1 V ino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 « Hijo de hombre, vuelve tu rostro hacia Jerusalén, derrama palabras sobre los santuarios y profetiza contra la tierra de Israel.

Son of man, set thy face against Jerusalem, and drop against the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,

3 D irás a la tierra de Israel: “Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo estoy contra ti, y sacaré mi espada de su vaina y cortaré de ti al justo y al impío.

and say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and I will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.

4 Y por cuanto he de cortar de ti al justo y al impío, por eso mi espada saldrá de su vaina contra todo mortal, desde el sur hasta el norte.

Seeing that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh, from the south to the north;

5 Y sabrá todo mortal que yo, Jehová, saqué mi espada de su vaina; no la envainaré más.”

and all flesh shall know that I Jehovah have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath: it shall not return any more.

6 Y tú, hijo de hombre, gime con quebranto de tus costados y con amargura; gime ante los ojos de ellos.

Sigh then, thou son of man; with breaking of the loins, and with bitterness sigh before their eyes.

7 Y cuando te digan: “¿Por qué gimes?”, dirás: “Por una noticia que cuando llegue hará que desfallezca todo corazón, y toda mano se debilitará, se angustiará todo espíritu y como agua se debilitará toda rodilla.” He aquí que viene, y se cumplirá, dice Jehová, el Señor.»

And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore dost thou sigh? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall languish, and all knees shall melt into water: behold, it cometh; it is here, saith the Lord Jehovah.

8 V ino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

9 « Hijo de hombre, profetiza y di: “Así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: »”¡La espada, la espada está afilada y bien pulida!

Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished.

10 P ara degollar víctimas está afilada; pulida está para que relumbre. ¿Habremos de alegrarnos, cuando al cetro de mi hijo ha despreciado como a un palo cualquiera?

It is sharpened for sore slaughter, it is furbished that it may glitter. Shall we then make mirth, The sceptre of my son contemneth all wood?

11 Y la dio a pulir para tenerla a mano; la espada está afilada, y está pulida para entregarla en manos del matador.”

And he hath given it to be furbished that it may be handled. The sword,—it is sharpened, and it is furbished to give it into the hand of the slayer.

12 C lama y lamenta, hijo de hombre, porque ésta será sobre mi pueblo, será ella sobre todos los gobernantes de Israel: caerán ellos a espada juntamente con mi pueblo. ¡Golpéate, pues, el muslo!

Cry and howl, son of man; for it shall be against my people, it shall be against all the princes of Israel: they are given up to the sword along with my people: smite therefore upon the thigh.

13 P orque es una prueba; pero ¿qué, si la espada desprecia aun al cetro? Él no será más, dice Jehová el Señor.

For the trial; and what if even the contemning sceptre shall be no ? saith the Lord Jehovah.

14 » Tú, pues, hijo de hombre, profetiza y bate una mano contra otra. Duplíquese y triplíquese el furor de la espada homicida: ésta es la espada de la gran matanza, que los traspasará,

And thou, son of man, prophesy, and smite thy hands together; for the sword shall be doubled the third time: it is the sword of the slain, the sword that hath slain the great one, which encompasseth them privily.

15 p ara que el corazón desmaye y los estragos se multipliquen; en todas las puertas de ellos he puesto espanto de espada. ¡Ah! dispuesta está para que relumbre y preparada para degollar.

In order that the heart may melt, and the stumbling-blocks be multiplied, I have set the threatening sword against all their gates: ah! it is made glittering, it is whetted for the slaughter.

16 ¡ Corta a la derecha, hiere a la izquierda, adonde quiera que te vuelvas!

Gather up, go to the right hand, turn thee, go to the left, whithersoever thy face is appointed.

17 Y yo también batiré mano contra mano, y haré reposar mi ira. »Yo, Jehová, he hablado.»

And I myself will smite my hands together, and I will satisfy my fury: I Jehovah have spoken.

18 V ino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

19 « Tú, hijo de hombre, traza dos caminos por donde venga la espada del rey de Babilonia. De una misma tierra salgan ambos, y al comienzo de cada camino pon una señal que indique la ciudad adonde va.

And thou, son of man, set thee two ways, by which the sword of the king of Babylon may come—out of one land shall they both come—and make thee a signpost, make it at the head of the way to the city.

20 E l camino señalarás por donde venga la espada a Rabá, de los hijos de Amón, y a Judá, contra Jerusalén, la ciudad fortificada.

Appoint a way for the coming of the sword to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah at the fenced of Jerusalem.

21 P orque el rey de Babilonia se ha detenido en una encrucijada, al principio de los dos caminos, para usar de adivinación; ha sacudido las saetas, consultó a sus ídolos, miró un hígado.

For the king of Babylon standeth at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shaketh arrows, he inquireth of the teraphim, he looketh in the liver.

22 L a adivinación señaló a su mano derecha, sobre Jerusalén, para dar la orden de ataque, para dar comienzo a la matanza, para levantar la voz en grito de guerra, para poner arietes contra las puertas, para levantar terraplenes y construir torres de sitio.

In his right hand is the lot of Jerusalem to appoint battering-rams, to open the mouth for bloodshed, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering-rams against the gates, to cast mounds, to build siege-towers.

23 M as para ellos esto será como adivinación mentirosa, ya que les ha hecho solemnes juramentos; pero él trae a la memoria la maldad de ellos, para apresarlos.

And this shall be a false divination in their sight, for them that have sworn oaths; but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.

24 » Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: “Por cuanto habéis hecho recordar vuestras maldades, manifestando vuestras traiciones, descubriendo vuestros pecados en todas vuestras obras; por cuanto habéis sido recordados, seréis entregados en su mano.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye make your iniquity to be remembered in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

25 R especto a ti, profano e impío príncipe de Israel, cuyo día ya ha llegado, el tiempo de la consumación de la maldad,

And thou, profane, wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, at the time of the iniquity of the end,

26 a sí ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: ¡Depón el turbante, quita la corona! ¡Esto no será más así! Sea exaltado lo bajo y humillado lo alto.

—thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Remove the mitre and take off the crown; what is shall be no. Exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high.

27 ¡ A ruina, a ruina, a ruina lo reduciré, y esto no será más, hasta que venga aquel a quien corresponde el derecho, y yo se lo entregaré!” Juicio contra los amonitas

I will overturn, overturn, overturn it! This also shall be no, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it.

28 » Y tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza, y di: “Así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor, acerca de los hijos de Amón y de su oprobio.” Dirás, pues: “¡La espada, la espada está desenvainada para degollar, para consumir está pulida con resplandor!

And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus speaketh the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and thou shalt say, A sword, a sword is drawn; for the slaughter is it furbished, that it may consume, that it may glitter:

29 T e profetizan vanidad, te adivinan mentira, para que la emplees sobre los cuellos de los malos sentenciados a muerte, cuyo día vino en el tiempo de la consumación de la maldad.

whilst they see vanity for thee, whilst they divine a lie unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are slain, whose day is come at the time of the iniquity of the end.

30 ¿ La volveré a su vaina? En el lugar donde te criaste, en la tierra donde has vivido, te juzgaré

Restore to its sheath. I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy birth.

31 y derramaré sobre ti mi ira; el fuego de mi enojo haré encender sobre ti y te entregaré en mano de hombres temerarios, artífices de destrucción.

And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow upon thee the fire of my wrath, and give thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy.

32 S erás pasto del fuego, se empapará la tierra con tu sangre; no habrá más memoria de ti, porque yo, Jehová, he hablado.”»

Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt not be remembered: for I Jehovah have spoken.
