1 « ¡Clama a voz en cuello, no te detengas, alza tu voz como una trompeta! ¡Anuncia a mi pueblo su rebelión y a la casa de Jacob su pecado!

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

2 E llos me buscan cada día y quieren saber mis caminos, como gente que hubiera hecho justicia y que no hubiera dejado el derecho de su Dios. Me piden justos juicios y quieren acercarse a Dios.

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

3 D icen: “¿Por qué ayunamos y no hiciste caso, humillamos nuestras almas y no te diste por entendido?” He aquí que en el día de vuestro ayuno buscáis vuestro propio interés y oprimís a todos vuestros trabajadores.

Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.

4 H e aquí que para contiendas y debates ayunáis, y para herir con el puño inicuamente; no ayunéis como lo hacéis hoy, para que vuestra voz sea oída en lo alto.

Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

5 ¿ Es éste el ayuno que yo escogí: que de día aflija el hombre su alma, que incline su cabeza como un junco y haga cama de telas ásperas y de ceniza? ¿Llamaréis a esto ayuno y día agradable a Jehová?

Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord ?

6 E l ayuno que yo escogí, ¿no es más bien desatar las ligaduras de impiedad, soltar las cargas de opresión, dejar ir libres a los quebrantados y romper todo yugo?

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

7 ¿ No es que compartas tu pan con el hambriento, que a los pobres errantes albergues en casa, que cuando veas al desnudo lo cubras y que no te escondas de tu hermano?

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8 E ntonces nacerá tu luz como el alba y tu sanidad se dejará ver en seguida; tu justicia irá delante de ti y la gloria de Jehová será tu retaguardia.

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

9 E ntonces invocarás, y te oirá Jehová; clamarás, y dirá él: “¡Heme aquí! Si quitas de en medio de ti el yugo, el dedo amenazador y el hablar vanidad,

Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

10 s i das tu pan al hambriento y sacias al alma afligida, en las tinieblas nacerá tu luz y tu oscuridad será como el mediodía.”

And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:

11 J ehová te pastoreará siempre, en las sequías saciará tu alma y dará vigor a tus huesos. Serás como un huerto de riego, como un manantial de aguas, cuyas aguas nunca se agotan.

And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

12 Y los tuyos edificarán las ruinas antiguas; los cimientos de generación y generación levantarás, y serás llamado “reparador de portillos”, “restaurador de viviendas en ruinas.” La observancia del día de reposo

And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

13 » Si retraes del sábado tu pie, de hacer tu voluntad en mi día santo, y lo llamas “delicia”, “santo”, “glorioso de Jehová”, y lo veneras, no andando en tus propios caminos ni buscando tu voluntad ni hablando tus propias palabras,

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14 e ntonces te deleitarás en Jehová. Yo te haré subir sobre las alturas de la tierra y te daré a comer la heredad de tu padre Jacob. La boca de Jehová lo ha hablado.»

Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
