1 T res años pasaron sin guerra entre los sirios e Israel.

And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

2 A conteció al tercer año, que Josafat, rey de Judá, descendió a visitar al rey de Israel.

And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

3 Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos: —¿No sabéis que Ramot de Galaad es nuestra y nosotros no hemos hecho nada para tomarla de manos del rey de Siria?

And the king of Israel said to his servants, Do ye know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we keep quiet without taking it out of the hand of the king of Syria?

4 L uego preguntó a Josafat: —¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad? —Yo soy como tú, mi pueblo como tu pueblo y mis caballos como tus caballos —respondió Josafat al rey de Israel.

And he said to Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth-Gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

5 D ijo luego Josafat al rey de Israel: —Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.

And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, this day of the word of Jehovah.

6 E ntonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, unos cuatrocientos hombres, a los cuales dijo: —¿Debo ir a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad o debo renunciar a ella? —Sube, porque Jehová la entregará en manos del rey —le respondieron ellos.

And the king of Israel assembled the prophets, about four hundred men, and said to them, Shall I go against Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, and the Lord will give it into the king's hand.

7 D ijo Josafat: —¿Hay aquí algún otro profeta de Jehová por medio del cual podamos consultar?

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we might inquire of him?

8 E l rey de Israel respondió a Josafat: —Aún hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar a Jehová, Micaías hijo de Imla, pero yo lo aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza el bien, sino solamente el mal. —No hable el rey así —dijo Josafat.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah; but I hate him, for he prophesies no good concerning me, but evil: Micah the son of Imlah. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

9 E ntonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial y le ordenó: «Trae pronto a Micaías hijo de Imla.»

Then the king of Israel called a chamberlain, and said, Fetch quickly Micah the son of Imlah.

10 E l rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, estaban sentados cada uno en su silla, vestidos con sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria, mientras todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, having put on their robes, sat each on his throne, in the open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

11 S edequías hijo de Quenaana se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro y gritaba: «¡Así ha dicho Jehová: Con estos cornearás a los sirios hasta acabarlos!»

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for himself horns of iron, and he said, Thus saith Jehovah: With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have exterminated them.

12 T odos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera y decían: «Sube a Ramot de Galaad y serás prosperado, porque Jehová la entregará en manos del rey.»

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-Gilead, and prosper; for Jehovah will give it into the king's hand.

13 E l mensajero que había ido a llamar a Micaías le dijo: —Mira que las palabras de los profetas a una sola voz anuncian al rey cosas buenas; que tu palabra sea ahora como la palabra de alguno de ellos y anuncia tú también buen éxito.

And the messenger that went to call Micah spoke to him saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets good to the king with one assent: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak good.

14 M icaías respondió: —¡Vive Jehová, que lo que Jehová me hable, eso diré!

And Micah said, As Jehovah liveth, even what Jehovah shall say to me, that will I speak.

15 L legó, pues, ante el rey, y el rey le dijo: —Micaías, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad o renunciaremos a ella? Él le respondió: —Sube y serás prosperado: Jehová la entregará en manos del rey.

And he came to the king. And the king said to him, Micah, shall we go against Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he said to him, Go up, and prosper; for Jehovah will give it into the hand of the king.

16 E l rey le dijo: —¿Hasta cuántas veces he de exigirte que no me digas sino la verdad en nombre de Jehová?

And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but truth in the name of Jehovah?

17 E ntonces él dijo: —He visto a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor. Jehová ha dicho: “Estos no tienen señor. Que cada cual vuelva a su casa en paz.”

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And Jehovah said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

18 E l rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: —¿No te lo había dicho yo? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente el mal.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he prophesies no good concerning me, but evil?

19 E ntonces él dijo: —Oye, pues, la palabra de Jehová: “Yo vi a Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto a él, a su derecha y a su izquierda.

And he said, Hear therefore the word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him, on his right hand and on his left;

20 Y Jehová dijo: ¿Quién inducirá a Acab para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad? Uno decía de una manera y el otro decía de otra.

and Jehovah said, Who shall entice Ahab that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-Gilead? And one said after this manner, and another said after that manner.

21 E ntonces se adelantó un espíritu, se puso delante de Jehová y le dijo: ‘Yo lo induciré’. Jehová le preguntó: ‘¿De qué manera?’

And there came forth a spirit, and stood before Jehovah, and said, I will entice him.

22 É l dijo: ‘Saldré y seré un espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos sus profetas.’ Jehová le dijo: ‘Tú conseguirás inducirlo; ve, pues, y hazlo así.’

And Jehovah said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt entice, and also succeed: go forth, and do so.

23 A hora Jehová ha puesto un espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos tus profetas, y ha decretado el mal en contra tuya.”

And now, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning thee.

24 E ntonces se acercó Sedequías hijo de Quenaana y golpeó a Micaías en la mejilla diciendo: —¿Por dónde se me fue el espíritu de Jehová para hablarte a ti?

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micah upon the cheek, and said, Where now went the Spirit of Jehovah from me to speak to thee?

