1 T hen some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,
Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 “ Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 A nd He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 F or God said, ‘ Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘ He who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death.’
For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 B ut you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,”
But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 h e is not to honor his father or his mother.’ And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 Y ou hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you:
Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 ‘ This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 ‘ But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’”
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10 A fter Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, “Hear and understand.
And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11 I t is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12 T hen the disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?”
Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 L et them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” The Heart of Man
Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15 P eter said to Him, “ Explain the parable to us.”
Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 J esus said, “Are you still lacking in understanding also?
And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 D o you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated?
Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 B ut the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man.
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 F or out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 T hese are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.” The Syrophoenician Woman
These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
21 J esus went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon.
Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 A nd a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed.”
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 B ut He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, “Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us.”
But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 B ut she said, “Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 T hen Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed at once. Healing Crowds
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
29 D eparting from there, Jesus went along by the Sea of Galilee, and having gone up on the mountain, He was sitting there.
And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
30 A nd large crowds came to Him, bringing with them those who were lame, crippled, blind, mute, and many others, and they laid them down at His feet; and He healed them.
And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
31 S o the crowd marveled as they saw the mute speaking, the crippled restored, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. Four Thousand Fed
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 A nd Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, “ I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.”
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 T he disciples said to Him, “Where would we get so many loaves in this desolate place to satisfy such a large crowd?”
And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 A nd Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 A nd He directed the people to sit down on the ground;
And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 a nd He took the seven loaves and the fish; and giving thanks, He broke them and started giving them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 A nd they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, seven large baskets full.
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 A nd those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39 A nd sending away the crowds, Jesus got into the boat and came to the region of Magadan.
And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
