E liseo le dijo: —Ve y dile: “Seguramente sanarás.” Sin embargo, Jehová me ha revelado que ciertamente morirá.

And Elisha said to him, Go, say to him, Thou wilt certainly recover. But Jehovah has shewn me that he shall certainly die.

11 E l varón de Dios lo miró fijamente y estuvo así hasta hacer que se ruborizara. Luego el varón de Dios se echó a llorar.

And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed; and the man of God wept.

12 E ntonces Hazael le preguntó: —¿Por qué llora mi señor? Él respondió: —Porque sé el mal que vas a hacer a los hijos de Israel: Pegarás fuego a sus fortalezas, a sus jóvenes matarás a espada, estrellarás a sus niños y abrirás el vientre a las mujeres que estén encintas.

And Hazael said, Why does my lord weep? And he said, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do to the children of Israel: their strongholds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou kill with the sword, and wilt dash in pieces their children, and rip up their women with child.

13 H azael dijo: —Pues, ¿qué es tu siervo, este perro, para que haga tan grandes cosas? Eliseo respondió: —Jehová me ha revelado que tú serás rey de Siria.

And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha said, Jehovah has shewn me that thou wilt be king over Syria.

14 H azael se fue y se presentó ante su señor, el cual le preguntó: —¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo? Él respondió: —Me dijo que seguramente sanarás.

And he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, What did Elisha say to thee? And he said, He told me thou wouldest certainly recover.

15 P ero al día siguiente tomó un paño, lo metió en agua y lo puso sobre el rostro de Ben-adad, el cual murió. En su lugar reinó Hazael. Reinado de Joram de Judá

And it came to pass the next day, that he took the coverlet and dipped in water, and spread it over his face, so that he died; and Hazael reigned in his stead.

16 E n el quinto año de Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Joram hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá. Hasta entonces Josafat había sido rey de Judá.

And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, began to reign.

17 T enía Joram treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18 A nduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como había hecho la casa de Acab, porque una hija de Acab fue su mujer, así que hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for the daughter of Ahab was his wife; and he did evil in the sight of Jehovah.

19 C on todo, Jehová no quiso destruir a Judá, por amor a David, su siervo, pues había prometido darles una lámpara a él y a sus hijos para siempre.

But Jehovah would not destroy Judah, for David his servant's sake, as he had promised him to give him always a lamp for his sons.

20 E n tiempos de Joram se rebeló Edom contra el dominio de Judá y proclamaron su propio rey.

In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they set a king over themselves.

21 J oram, con todos sus carros, pasó por tanto a Zair. Se levantó por la noche y atacó a los de Edom, los cuales lo habían sitiado junto con los capitanes de los carros, pero el pueblo huyó a sus tiendas.

And Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him; and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites who had surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled into their tents.

22 N o obstante, Edom se liberó del dominio de Judá, hasta hoy. En aquel tiempo también se rebeló Libna.

But the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

23 L os demás hechos de Joram y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

And the rest of the acts of Joram and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

24 J oram durmió con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David. En su lugar reinó Ocozías, su hijo. Reinado de Ocozías de Judá

And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

25 E n el año doce de Joram hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Ocozías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.

In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, began to reign.

26 O cozías tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó un año en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Atalía, hija de Omri, rey de Israel.

Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

27 A nduvo en el camino de la casa de Acab, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, como la casa de Acab, porque era yerno de la casa de Acab.

And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of Jehovah, like the house of Ahab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

28 P artió con Joram hijo de Acab para hacer la guerra a Hazael, rey de Siria, en Ramot de Galaad, pero los sirios hirieron a Joram.

And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael the king of Syria at Ramoth-Gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

29 E l rey Joram regresó a Jezreel para curarse de las heridas que los sirios le hicieron frente a Ramot, cuando peleaba contra Hazael, rey de Siria. Como Joram hijo de Acab estaba enfermo, Ocozías hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, descendió a visitarlo en Jezreel.

And king Joram returned to be healed in Jizreel of the wounds that the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab at Jizreel, for he was sick.
