1 E n el año dieciocho del rey Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, Abiam comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.

Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.

2 R einó tres años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Maaca, hija de Abisalom.

Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. and his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

3 A nduvo en todos los pecados que su padre había cometido antes de él. Su corazón no fue perfecto para con Jehová, su Dios, como el corazón de su padre David.

And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father.

4 P ero por amor a David, Jehová, su Dios, le dio una lámpara en Jerusalén, al poner en el trono a su hijo después de él y sostener a Jerusalén,

Nevertheless for David's sake did the Lord his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:

5 p or cuanto David había hecho lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, y de ninguna cosa que le habían mandado se había apartado en todos los días de su vida, salvo en lo tocante a Urías, el heteo.

Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

6 H ubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam todos los días de su vida.

And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7 L os demás hechos de Abiam, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? Y hubo guerra entre Abiam y Jeroboam.

Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

8 D urmió Abiam con sus padres y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David. En su lugar reinó Asa, su hijo. Reinado de Asa

And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

9 E n el año veinte de Jeroboam, rey de Israel, Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.

And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.

10 R einó cuarenta y un años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Maaca, hija de Abisalom.

And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

11 A sa hizo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová, como David, su padre,

And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father.

12 p orque expulsó del país a los sodomitas y quitó todos los ídolos que sus padres habían hecho.

And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

13 T ambién privó a su madre Maaca de ser reina madre, porque había hecho un ídolo de Asera. Asa deshizo, además, el ídolo de su madre y lo quemó junto al torrente Cedrón.

And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

14 S in embargo, los lugares altos no desaparecieron. Con todo, el corazón de Asa fue perfecto para con Jehová toda su vida.

But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the Lord all his days.

15 T ambién puso en la casa de Jehová lo que su padre había dedicado, y lo que él dedicó: oro, plata y alhajas. Alianza de Asa con Ben-adad

And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the Lord, silver, and gold, and vessels.

16 H ubo guerra continuamente entre Asa y Baasa, rey de Israel.

And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

17 B aasa, rey de Israel, subió contra Judá y fortificó Ramá, para evitar que se comunicaran con Asa, rey de Judá.

And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

18 A sa tomó toda la plata y el oro que había quedado en los tesoros de la casa de Jehová y en los tesoros de la casa real, se los entregó a sus siervos y los envió a Ben-adad hijo de Tabrimón hijo de Hezión, rey de Siria, el cual residía en Damasco, diciendo:

Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

19 « Haya alianza entre nosotros, como entre mi padre y el tuyo. Aquí te envío un presente de plata y de oro. Ve y rompe tu pacto con Baasa, rey de Israel, para que se aparte de mí.»

There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

20 B en-adad aceptó la propuesta del rey Asa y envió a los jefes de sus ejércitos contra las ciudades de Israel. Conquistó Ijón, Dan, Abel-bet-maaca, toda Cineret y toda la tierra de Neftalí.

So Benhadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelbethmaachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

21 A l saberlo Baasa, dejó de edificar Ramá y se quedó en Tirsa.

And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

22 E ntonces el rey Asa convocó a todo Judá, sin exceptuar a nadie. Se llevaron de Ramá la piedra y la madera con que Baasa edificaba, y el rey Asa construyó con ello Geba de Benjamín y Mizpa. Muerte de Asa

Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23 L os demás hechos de Asa, todo su poderío, todo lo que hizo y las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? En los días de su vejez Asa enfermó de los pies.

The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

24 D urmió Asa con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David, su padre. Reinó en su lugar Josafat, su hijo. Reinado de Nadab

And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

25 N adab hijo de Jeroboam comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en el segundo año de Asa, rey de Judá. Reinó sobre Israel dos años.

And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.

26 H izo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová andando en el camino de su padre y en los pecados con que éste hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

27 B aasa hijo de Ahías, que era de la casa de Isacar, conspiró contra él. Baasa lo hirió en Gibetón, que era de los filisteos, porque Nadab y todo Israel tenían sitiado a Gibetón.

And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.

28 L o mató, pues, Baasa en el tercer año de Asa, rey de Judá, y reinó en lugar suyo.

Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.

29 A penas comenzó a reinar, mató a toda la casa de Jeroboam, sin dejar alma viviente de los de Jeroboam, hasta raerla, conforme a la palabra que Jehová anunció por medio de su siervo Ahías, el silonita,

And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the Lord, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:

30 y a causa de los pecados que Jeroboam había cometido, con los cuales hizo pecar a Israel, provocando así el enojo de Jehová, Dios de Israel.

Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the Lord God of Israel to anger.

31 L os demás hechos de Nadab, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 Y hubo guerra continua entre Asa y Baasa, rey de Israel. Reinado de Baasa

And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

33 E n el tercer año de Asa, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Baasa hijo de Ahías sobre todo Israel en Tirsa. Reinó veinticuatro años.

In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.

34 P ero hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; anduvo en el camino de Jeroboam y en el pecado con que éste hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