25 M icaías respondió: —Tú mismo lo verás el día en que te vayas metiendo de aposento en aposento para esconderte.

And Micah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go from chamber to chamber to hide thyself.

26 E ntonces el rey de Israel dijo: —Toma a Micaías y llévalo ante Amón, gobernador de la ciudad, y ante Joás, hijo del rey.

And the king of Israel said, Take Micah and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

27 T ú les dirás: “Así ha dicho el rey: ‘Echad a éste en la cárcel y mantenedlo con pan de angustia y con agua de aflicción, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.’”

and thou shalt say, Thus says the king: Put this in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

28 M icaías respondió: —Si logras volver en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mi boca. Y a continuación dijo: «Oíd, pueblos todos.»

And Micah said, If thou return at all in peace, Jehovah has not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O peoples, all of you!

29 S ubió, pues, el rey de Israel, junto con Josafat, rey de Judá, a Ramot de Galaad.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-Gilead.

30 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «Yo me disfrazaré y entraré en la batalla. Tú ponte tus vestidos.» El rey de Israel se disfrazó y entró en la batalla.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will enter into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

31 P ero el rey de Siria había mandado a los treinta y dos capitanes de sus carros, diciendo: «No peleéis ni con grande ni con chico, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.»

And the king of Syria commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots saying, Fight neither with small nor great, but with the king of Israel only.

32 C uando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: «Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel.» Y se volvieron contra él para atacarlo; pero el rey Josafat gritó.

And it came to pass when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely that is the king of Israel; and they turned against him to fight; and Jehoshaphat cried out.

33 A l ver los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, se apartaron de él.

And it came to pass that when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

34 P ero un hombre disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la armadura, por lo que dijo él a su cochero: «Da la vuelta y sácame del campo, pues estoy herido.»

And a man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the fastenings and the corslet. And he said to his charioteer, Turn thy hand, and drive me out of the camp; for I am wounded.

35 A quel día había arreciado la batalla y el rey tuvo que ser sostenido en su carro frente a los sirios. A la caída de la tarde murió, y la sangre de la herida corría por el fondo del carro.

And the battle increased that day; and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and he died at even; and the blood of the wound ran out into the hollow of the chariot.

36 A la puesta del sol corrió un pregón por el campamento que decía: «¡Cada uno a su ciudad y cada cual a su tierra!

And there went the cry throughout the host at the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country!

37 ¡ El rey ha muerto!» Entonces el rey fue traído a Samaria y lo sepultaron allí.

And the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

38 L avaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria y los perros lamían su sangre (también las rameras se lavaban allí), conforme a la palabra que Jehová había dicho.

And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked his blood, where the harlots bathed: according to the word of Jehovah, which he had spoken.

39 E l resto de los hechos de Acab y todo lo que hizo, la casa de marfil que construyó y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

And the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house that he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

40 A cab durmió con sus padres y reinó en su lugar su hijo Ocozías. Reinado de Josafat

And Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

41 J osafat hijo de Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab, rey de Israel.

And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

42 T enía Josafat treinta y cinco años de edad cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Azuba, hija de Silhi.

Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Azubah, the daughter of Shilhi.

43 S iguió en todo el camino de Asa, su padre, sin desviarse de él, e hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová. Con todo, los lugares altos no fueron quitados, porque el pueblo aún sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en ellos.

And he walked in all the way of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing what was right in the sight of Jehovah. Only, the high places were not removed: the people offered and burned incense still on the high places.

44 J osafat vivió en paz con el rey de Israel.

And Jehoshaphat was at peace with the king of Israel.

45 L os demás hechos de Josafat, sus hazañas y las guerras que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

And the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might which he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

46 B arrió también de la tierra los restos de los sodomitas que habían quedado en tiempos de su padre Asa.

And the remainder of the sodomites, which were left in the days of his father Asa, he put away from out of the land.

47 E ntonces no había rey en Edom, sino un gobernador en lugar de rey.

And there was no king in Edom: a deputy reigned.

48 J osafat había hecho naves de Tarsis, las que debían dirigirse a Ofir por oro; pero no fueron, porque se rompieron en Ezión-geber.

Jehoshaphat made Tarshish-ships to go to Ophir for gold; but they went not, for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.

49 E ntonces Ocozías hijo de Acab dijo a Josafat: «Vayan mis siervos con los tuyos en las naves.» Pero Josafat no quiso.

Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab to Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.

50 J osafat durmió con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David, su padre. En su lugar reinó su hijo Joram. Reinado de Ocozías de Israel

And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

51 O cozías hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, el año diecisiete de Josafat, rey de Judá. Reinó dos años sobre Israel.

Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; and he reigned two years over Israel.

52 H izo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, siguió el camino de su padre y el camino de su madre, y el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel,

And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

53 p orque sirvió a Baal y lo adoró, y provocó la ira de Jehová, Dios de Israel, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho su padre.

And he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked Jehovah the God of Israel to anger, according to all that his father had done.
